    Can you do a tutorial on how you do skin tones/shading? Like, how you know which colors to use in different spots and what colors to use for them to not look awful when blended together?

    • @jaelynnquintero7340
      @jaelynnquintero7340 2 роки тому +107

      he’s basing the placement of the colors on their values (how dark or light a color is) like he wouldn’t place a very light color somewhere where he wants shadow. and plus complementary colors, when mixed together make a black, so for example he wouldn’t place a purple right next to a yellow unless he wanted that area to look very dark. just learn about how different colors blend together and values.

      No this isn't the same thing you get at Pizza Hut. Those are wax-based crayons while these are oil-based, which blend more smoothly (but also are more susceptible to damage to the picture afterward).

    I love how you blend the colors on their faces. I've seen art like this before. Does this art style have a specific name? Lol and Im commenting before watching your video.

    This was sooooo helpful. I’ve never used oil pastels before today and made a mess not knowing what I was doing. I was using them like... ( gulp ) crayons.

    i found this vid bc im totally new to oil pastels, and im rly impressed by how good you obviously are at this. despite how you said to choose a random color, the colors you choose and place on every particular position of the eye feels like youre keeping in mind your values, as well as overall composition, of the whole piece. you certainly dont forget variety and keeping the viewer (of the piece, not the video; but the video, too) entertained, either, as you add in different colors every time you feel "there's too much of (a color) here for my taste." regardless of your simple sketches, both your eyes turned out amazing, and it really makes me think i should trust the process a little more.
