From the Philippines, garnered 193/200, I'm 62 years old, and I have a passion for quizzes even in my old age, these keep me young in mind and heart. By the way, regarding question # 178, Hawaii is the "50th state" of America, and this is where the world's largest active volcano is located, said volcano is called "Mauna Loa", just to be specific. Thanks to the quizzes. GOD bless...
Scored 171 with 2 exrtra questions correct. Question 69 A kipper is a smoked herrring not smoked haddock What is another name for smoked haddock? -- Question asked on google. The finnan is also sometimes known as finnan haddie or Findon Haddock. The English word haddock is used in France to describe smoked haddock, particularly the finnan. Steve
Thanks for commenting. Although a kipper can be any smoked fish, it's usually a herring. And that's what I meant to write. Somehow I managed to change it to haddock, god knows how that happened. My bad, I know the difference between a haddock and herring. It should have read herring. Humble apologies.
Lost concentration between 51-100 and ended up with 176/200. Bonuses Cornwall for the pasty, Booboo is Yogi's sidekick, and maybe Mauna Kea for the volcano. Good quiz as always
I surprised myself on this!! I got 122 correct + Boo Boo on # 31, thank you I feel OK with my score as I usually don't even do 100 question quizzes!! Have a g free at day!!😊😊😊
Phew… That was a test 168/200 😅 So glad my lovely wife had picked up her book and did not miss me 🤣 Great quiz, really enjoyed the test, serious congrats to the quiz master 👏 👏 Thanks again 🇬🇧
Amazingly, only 39 incorrect. A colossal quiz, which I commend you for taking on. Thank you for your commitment and efforts. Much appreciated. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Cheers! 🍻
185/200 I have to admit it was quite difficult. I used the sliderule many years ago. The volcano is in Hawaii, but I can't recall the name. Thank you Ben for a great quiz. 💕
Oh yes, Mauna Loa is bigger than Mauna Kea, but appropriately Loa is lower! Kilaueu Crater (I've probably misspelt that) is the one that is constantly erupting.
I'm all ready to type in 95/100 (I was dumb about the Pyramids, melonballers, Earth's rotation, baby vitamins & our water content) then I saw there was still 100 to go. OK. I'll edit this when I get back...I got 10 wrong in that second half so 185/200. I checked that hottest temperature, which is a bit of a tricky one. The Libyan one in the Sahara desert was disqualified over dubious recording methods which have also cast doubts on the Death Valley measurement, but for some reason they have let that one stand. Interestingly, because it is so near to the Sun that all planets revolve around, ALL the planets have Mercury as their nearest planet by average!
Just trying to assess that factoid about Mercury being closest on average. I'm inclined to think, yes of course it is. (I guessed Mars before I thought of that argument).
I scored 189 out of 200. The 3 extra questions answers are: pasty (s) originated in Cornwall, Yogi Bear's sidekick was Boo-Boo and the world's largest active volcano is Mauna Loa
182/200. Cornwall, BooBoo, Krakatoa, Hawaii. Super. Retired science teacher......enjoyed it. Keeps my brain working. Slide rule? Yes in college. Still have it. Handy sometimes.
166/200. As to the extra points, Boo Boo and the volcano is in the Hawaiian Islands and starts with a K. Yes, my dad and I used a slide rule when we were building a garage when I was a kid.
Smoked haddock is most certainly not a kipper. A kipper is a smoked herring, one of my favourite breakfast dishes in the winter There are many words for various types of fish, fresh, pickled and smoked. A dangerous question for someone to ask who is not fully researched. Various cultures will have names for smoked haddock. Smokies in Arbroath, Scotland.
Yes, sorry. I didn't need to research that one, I'm English and have eaten them many times myself. I just had a brain malfunction when I wrote that question. No idea how I didn't notice, but these things happen when you are writing questions all day. I have already pointed out the error in a pinned comment. Sorry.
Cornwall...pasty/Booboo...Yogie's sidekick. Missed 4 in the first hundred questions and 3 in the last hundred questions. The volcano is in Hawaii...Mauna loa is largest but Mauna kea is taller. had to look that one up.
187. Cornwall for the pastie, Boo boo for Logies side kick, don’t know the name of the volcano but I knew it was in the US. St Helen’s? I’ll look it up. A good way to end the weekend, thanks Ben.
I'm improving. Just did this again and I got 166! ( I didn't realize I had already done it 3 months ago until I saw my comment! LOL) First time I only got 157.
I think you have the best quizzes. 76 + 83, in 15 and 14 minutes respectively. (Either I know the answer straight off, of make a quick guess, and jump to the next question. Taking time to second-guess myself usually puts me wrong more often than right). I found it a LOT harder than your geography/science quizzes, I'm crap on food.
To be honest, 193 my result, someone thanks to the knowledge of Italian (some of the questions in fact I translated them mentally)... The only flaw in these quizzes, which I personally notice, is the lack of questions about music in general, from today's songs in the top, (to give an example), to the other obscure facts of the subject. Another topic, but here perhaps I am slightly mistaken, that is underrepresented is sports, in which I believe there are also trivia facts to be asked, in addition to questions like "the area of the soccer field" (another very trivial example)
