  • I had the opportunity to drive a XPeng G9 for a couple days. In this video I want to show you how Xpeng FSD (XNGP) performs while driving on highways and in Beijing.

Good progress. Your definition of city driving is different than Teslas. This wasn’t very challenging compared to my daily drives

There's a preference setting for lane keeping. I think left lane is the default.

I think it did pretty well, didn't it? Those city situations look pretty damn hectic. I think there might be a weak spot in the front corners where two camera views intersect, and it goes from a full-camera on the front to a wide-angle camera on the side). Maybe that throws off depth perception.
That black car was in that tricky spot the entire time while merging and on your dashboard it seems the car thinks it's further away than it really is. Then when it gets close it detects it properly and hits the breaks.
I also recognize the annoying slowing down in curves too much from driving my European version (with way less advanced self-driving). There's a big update coming for the European version this month and they plan to roll out NGP for highways this year. XNGP next year.
Anyway, really cool video to see. I hope you'll do another test in some time to see how it improves. I think they've just released XNGP China-wide? Try it out!

80 on the highway? Is that for real? And slowing down to 54 on a simple curve in the middle of the highway? Thats even forbidden here in the middle of Europe.

It’s a 2x2 road not sure it’s actually a highway lol. But during the video there’s definitely a highway. With 120 speed limit.

      @@TheFrenchCARnection 120 is ok.
We are not allowed to drive less than 60 besides in an emergency on our faster streets like Freeways, Highways or the Autobahn.
Or in certain places with speed limits. Actually we have at least one curve that has a limit of 40.

Looks fairly impressive otherwise, I've been using teslas fsd for about 2 years and It's hard to imagine it messing up this bad, teslas actually seems worse in managing easy navigation stuff like merging lanes. (This never works on tesla)
But I use it every day and sadly likely can't live without it now, at 10k usd it is probabaly worth it in its current state depending on where you live (not a major city center)

I’m not really a fan of those “FSD” system. You spend more time babysitting sitting them than anything.

The software highlights in red the car in the moment of the crash. The software knows. Maybe was going to break , I don’t know

It seems that it thought the car was further away than it really was. Maybe a combination of the color and it being a long time in the corner angle where two cameras angles intersect? I notice on my G9 that those corner areas it switches from a wide-view camera to a normal camera.

But this is in Europa, isn't it? Xpeng is rewriting the software to make it work as it does in China to understand the signs well... Not the software recognize vehicles, humans (even disguised policemen!), animals, ...) but not all the specific signs... In Europa the speed limit is changing with indications, which is quite never the case in China. Users adapt speed limit according to conditions, these are not traffic signs, which can give orders to all road users! It depends of the weather, the vehicles on the road and the tyres type and tyres wear level... So indications are more restrictive and not letting any part of creativity in Europa. Xpeng is adapting XNGP, even pretending they need to rewrite it for Europa, while only few things are different, but they are different from place to place... Even highways indications do not have the same colour in Switzerland and France, they are exactly the contrary, blue for highway in France, and green in Switzerland, but secondary roads are indicated with green traffic signs in France, and blue in Switzerland! The panels should communicate positively with vehicles and be humano-normed EJFJ since March 15th, 1996...
