Something I read someone say that I love: When Discord says "I have seen your show, and I know how you die" he wasn't just talking about "he entered someone's mind then got erased" aspect. He was talking about the fact that he died with someone selflessly sacrificing themselves for their loved ones. So Discord did exactly what Stan did.

“Well... Heheheh... heh... It was worth a try... But still, hehehe, I'm surprised. You don't recognize... your old home.” Genuinely really one of the best endings in the entire franchise to me, Discor saving all his loved ones, Equestria and being a troll til the very end. After all the years of being worried and scorned over this match, seeing all my friends who are family to me, some of every first best friends I ever made around here, and myself credited for assisting in research, I couldn’t be happier to see this episode turn out so well.
And the dilivery of "your old home" is fucking amazing, shows that he knows that those words would to more damage to him than even killing him, he failed to his goal to a being he considers his lesser and is now trapped back in the nightmare dimension, they both know that this is bill's loss and discord RELISHES it
It genuinely makes me happy that this isn't even considered a victory for either of them. While Bill won the fight physically, Discord both saved the day, and will return soon enough. But, he still lost. Bill won the fight, but was taken out of his weirdmageddon, which ruined all his hard work, and is now stuck there for another few hundred years.
I love the tangent about Discord's motivation and the whole topic about how he was changed because of his friends for the better. It's made even better by the fact that during his analysis, he wrote "Could solve everyone's problems if he wanted to" "But sometimes it's better to trust your friends" or something of the sort Amazing
Which makes the theory that the letter he left to the gang is a way to revive him fast. Because without the embodiment of disharmony the worlds natural balance will be in jeopardy.
Actually surprised you didn’t mention the fact that there were a few moments during the fight where Bill actually found Discord charming. “Come on man! What are you doing?” When Discord tries dropping an anvil on top of him, and he genuinely laughs at Discord’s “a tad Euclidean for my taste” barb.
21:33 As much of an MLP:FIM fan I am, JUST NOW realizing the note that Discord wrote at the beginning and left for the Mane 6 to read is fucking heart breaking. That made me cry, I'm not gonna lie. That note at the end is a cinematic masterpiece. Discord knew he'd lose and he left a goodbye note for the ponies he loves. Dude, that is... I'm, legit, crying because of that... Fucking hell...
He probably did that to just surprise them when he comes back. He'll visit his own grave with the ponies to surprise them. I would love to see this getting animated

This is honestly my new favorite episode in the show. Everything from the analysis, editing, fight, etc oozes passion. A huge love letter to the community at large, and it’s the fight that makes me the happiest being a part of this community.

@@BiffWeed How does one watch over a 100 episodes in less than a month? (Show has 9 seasons most of them having 24-26 episodes with only one of them having 13.) Gravity falls is far more manageable to pull off. Hell, one can argue you finish the show in less than a week if you have enough free time to pull it off.
@@DangerDan64 100 episodes a month is easy... as long as you have time and patience/motivation. you can watch 10 episodes a day, but that's somewhat overkill, still to watch the whole show you might need that. 25x8=200+13 is 213, so you'd have to watch 213/30=7.1 episodes per day, round it to 7 and watch extra episodes for the last week and you're good. This might be wrong, but I think I'm using the correct expressions. Btw this is 2 hours and 20 minutes of episodes per day, plus or minus, so somewhat plausible.
Discord’s final lines were so badass and terrifying and the emotion in Discords tone is legit gave me chills. “I seen your show Bill, I KNOW HOW YOU DIE!” & “Haha- but still I’m surprised, you don’t recognize your own HOME” Discord gets serious! sounds so raw and badass I love it! I rewind to that scene because of how good his tone of voice gets.
Yeah I know it’s probably from the psychology we have when it comes to our own work and feeling more critical of it but legit it is really nice! Simple and really reflects both shows
One thing I thought about is that when Discord says "I know how you die", it can be interpreted as Discord acknowledging that *he knows he won't be the one to kill him*. He knows that Bill will meet his end in Stanly's mind anyways. That even if Bill gets out, it will only be to go straight to his canonical death.
@thesmashor4396 the funny thing is bill does not seemingly fully die to stan, in i think in the treasure hunt stan sounds a bit off and tells you should shake the hand of the bill statue.
One interesting point I'd like to bring up is, if Discord knew the whole time he couldn't kill Bill, then that means that the song that plays of Discord being confident in having fun with Bill, is just him pretending to be cocky so he could piss off Bill to blindside him at the end.

