Will OLEKSANDR USYK get a fair crack of the judges whip?

  • There is no doubt that everyone from the relevant promoters to the Excellent Turkey are quietly hoping that Tyson Fury beats Oleksandr Usyk. Why? Because all concerned are desperate to see a Fury vs Anthony Joshua behemoth block-buster at Wembley Stadium. This therefore begs the question of whether Usyk can win a close fight on the cards. Will the judges judge fairly, or will anything that is 50/50 go the way of the promoters' desired victor?

I think Usyk can make the greedy belly quit.

One would think that Bob, Bricktop and Eddies powers combined mean that everything will be stacked in Furys favour, and every traditional form of shenanigans available to help Fury get it done. However, the Excellent One is very much a fan and idealist, and it's possible that puts a hard cap on how much you can get away with at "his" shows.

If fury just makes it close enough and it goes to points he’s 100% getting the decision we all know it.

I would be very very surprised if Fury wins this fight even with all the likely advantages he's got with the officiating. Never have I seen a fighter so nervous before a big one ; he looks to me like a man thats already beaten.

Though it's clear that those in the business side of things will desperately want Fury to win, Turki salt & shake will want to ensure both fighters get fair treatment in my opinion, whether that's with the judging, the ref, the ring and etc. The saudi's strike me as the kind of people who want to achieve a good reputation and will want to maintain a positive relationship with all the fighters they work with. On such a mega stage, a robbery would cause a hell of a stink with the public, I don't think the saudi's will want that. Usyk's team have made complaints about the seams of the canvas, but honestly I think that's just a bit of mind games from them. Another factor to consider is the crowd and how that can affect the judges scores. Neither fighter is in home turf, and we know that it's a quieter atmosphere there. Back in the UK, AJ or Fury could start morris dancing and the crowd would go nuts, Fury won't have that advantage in saudi. I think both fighters are aiming for a KO in this fight anyway so it might not even come to the scorecards.

As someone who entertains, not buys into every, theories. It’s normally the one area where this channel normally slaps that kind of talk to one side, sometimes quite derogatorily. Nice to see two videos now at least discussing these ideas. Furys weight and now the judges.
For what it’s worth on the judging matter I agree more with your take that things might just be slightly tilted in fury’s favour. However there are enough people/channels that talk like Usyk is the golden boy who will get things his way like with low blows or things like that.
One thing i am interested in is how people might perceive what could be a close fight depending on what broadcaster they use. Unusual to have three separate channels for one fight in this country.

I tend to agree with you joe( fury& his team seem to have the upper hand in-terms of influencing the judges etc ??) i still think if fury brings his A-game he can win on merit by using all the strengths he has to his advantage, but i would not rule out a controversial draw either just like what happened all these years ago in the last undisputed between Lewis and Hollyfield🥊

I’ve said it for a while, the ref and judges could well be just a little bias if not blatantly bias towards UYSK,, shake Turkey and Tyson best mates, Eddie Hearn want Tyson to win so he can get Aj fury rolling, UYSK has git his work cutout for sure 🙏🏼🥊🥊

Usyk will KNOW already he will absolutely not get fair judging and he will be looking for a stoppage if Fury gets tired in later rounds. What I am worried about is a premature stoppage by the REF. We have seen some awful stoppages in the past far too premature, with a guy clearly covering up and not being hit and the ref jumps in to stop it. There are more than one way to CORRUPT a fight outcome in a certain fighters favour. I just hope the ref is fair.

If Usyk legitimately wins the fight but the judges score it for Fury it would really sour any potential fight with AJ as it would mean boxing really is only about the money nowadays and nothing to do who’s the best. Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing AJ v Fury even if Fury loses, that’s a much better result for boxing, we need this fight to be fair.

I hope he gets a fair crack but I honestly don't know. I want to remain optimistic that the Excellent Turkey will make sure it is a fair fight. This fight is kinda giving me Klitschko vs Fury vibes but with Fury in Klitschkos position now and Usyk in Furys. I wonder if Fury is feeling that kinda vibe too.

Usyk has to beat Fury (to a bare minimum) the way Bivol beat Canelo. Total domination by Bivol, and the fight was still close on the cards....

It bothers me more so that it’s become accepted as a legitimate skill for fury to hold and lean all his weight on opponents to tire them out, it’s bollocks to me and far from the pugilistic greatness he’s claimed so long, I’m legitimately concerned he could get the nod using some bullshit roughing up nonsense rather than box or fight to a victory

  • @jezedwards3858

Joe, I actually think there is more chance of Fury fighting Joshua if he loses to Usyk. That 0 has dominated his whole career since Klitschko. It’s pretty obvious that as the natural heavyweight, he should win, in which case he will not take another chance, he will definitely retire. If he loses, he isn’t only going to look silly, this loss against a “jumped up middleweight” his constant lies, cherry picks and ducks will be what he is remembered for. The trouble is, I don’t think he’s scared of fighting Usyk, he just doesn’t want to be made to look like a fool again. However, he is definitely afraid of eating hurt bad by Joshua…he felt the power and admitted to it before Joshua turned professional.

Great points and all real boxing fans have this in the back of their minds sadly. History shows that thinking 1 fight ahead (I'm sure Fury himself isn't) nearly always means you're going to lose, and I think that's what's going to happen here. Both elite boxers, but Usyk is the one that shows consistency in all of his matches, when Fury does not. In some ways it mirrors Mike Tyson vs Lennox Lewis, when a lot of people thought Iron Mike would do the job easily, but had a string of poor performances leading up to it, which the hard working and consistent Lewis exposed. Usyk for me by a wide points margin, but I still think Fury/AJ will be the next fight.

There is no way Usyk wins a close decision. I think Usyk knows this. Usyk is coming off a stoppage win where dropped Dubois multiple times Fury has been down 7 times. I am not sure that Usyk knocks him out cold but I think he will drop fury enough times that either Fury can’t win a points victory or Usyk gets the stoppage. I don’t think Fury hits anywhere near hard enough to stop Usyk when you go back and look at the punches AJ landed on Usyk and he took well.

I'm very worried that Usyk will not get a fair shake in this fight and he will have to absolutely school Fury to get a decision. As Fury is the Boxing Industry fave any close rounds will go to him whether he deserves them or not... It will be like Bivol vs Canelo, where one judge gave some early rounds to Canelo although Bivol clearly won them... It's a shame that a sport I love has a reputation of being so crooked but this is what we have to deal with... I hope I'm wrong and all is fair in love and war....
I actually belive Usyk will win this fight comfortably as Fury has not been in top form for a while now. Altho I say that I really want Tyson to surprise us all with a great performance so we can get a classic humdinger of a fight....

Why can't we be revolutionary and just take out score cards. You either win by knockout. If not its a mandatory requirement match. Constant rematches until a knockout win. The first man to decline the rematch ...is not the winner. Notice how I said not the winner as opposed to loser. There are no losers in boxing.
