"Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney will not seek reelection in 2024, he announced Wednesday -- marking the potential end to a storied conservative career that had in recent years put him in conflict with his party's standard-bearer, Donald Trump.
In a video statement, Romney, 76, touted his role in major pieces of bipartisan legislation on issues including infrastructure, guns and COVID-19 relief but said it was time for a "new generation" to take the reins -- both on Capitol Hill and in the White House, accusing President Joe Biden, 80, and former President Trump, 77, of not doing enough to address America's challenges."

As a Massachusetts Democrat, I didn't vote for him but he was a decent governor and he did get the ball rolling with what was then called "Romney" care, which went on to be a basis for Obamacare/Affordable Care Act. Granted, I want universal health care but getting to even this iteration of more affordable health care, was a huge battle. My healthcare is not tied to my job, it's reasonably priced and I get excellent care - and that's huge. So hats off to Romney. I can only paraphrase, but it was a comment that really stuck in my mind because it is so rare in politicians, these days.
"Look, I disagree with my distinguished colleagues on a great many things, and some of that includes the way they have behaved. But if I want any hope of getting anything done, I have to work with them on a daily basis, and hopefully remain on friendly terms. TYT are partisan hack slime bags. Mitt is not bad mouthing republicans. He is bad mouthing republicans that do not hate Trump. There are two parties in DC. You are either part of the deep state swamp that goes along with the radical left Marxist deep state democrat party or you are not. Mitt and mitch and liz and the RINOs all go along with the dems or they know they will be destroyed and they will do to them what they do to Trump or MTG or anyone that threatens their power. They use the FBI and the DOJ to censor your 1st amendment rights and to censor the free press. They use the corrupt DOJ and the corrupt FBI and corrupt DAs to bring 91 charges against the leading presidential candidate of the opposition and his lawyers and his staff. And Mitt and Mitch and the swamp slime all support it cuz Trump exposed them for the corrupt slime they are and he must be destroyed . And TYT praise Mitt for being a good little swamp slime cuz he hates Trump. How pathetic is this?