I went into this knowing nothing about Discord. And even though I’m a fan of Gravity Falls and like Bill as a villain I still didn’t really thing I’d would actually care about the episode… BUT BOY WAS I WRONG! This is definitely my favorite of the season
I think that ending brings a whole new interpretation of Discords "I know how you die" line. Like he was aware he couldn't win, but knew Bill could be outsmarted and made him tunnelvision, just like in the final part of Weirdmageddon.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes, because weirdly enough, the episode felt just long enough, and escalated in a way that didn't feel rushed to me. That almost never happens in modern death battle

Honestly, this is my new favorite episode of the season and is tied with Saitama vs Popeye as my second favorite episode of the show. All of the effort and passion that was put into the episode was well worth it. The build up to this episode made it feel like an event, and for all intents and purposes, it absolutely was. Also, don’t worry, you might show up later on in the season. Remember Steven vs Star and Korra vs Storm? Edit: I was right
As someone who doesnt care for either series, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the battle. They clearly spent so much time and effort into making this match worth it and it shows. While I was rooting for Discord since he was the hero for the match, I knew the second he said "I know how you die" he was going to recreate what happened in gravity falls and sacrafice himself. The fact he saved Equastria and sent Bill back into the nightmare realm was insane. Probably my 3rd favorite death battle. Up there with Mickey vs Yoda and Sauron vs Litch king.
There are so many little details in this animation. I noticed on my first viewing that when Discord and Bill are fighting with their toy versions, you can see that while Discord is noticeably more beat up and injured, Bill only has a few scratches and is more annoyed than anything. This is great foreshadowing and just a great conveyance of the dynamic of the fight.
In regard to fluttershy being in danger by a being in the same ball park as discord power wise (seeing as how he reacted when she was simply kidnapped by the bug) I find it hard to accept he would have played around, unless he had a plan for how he wanted this battle to go, even if that meant being killed to halo respawn back in Equestria. I love the theory that since Discord can’t die as long as chaos exists, he made the sacrifice play not only to keep his friends safe, but to check out how they would react if he died permanently. That coupled with him remembering what fluttershy said “What if you had some pony you could discuss chaos based magic with?” makes Discord want to see if he can come back and talk with Bill later as the only other person he can do these kinds of things with.

Easily one of my new favorites of all time. Its a love letter to not just both characters and their series but the entire community as a whole. This episode is near perfect and Im so happy one of my most wanted episodes turned out this good
The fact that Discord died laughing after fooling Bill and ruining his plan, and in spite of Bill. Its perfect. Even more so because Bill knows that too. Bill knows that even though he won, so did his opponent. Even if Bill got backs to equestria at some point, the fact he; a so call 'all seeing god', couldn't even see his opponent's true plan until its too late and that same opponent laughing at him even in death. His pride is without a doubt not letting go of that anytime soon.
The closest thing I have to a complaint is the biggest nitpick I can think of: in the track, Discords lines are delivered in his voice more or less, but Bills lines are more or less just Brandon’s regular voice. And that’s like not even a complaint ,it’s at most .0000000001% off the 1000000000% this episode gets (and the song is perfect too). Also, I read someone else’s comment on Reddit that the letter Discord writes probably includes instructions to Pinkie Pie on how to throw a party so chaotic hed be able to return to ease, which just sounds perfect.
This battle makes me both happy yet sad. I kind of wish that Ballot Winner battles would get an alternate ending, just so that these feel extra special.

Bill's tunnel vision on beating discord is what left him to being tricked. Like Bill wouldn't be focusing on anything other than Discord because he views him as a legit threat. I love how they added his tunnel vision into this because Bill doesn't care about anything that isn't a threat to him, so yeah he wouldn't notice the enviroment around him changing.
I loved this fight, even though I've barely seen any My Little Pony I was still kinda able to get a soft understanding of the character. Everything seemed like something the characters would do, the way Bill won but still lost is just perfect. The final scene of how he was able to just put his hand into his head and grab Discord.
its so satifying to finally have one of my favorite characters have my favorite episode of this show. i could genuinely not imagine this season without this episode....mostly cus the whole season is built around it

Bill Vs Discord is just top tier in terms of UA-cam crossover content and ended up walking away with being my 3rd favorite episode of all time. If the season finale can end up half as good as this I'd be more than willing to call S10 my favorite season of the show

It's likely a stretch, but considering he sacrifices himself to stop weirdmagedon is similar to Stanford. And it helps with thinking that the note Discord writes at the start was him telling the ponies what happened, thinking he knows he won't kill Bill. And maybe the beaker is Rick vs. The Doctor?
Discord tricking bill and sacrificing himself to protect his friend seems like a rule break for death battle because they try to cut off emotions to have them fight at their fullest but the funny thing is rule break is what they're good at so it makes sense story wise
They made Superman hold back against Goku all three times a little less the third time but still They made the doctor go on the defense, the entire time against Rick I think they’re starting to lessen the strictness of that rule who knows they might even remove it altogether one day

I have been waiting for this matchup to happen for years, and once it was announced it won the 2D poll, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for an upcoming matchup. This episode was literally everything I could’ve wanted and more. This is easily my new favorite episode of not just Death Battle, but any versus show period, and this review made me love this episode more than I already do. This might honestly be my favorite DB review you’ve done so far.

