Take a journey with us to the Garden of Gethsemane in Luke 22 as we begin our walk towards Easter. In this video, we explore the greatest person to ever set foot on Earth - Jesus. From his birth to his ministry, Jesus had a profound impact on everyone he encountered. The Jewish people eagerly awaited the arrival of the Messiah, who they believed would deliver them from political and spiritual oppression. And so, Jesus, the one who created everything, walked among them, but his divinity posed certain questions.
In Luke 22:39, we find Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, experiencing distress and agony. The phenomenon of hematidrosis, where drops of blood mix with sweat due to extreme stress, showcases the intensity of his emotions. But why was Jesus so distressed? The answer lies in the cup he had to drink. Jesus became sin and took the curse upon himself, redeeming us and securing an eternal inheritance for us. His love for us was so unwavering that he was willing to endure immense suffering.
Jesus' distress in the Garden of Gethsemane serves as a reminder of the hope we have in him. He is the only way for us to be saved, set free from the power of sin, and ultimately freed from the presence of sin in the future. Our identity and value lie in Jesus, not in what the world thinks of us or the possessions we have. Jesus' love for us is a determined love that goes beyond our comprehension.
