  • This selection was performed as part of the 2nd portion of a concert presented in December, 1992 entitled “An English Holiday Concert” featuring the Abendmusik Chorus, Plymouth Brass and organist Stephen Krahn conducted by Sir David Willcocks.

    That was wonderful, with the ' vivats' included. As an Englishman it always moves me emotionally. I met Sir David in New Zealand, and he was a gentleman of the first order.

    Our high school choir is performing this tomorrow, we all are very nervous.

    The best version, for me, will always be the live recording from Westminster Abbey at the actual coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, under the direction of Sir William McKie. It's the real thing!!!

    Best versions still done by English choral groups... comprised of boys and men. Many examples here on you Tube( check Westminster Cathedral celebration of the Queens 80th birthday)

    In the organ interlude around 4:10 it looks like Willcocks is getting annoyed and wanting to hurry the organ along several times before enthusiastically directing the fanfare for the "vivats"