Not only is this one of my top 5 episodes of all time, but in my personal opinion is my favorite of your reviews. "Bill may be an all seeing equilateral deity. But I'm just a pumpkin" with the PERFECTLY timed cut to live action, had me rolling along with several other jokes. I recognize the amount of work you've put in to not be "the negative one" like everyone says you are, you keep nitpicks to just that, nitpicks, but still give them the time their worth because they are genuine flaws, but don't bring down the overall experience in the episode. Well, TBH, Bill only won because of a technicality in their rules because it went into a stalemate, where they gauged the ability of the participant to come back from being erased from existence. Bill can come back quickly as long as he lives rent free inside of someone's head, while Discord takes some time to come back via Chaos Energy. The fight came down to literally not who's the strongeat, but who can come back from being erased first. Discord is indeed slightly stronger than Bill and wins if the fight stretches for thousands of years, but this technicality means that by Death Battle Rules, he lost because his healing factor takes too long.
This man deep dived into one of the most gripping and mind-bending animated television shows (and Gravity Falls) just so he could have a full comprehensive understanding of this death battle. Mad respect.
I hated the fact that Discord ''lost'' (tho actually can come back without help while Bill can't) but I just can't bring myself to not love everything else about the episode. The worst part of the episode was it's trailer honestly

One thing I really like about this Death Battle is that it has an actual narrative. It's not just Characters show up > contrive a reason to fight > fight > we have a winner (not that there's anything wrong with that) but there's an actual story going on that's bigger than the fight itself. I wish more Death Battles took place within a story like this one.
Fairly certain that there are two kinds of people: Those who think this is the best episode of all time, and those who would put this on their top 10, if not top 5. This was not only just another death battle, but one that told a damn good story. So much so that I didn’t realize until you pointed it out how Discord had seemingly changed the location of the fight when they were sock puppets. It was perfect how both were shown off and how we could argue that at some point in this fight (whether at the start, Discord changing locations or when he tried to take out Bill how he went out in Gravity Falls), he knew he wasn’t going to win and this changed the fight to “trap bill” compared to just defeat him. The other thing I loved is how Bill dealt with this. Yes, he may or may not know how he lost against the Pines, but it felt like Discord mistook the ending. If we think about it, Bill “died” when he invaded Stan’s mind (while he had no means to escape during the mind eraser), but if you invade Bill’s mind, he could still likely do something like reach into his own mind and pull out Discord. Either way, this was definitely one of the best episodes we got as of late, if not ever. It feels like the champions who voted chose wisely and we can only hope Cole vs Mercer is able to tap into a percentage of what we got here.

One of the best in the series and easily one of the best this season so far, which is suprising since we have had some pretty good episodes this season in my eyes (Chosenborn, Vader/Obito, and the one you haven't watched and don't want to watch). Only very VERY minor things wrong that don't take away from it at all. A fitting episode for one of the ballot winners for this season and while I am concerned Colex may not be on the same level as Bill vs. Discord, I still think it will turn out good just by how the other 3D fights this season have gone. Its a little detail but I like how Discord gives bill the finger after he slaps him in the mindscape And I LOVE how in one of Bills code sentence thingys he said he doesn’t even like chicken wings referring to the crossover colloseum episode 😂
This episode made me *feel* things, and enjoy the show in a way I haven’t in a bit, at least to this degree. I love it so much, it was an immediate favorite and I’m so happy someone was able to put everything into words exactly why.
The craziest thing is how Bill Cipher liked some of the things Discord did which is akin to S9 of MLP where Tirek and Chrysalis talk about how much better Discord used to be before he was “plagued” with Friendship. So them having Bill display some level of respect for what Discord can do vs what Discord was doing this all for. Like the final antagonist of MLP still not comprehending friendship and kindness, Bill also just doesn’t comprehend why Discord did what he did. Genuine masterpiece of writing and I genuinely don’t think Death Battle could ever pull off such character accuracy than Discord vs Bill imo I still think Discord should’ve won since he has more concrete proof of his scaling vs Bill’s more 'questionable' feats, but everything else was perfect
I think this is tied with Diocard for my top episode of all time. Both are absolutely stellar in practically every category, and both got me to almost immediately dive straight into media I was completely unfamiliar with.

This episode finally trumped Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon as my favorite of season 10. The amount of passion, love, and just overall creativity for this fight was spot on for both characters. This episode took all the good parts of Deadpool vs The Mask and made them even better. One key detail that made this episode 100x better than Twilight vs Raven for me was how the fight ended. Even though Discord knew that he was gonna die he was gonna make sure that Bill could never harm anyone in the multiverse and basically sealed himself and Bill knowing what was gonna happen. So from a story narrative Discord also got the victory as well while Bill was the winner of the fight Discord won the war. This is honestly a 10/10 for me for me. The only other episode that got this rating was the previously mentioned Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon. I'm hoping that when we get Prototype vs Infamous in 2 weeks the episode is just as good as this week's.
Hope discord Vs bill is not the last my little pony character to get a deathbattle. I hope Discord comes back to deathbattle. Discord vs loki would be very neat. Honestly i want loki to get a deathbattle some year. Or celestia vs amaterastu... Or twilight sparkle vs bloom from winx club

