Roshi’s final Kamehameha is one of my favorite moments in this arc. You feel for the Hermit students when Goku straight up leaves a fight to bring back the master who was with him since childhood. This was *the* kamehameha. This is genuinely the best kamehameha in the entirety of dragon ball. It wasn’t the strongest, but it felt the most complete and the most perfected
Roshis kamehameha pose is always the most satisfying, from the first kamehameha we get to see to the last one he does. Its always the same. He bulks up and hunches a bit then holds his hands out like that... its just so ASMR. Its just so awesome to see his huge bulking body against the kaamehameha, it just looks way better than with any other character.
Yes, toriyama does in fact create the characters from dragon quest-it’s why the art styles look so similar. My guess is that the character from this episode is a little homage to the games. Ps all of Roshi’s moves here have been revealed since og dragon ball: evil containment wave, buff roshi, sleepy boy, etc.
Something most reactors miss, is that Roshi's Kamehameha is a PERFECTED Kamehameha, gained from decades of training and mastering the Technique. Because if you see everyone else use their Beam Techniques, the Beams aren't stable, and shake the ground, break the ground around it, and effect the environment without touching it. This is cause of lack of Ki control, excess Ki leaking out of the beam. But rewatch Roshi's Kamehameha. It is Perfected. There is no damage to the Environment at all. All the Ki built up to make the attack 100% hits the enemy, not a single bit is expelled or wasted. Not even Goku can do that. Only Roshi, with his Decades of dedicated perfection to mastering the technique.
The anime gets alot of hate for many things, some of it even deserved but this one, is one of many other moments they did amazingly. Giving Roshi the spotlight again, something we don't get to see even in DBZ is really amazing and really gives us the OG DB feeling. Highlighting Roshi's relationship with Goku and Krillin, being master and students really was just the icing on the cake
the fact that Beerus the god of destruction showed respect to master roshi proved just how powerful of a warrior roshi is and shows true strength comes from a mixture of strength knowledge and discipline roshi has always been one of my favorite characters because every time he’s on the screen it’s pure gold 🗣️🐐

Fun fact: Roshi ate grass called Paradise Grass (or the Paradise Herb) which is similar but different than something like the fountain of youth, basically this grass gives an extended life span which it has seemed to have worked considering that Roshi is 350 years old, Roshi also claims that if he ate more he could live another 1,000 years. This really gives more impact behind the line where he said he has experience.

Yeah that's always the thing. I love Roshi for all the amazing heart warming moments and incredible ones at that....but I hate and I mean HATE how they can't just give up on the joke of "haha perverted old man! Isn't it funny? Laugh already!" It's just uncomfortable to watch.

In the japanese version, it's a lot more heart wrenching. Because roshi gives his life And Isn't saying master roshi. Instead says grandpa Over and over. Until he is crying. It's the first time in the show that goku acknowledge is roshi as a family member To him
I grew up watching OG and DBZ on TV during 90s-00s as a kid. I can tell you that this moment was one of the best. The internet was broke back when super was airing.
I feel like the rules being broken or not by Roshi carrying around those containment jars is kind of moot anyway. Since if he weren't allowed to have those, he could instead just use the Evil Containment Wave to hurl foes straight out of the arena, cutting out the middle man of first trapping them inside something. So regardless, the technique could still be used to swiftly knock out opponents all the same.
