I have the honour of playing this hymn on flute at a funeral this week for an 87 year old lady who truly knew Jesus and raised her hands and danced in the aisle in church, when the minister reprimanded her she said 'what does your little boy do when he wants to be picked up? I am raising my hands to my Heavenly Father who picks me up every day and loves me. God bless you all and thank you for your wonderful you tube videos.
This is absolutely tremendous - this hymn is my all time favorite, and I think this is the best rendition I've ever witnessed of it. Thank you so much for uploading and sharing!
A lot of times, the organ player will play this at the end of a funeral as they are wheeling the casket out of the church. : But it does sound better if it is sang a little faster. I sing it faster.@@peterchristie1096
I grew up in a small Methodist church and even if I don't know all the words, the melodies to these old hymns bring me peace and comfort.
Lord, please back the old hymns!!!

Sang this as the Processional Hymn at my mother's funeral.

Such beautiful music from this church, as always! I am grateful for this choir's heartfelt performances, and for their talented director/organist.

Joyful Hymn
Lord hear our prayer
Great hymn.........but I am trying to reconcile it with the churches statement on its website that "Jesus is not the only way to God."
John, 14:6.
Love this.
The organist played this perfectly. I wish I had that instrument instead of the little 5 rank organ I play.
MIGHTY Plymouth
Praise the Lord
Simply saying THANK YOU!!!!!
Yes! On a Facebook page I talked about dropping out and letting the congregation sing a capella. They thought I was nuts.
I like to hear this played and sang a little bit faster. I can sing it faster, and I do.
I quite agree. This sounds like a funeral dirge, it needs to go a lot faster and sound more joyous which I am sure the composer intended.

@@peterchristie1096 LOL, dirge is a little extreme. But yeah, it should be faster. Still a great job by the organist, choir and congregation.