The amount of easter eggs to various memes, community members, matchups, etc. It's literally enough to make a book about. That's not even addressing the overall quality of the episode, and it doesn't take an over analyzer to say its fucking golden. The analysis, the debate, the fight, the track, the EVERYTHING that was put into here, words cannot describe how much this episode absolutely blew my mind. This episode isn't my favorite of the season, it's my favorite episode of the SHOW period. Any criticisms I may have would just be minor nitpicks that don't affect my opinion in the slightest. I can go on and on about how much i love this episode, but it would take all day if i did. An absolute. Flawless. 10/10.
While don't agree with the verdict and have problems with how they interpret some of Bill feats. I can't deny the quality and that this was the best episode of the season so far and probably the best episode of the series. In fact I see a lot of people who disagree with the results, but still love the episode. I definitely think a good chunk of it was Discord being treated with a lot of respect, screwing over Bill, and being implied that he'll most likely return one day. Great episode!!!
God, this episode is just Amazing! I love everything about it, Animation, visuals, editing, voice acting, and overall narrative! It's down right perfect. Also it's always Wholesome to see Nem incredibly happy about a battle.

"Ooooh, you think we're EQUALS?!" -So damn raw and such a great way to show off Bill's arrogance and power in a single line. "Discord?" -In hindsight this is incredibly heartbreaking from Fluttershy. "Okay... no big deal... *I've done this before*" -Truly intimidating. Partly because (even if Bill is coping) it's true. Discord's victory is temporary. Pretty much the entirety of the song they used as a backtrack. "A talking triangle taking me on? That's acute." "For an isoceles you sure can be more than a bit obtuse"
I absolutely love how you came to the same conclusion as I did when I say that Bill won on the surface level to win the death battle, but Discord won in all the ways that matter. I honestly love the layered takes death battle has been doing with their wins and losses. This and Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer have some very satisfying and kinda layered endings and I hope the show kinda keeps up with that.

I don’t care for either series, but this is easily a new top 5 episode. For one, this is actually evenly matched with Bill only barely getting the win (unlike most matches where they say it’s close but then give evidence as to why it’s a stomp, it’s actually close here since they can both kill each other). 2) the humor is spot on. 3) the ultimate troll ending.
One of the key reasons why this episode was so great is because it was storyboarded by John Mitchell, aka DYWTBA_Brony. Prior to working for Death Battle, he did reactions to various television shows here on UA-cam and took an especially great liking to MLP and Gravity Falls. You can even see his pony OC in the fight animation. It’s the “bootleg merchandise” that you see Bill glue onto his throne.
Oh really that’s so awesome he was the first channel I watched reacting to MLP back in the day, he’s one of the biggest reasons for joining the brony community at the time, that’s so cool how he got storyboard this episode
Can’t draw?!? This looks great! Especially the inverse styles between the glass and journal is cool! The weird day instead of green day. This is a pause episode you have to pause to see it all. While chunks of this went over my head, your analysis helped to make sense of it. I already thought it was brilliant, this is perfect. Surprised you didn’t mention Bill’s line, “Oh well, not like I haven’t done this before.” It shows that while Bill is trapped, he ultimately won the war even if he lost the fight. Not just that, the different types of animation work beautifully as it shows the eldritchian nature of these characters What’s funny about these characters, is you can buy their different voices if they’re close due to their natures as fairly conceptual beings.
Being honest here: the only iffy thing that I feel did not make sense is that Bill is not affected by grogar's bell... they compared an artifact that is used by one of the greatest evils to magic in gravity falls... also no sources lead to a multiversal bill. Best episode still but just a few issues with the analysis.
Don't mind if I copy paste my reddit Theory of how Discord planned everything because he knew from the start that he would lose in this episode? 1: He said goobye to the yellow pony, knowing he wouldn't see her again. 2: He left a letter to imply that he was the one that got rid of Bill. 3: At the begging of the fight he turned the statue ponies back to normal in the background while Bill was morphing gravity. 4: After the whole bubbles transition he got rid of the bubbles and the interdimensional monsters. 5: Finally, he teleported Bill into his original dimension, trapped him there and ended Weirdmaggedon. To sum up, Discord always knew that he wouldn't defeat Bill so the whole fight was just Discord distracting him while he "fixed" all the chaos the latter brought upon his world and then trapped him.
This really was an awesone episode. They really did an amazing job on all aspects. I am on the side that Discord technically would lose? There's no reason why Discord couldn't have been using one of his many clones, or just leave the dimension before the killing blow. The chaos around them would be one hell of a boost for Discord. Great review I knew I could rely you on you in pointing out the details of what makes an already great battle and analysis in to an ever better one. The episode truly felt like an absolute highlight of the series of the shows and death battle as a whole. They did such an amazing job.
This episode made me genuinely care for discord a character I knew nothing about from a series I had no interest in watching but something about his lines endear me to him. Also hearing flutter shy calling out to discord was insanely heartbreaking. Again if this episode was able to make me care for one of its characters in only 10 or so minutes that’s a huge achievement. It’s definitely my favourite episode death battle has ever done.
I found it funny that Discord was pretty much trolling Bill the whole time and Bill was more serious in comparison. It was a really fun fight in the end to watch.
This might be my favorite Death Battle ever. I've been wanting Bill in one since forever, and this episode was absolutely phenomenal. From animation, to the twist, the ending, the voice acting, the character impressions, everything. I didn't expect this to be that good (like Sanji vs Lee), but thankfully I was proven wrong. Something I read someone say that I love: When Discord says "I have seen your show, and I know how you die" he wasn't just talking about "he entered someone's mind then got erased" aspect. He was talking about the fact that he died with someone selflessly sacrificing themselves for their loved ones. So Discord did exactly what Stan did.

Genuinely really one of the best endings in the entire franchise to me, Discor saving all his loved ones, Equestria and being a troll til the very end.
After all the years of being worried and scorned over this match, seeing all my friends who are family to me, some of every first best friends I ever made around here, and myself credited for assisting in research, I couldn’t be happier to see this episode turn out so well.

And the dilivery of "your old home" is fucking amazing, shows that he knows that those words would to more damage to him than even killing him, he failed to his goal to a being he considers his lesser and is now trapped back in the nightmare dimension, they both know that this is bill's loss and discord RELISHES it
It genuinely makes me happy that this isn't even considered a victory for either of them. While Bill won the fight physically, Discord both saved the day, and will return soon enough. But, he still lost. Bill won the fight, but was taken out of his weirdmageddon, which ruined all his hard work, and is now stuck there for another few hundred years.

Actually surprised you didn’t mention the fact that there were a few moments during the fight where Bill actually found Discord charming. “Come on man! What are you doing?” When Discord tries dropping an anvil on top of him, and he genuinely laughs at Discord’s “a tad Euclidean for my taste” barb.

As much of an MLP:FIM fan I am, JUST NOW realizing the note that Discord wrote at the beginning and left for the Mane 6 to read is fucking heart breaking. That made me cry, I'm not gonna lie. That note at the end is a cinematic masterpiece. Discord knew he'd lose and he left a goodbye note for the ponies he loves. Dude, that is... I'm, legit, crying because of that... Fucking hell...
He probably did that to just surprise them when he comes back. He'll visit his own grave with the ponies to surprise them.

This is honestly my new favorite episode in the show. Everything from the analysis, editing, fight, etc oozes passion. A huge love letter to the community at large, and it’s the fight that makes me the happiest being a part of this community.

Gravity falls is far more manageable to pull off. Hell, one can argue you finish the show in less than a week if you have enough free time to pull it off.

Discord’s final lines were so badass and terrifying and the emotion in Discords tone is legit gave me chills.

One thing I thought about is that when Discord says "I know how you die", it can be interpreted as Discord acknowledging that *he knows he won't be the one to kill him*. He knows that Bill will meet his end in Stanly's mind anyways. That even if Bill gets out, it will only be to go straight to his canonical death.

I went into this knowing nothing about Discord. And even though I’m a fan of Gravity Falls and like Bill as a villain I still didn’t really thing I’d would actually care about the episode… BUT BOY WAS I WRONG! This is definitely my favorite of the season
I think that ending brings a whole new interpretation of Discords "I know how you die" line. Like he was aware he couldn't win, but knew Bill could be outsmarted and made him tunnelvision, just like in the final part of Weirdmageddon.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes, because weirdly enough, the episode felt just long enough, and escalated in a way that didn't feel rushed to me.

Honestly, this is my new favorite episode of the season and is tied with Saitama vs Popeye as my second favorite episode of the show. All of the effort and passion that was put into the episode was well worth it. The build up to this episode made it feel like an event, and for all intents and purposes, it absolutely was.
Also, don’t worry, you might show up later on in the season. Remember Steven vs Star and Korra vs Storm?

As someone who doesnt care for either series, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the battle. They clearly spent so much time and effort into making this match worth it and it shows. While I was rooting for Discord since he was the hero for the match, I knew the second he said "I know how you die" he was going to recreate what happened in gravity falls and sacrafice himself. The fact he saved Equastria and sent Bill back into the nightmare realm was insane.
Probably my 3rd favorite death battle. Up there with Mickey vs Yoda and Sauron vs Litch king.
There are so many little details in this animation. I noticed on my first viewing that when Discord and Bill are fighting with their toy versions, you can see that while Discord is noticeably more beat up and injured, Bill only has a few scratches and is more annoyed than anything. This is great foreshadowing and just a great conveyance of the dynamic of the fight.
In regard to fluttershy being in danger by a being in the same ball park as discord power wise (seeing as how he reacted when she was simply kidnapped by the bug) I find it hard to accept he would have played around, unless he had a plan for how he wanted this battle to go, even if that meant being killed to halo respawn back in Equestria.
I love the theory that since Discord can’t die as long as chaos exists, he made the sacrifice play not only to keep his friends safe, but to check out how they would react if he died permanently. That coupled with him remembering what fluttershy said “What if you had some pony you could discuss chaos based magic with?” makes Discord want to see if he can come back and talk with Bill later as the only other person he can do these kinds of things with.

Even more so because Bill knows that too.
Bill knows that even though he won, so did his opponent. Even if Bill got backs to equestria at some point, the fact he; a so call 'all seeing god', couldn't even see his opponent's true plan until its too late and that same opponent laughing at him even in death. His pride is without a doubt not letting go of that anytime soon.

The closest thing I have to a complaint is the biggest nitpick I can think of: in the track, Discords lines are delivered in his voice more or less, but Bills lines are more or less just Brandon’s regular voice. And that’s like not even a complaint ,it’s at most .0000000001% off the 1000000000% this episode gets (and the song is perfect too). Also, I read someone else’s comment on Reddit that the letter Discord writes probably includes instructions to Pinkie Pie on how to throw a party so chaotic hed be able to return to ease, which just sounds perfect.
Best episode of the season imo I think it’s great and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has for us

Bill's tunnel vision on beating discord is what left him to being tricked. Like Bill wouldn't be focusing on anything other than Discord because he views him as a legit threat. I love how they added his tunnel vision into this because Bill doesn't care about anything that isn't a threat to him, so yeah he wouldn't notice the enviroment around him changing.
I loved this fight, even though I've barely seen any My Little Pony I was still kinda able to get a soft understanding of the character. Everything seemed like something the characters would do, the way Bill won but still lost is just perfect. The final scene of how he was able to just put his hand into his head and grab Discord.
Same, from the other perspective (knowing lots of My Little Pony but barely any Gravity Falls).
Discord’s first line in the show: “Make sense? What fun is there in making sense?”

Bill Vs Discord is just top tier in terms of UA-cam crossover content and ended up walking away with being my 3rd favorite episode of all time. If the season finale can end up half as good as this I'd be more than willing to call S10 my favorite season of the show

It's likely a stretch, but considering he sacrifices himself to stop weirdmagedon is similar to Stanford. And it helps with thinking that the note Discord writes at the start was him telling the ponies what happened, thinking he knows he won't kill Bill.

At the very start of the fight in the weirdmaggedon, i genuinely couldn't tell if it was directly out of the show or not, it was awesome
Discord tricking bill and sacrificing himself to protect his friend seems like a rule break for death battle because they try to cut off emotions to have them fight at their fullest but the funny thing is rule break is what they're good at so it makes sense story wise

I have been waiting for this matchup to happen for years, and once it was announced it won the 2D poll, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for an upcoming matchup. This episode was literally everything I could’ve wanted and more. This is easily my new favorite episode of not just Death Battle, but any versus show period, and this review made me love this episode more than I already do. This might honestly be my favorite DB review you’ve done so far.
Legit this is my fav episode of the show now. It was such a love letter to not just Gravity Falls and MLP, but the Death Battle Community. It was a joy to watch and seeing my name pop up made me so happy I can't even begin to describe it. Thanks for the name drop btw

Not only is this one of my top 5 episodes of all time, but in my personal opinion is my favorite of your reviews. "Bill may be an all seeing equilateral deity. But I'm just a pumpkin" with the PERFECTLY timed cut to live action, had me rolling along with several other jokes. I recognize the amount of work you've put in to not be "the negative one" like everyone says you are, you keep nitpicks to just that, nitpicks, but still give them the time their worth because they are genuine flaws, but don't bring down the overall experience in the episode. Well, TBH, Bill only won because of a technicality in their rules because it went into a stalemate, where they gauged the ability of the participant to come back from being erased from existence.
Bill can come back quickly as long as he lives rent free inside of someone's head, while Discord takes some time to come back via Chaos Energy.
The fight came down to literally not who's the strongeat, but who can come back from being erased first.
Discord is indeed slightly stronger than Bill and wins if the fight stretches for thousands of years, but this technicality means that by Death Battle Rules, he lost because his healing factor takes too long.
This man deep dived into one of the most gripping and mind-bending animated television shows (and Gravity Falls) just so he could have a full comprehensive understanding of this death battle. Mad respect.
I hated the fact that Discord ''lost'' (tho actually can come back without help while Bill can't) but I just can't bring myself to not love everything else about the episode. The worst part of the episode was it's trailer honestly

One thing I really like about this Death Battle is that it has an actual narrative. It's not just Characters show up > contrive a reason to fight > fight > we have a winner (not that there's anything wrong with that) but there's an actual story going on that's bigger than the fight itself.
I wish more Death Battles took place within a story like this one.

Fairly certain that there are two kinds of people: Those who think this is the best episode of all time, and those who would put this on their top 10, if not top 5.
This was not only just another death battle, but one that told a damn good story. So much so that I didn’t realize until you pointed it out how Discord had seemingly changed the location of the fight when they were sock puppets.
It was perfect how both were shown off and how we could argue that at some point in this fight (whether at the start, Discord changing locations or when he tried to take out Bill how he went out in Gravity Falls), he knew he wasn’t going to win and this changed the fight to “trap bill” compared to just defeat him.
The other thing I loved is how Bill dealt with this. Yes, he may or may not know how he lost against the Pines, but it felt like Discord mistook the ending. If we think about it, Bill “died” when he invaded Stan’s mind (while he had no means to escape during the mind eraser), but if you invade Bill’s mind, he could still likely do something like reach into his own mind and pull out Discord.
Either way, this was definitely one of the best episodes we got as of late, if not ever. It feels like the champions who voted chose wisely and we can only hope Cole vs Mercer is able to tap into a percentage of what we got here.

Also, I agree with you fully on the episode. One of the best in the series and easily one of the best this season so far, which is suprising since we have had some pretty good episodes this season in my eyes (Chosenborn, Vader/Obito, and the one you haven't watched and don't want to watch). Only very VERY minor things wrong that don't take away from it at all. A fitting episode for one of the ballot winners for this season and while I am concerned Colex may not be on the same level as Bill vs. Discord, I still think it will turn out good just by how the other 3D fights this season have gone.

This episode made me *feel* things, and enjoy the show in a way I haven’t in a bit, at least to this degree.
I love it so much, it was an immediate favorite and I’m so happy someone was able to put everything into words exactly why.
I think this is the first episode where both sides of the fans can be truly happy, Bill won the fight, and discord was an absolute chadsicle.
The craziest thing is how Bill Cipher liked some of the things Discord did which is akin to S9 of MLP where Tirek and Chrysalis talk about how much better Discord used to be before he was “plagued” with Friendship. So them having Bill display some level of respect for what Discord can do vs what Discord was doing this all for.
Like the final antagonist of MLP still not comprehending friendship and kindness, Bill also just doesn’t comprehend why Discord did what he did. Genuine masterpiece of writing and I genuinely don’t think Death Battle could ever pull off such character accuracy than Discord vs Bill imo
I still think Discord should’ve won since he has more concrete proof of his scaling vs Bill’s more 'questionable' feats, but everything else was perfect
I think this is tied with Diocard for my top episode of all time. Both are absolutely stellar in practically every category, and both got me to almost immediately dive straight into media I was completely unfamiliar with.

This episode finally trumped Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon as my favorite of season 10. The amount of passion, love, and just overall creativity for this fight was spot on for both characters. This episode took all the good parts of Deadpool vs The Mask and made them even better. One key detail that made this episode 100x better than Twilight vs Raven for me was how the fight ended. Even though Discord knew that he was gonna die he was gonna make sure that Bill could never harm anyone in the multiverse and basically sealed himself and Bill knowing what was gonna happen. So from a story narrative Discord also got the victory as well while Bill was the winner of the fight Discord won the war.
This is honestly a 10/10 for me for me. The only other episode that got this rating was the previously mentioned Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon. I'm hoping that when we get Prototype vs Infamous in 2 weeks the episode is just as good as this week's.
This battle feels like this would be written in an actual crossover between the two.

Side note I love how you decided to watch both series completely. Reminds me how Ian McKellen read into J.R. Tolkien extensively to get into the character Gandalf back when Hollywood actors actually gave a shit.
The amount of easter eggs to various memes, community members, matchups, etc. It's literally enough to make a book about. That's not even addressing the overall quality of the episode, and it doesn't take an over analyzer to say its fucking golden. The analysis, the debate, the fight, the track, the EVERYTHING that was put into here, words cannot describe how much this episode absolutely blew my mind. This episode isn't my favorite of the season, it's my favorite episode of the SHOW period. Any criticisms I may have would just be minor nitpicks that don't affect my opinion in the slightest. I can go on and on about how much i love this episode, but it would take all day if i did. An absolute. Flawless. 10/10.
While don't agree with the verdict and have problems with how they interpret some of Bill feats. I can't deny the quality and that this was the best episode of the season so far and probably the best episode of the series. In fact I see a lot of people who disagree with the results, but still love the episode. I definitely think a good chunk of it was Discord being treated with a lot of respect, screwing over Bill, and being implied that he'll most likely return one day.

God, this episode is just Amazing! I love everything about it, Animation, visuals, editing, voice acting, and overall narrative! It's down right perfect. Also it's always Wholesome to see Nem incredibly happy about a battle.
This was so creative and art style constantly changing is so fitting.
The fact u replicated the stained glass thing for Bill is genuinely based.

23:33 "I've seen your show, Bill... and I know *how you die*." -You talked about it but it bears repeating. So good, and confirms Discord went in with more forethought than Bill.
"Ooooh, you think we're EQUALS?!" -So damn raw and such a great way to show off Bill's arrogance and power in a single line.
"Discord?" -In hindsight this is incredibly heartbreaking from Fluttershy.
"Okay... no big deal... *I've done this before*" -Truly intimidating. Partly because (even if Bill is coping) it's true. Discord's victory is temporary.
Pretty much the entirety of the song they used as a backtrack. "A talking triangle taking me on? That's acute." "For an isoceles you sure can be more than a bit obtuse"
I absolutely love how you came to the same conclusion as I did when I say that Bill won on the surface level to win the death battle, but Discord won in all the ways that matter. I honestly love the layered takes death battle has been doing with their wins and losses. This and Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer have some very satisfying and kinda layered endings and I hope the show kinda keeps up with that.
Well, fuck. Seems we share similar opinions since this is probably my new favorite episode. I just love the feel of 'Bill won the (Death) Battle, but not the war' it has, on top of just the sheer chaos and creativity. 10/10, I love it

Do you think Bill crushed Discord with a knight in particular because...you know...knights slay dragons? That was the attack that technically "killed" Discord, after all
I don’t care for either series, but this is easily a new top 5 episode.
For one, this is actually evenly matched with Bill only barely getting the win (unlike most matches where they say it’s close but then give evidence as to why it’s a stomp, it’s actually close here since they can both kill each other).
2) the humor is spot on.
3) the ultimate troll ending.
One of the key reasons why this episode was so great is because it was storyboarded by John Mitchell, aka DYWTBA_Brony.
Prior to working for Death Battle, he did reactions to various television shows here on UA-cam and took an especially great liking to MLP and Gravity Falls.
You can even see his pony OC in the fight animation. It’s the “bootleg merchandise” that you see Bill glue onto his throne.
Oh really that’s so awesome he was the first channel I watched reacting to MLP back in the day, he’s one of the biggest reasons for joining the brony community at the time, that’s so cool how he got storyboard this episode

The weird day instead of green day. This is a pause episode you have to pause to see it all.
While chunks of this went over my head, your analysis helped to make sense of it. I already thought it was brilliant, this is perfect.
Surprised you didn’t mention Bill’s line, “Oh well, not like I haven’t done this before.” It shows that while Bill is trapped, he ultimately won the war even if he lost the fight.
Not just that, the different types of animation work beautifully as it shows the eldritchian nature of these characters
What’s funny about these characters, is you can buy their different voices if they’re close due to their natures as fairly conceptual beings.

This episode feels as high effort as something that past seasons would reserve for a finale.
Being honest here: the only iffy thing that I feel did not make sense is that Bill is not affected by grogar's bell... they compared an artifact that is used by one of the greatest evils to magic in gravity falls... also no sources lead to a multiversal bill. Best episode still but just a few issues with the analysis.
This is probably my new favorite Death Battle, period. I love both shows, and they did both of them justice.

Don't mind if I copy paste my reddit Theory of how Discord planned everything because he knew from the start that he would lose in this episode?
1: He said goobye to the yellow pony, knowing he wouldn't see her again.
2: He left a letter to imply that he was the one that got rid of Bill.
3: At the begging of the fight he turned the statue ponies back to normal in the background while Bill was morphing gravity.
4: After the whole bubbles transition he got rid of the bubbles and the interdimensional monsters.
5: Finally, he teleported Bill into his original dimension, trapped him there and ended Weirdmaggedon.
To sum up, Discord always knew that he wouldn't defeat Bill so the whole fight was just Discord distracting him while he "fixed" all the chaos the latter brought upon his world and then trapped him.
Absolutely one of my all time favorite episodes now, just is so strong all around

This really was an awesone episode. They really did an amazing job on all aspects. I am on the side that Discord technically would lose? There's no reason why Discord couldn't have been using one of his many clones, or just leave the dimension before the killing blow. The chaos around them would be one hell of a boost for Discord. Still, the rescue of his dimension was one hell of a play by Discord.
This episode is basically deadpool vs pinkie pie done right.
Great review I knew I could rely you on you in pointing out the details of what makes an already great battle and analysis in to an ever better one. The episode truly felt like an absolute highlight of the series of the shows and death battle as a whole. They did such an amazing job.
This episode made me genuinely care for discord a character I knew nothing about from a series I had no interest in watching but something about his lines endear me to him. Also hearing flutter shy calling out to discord was insanely heartbreaking. Again if this episode was able to make me care for one of its characters in only 10 or so minutes that’s a huge achievement. It’s definitely my favourite episode death battle has ever done.
I found it funny that Discord was pretty much trolling Bill the whole time and Bill was more serious in comparison. It was a really fun fight in the end to watch.

This might be my favorite Death Battle ever. I've been wanting Bill in one since forever, and this episode was absolutely phenomenal. From animation, to the twist, the ending, the voice acting, the character impressions, everything. I didn't expect this to be that good (like Sanji vs Lee), but thankfully I was proven wrong.
