So I like what she's saying but isn't the point of the Bible that because we fell into sin nature our default is the "toxic trees" and thus we need salvation through Jesus and the Holy Spirit to be able to reconnect with God and be who He created us to be? I understand she's talking to a church so maybe this is assumed, but it sounds like she's saying that since we were all designed in God's image this way that we can all just think our way into being the perfect loving humans he made us to be saved or not - but the BIble would say no matter how hard we try we will never be our ideal human self (like Christ) without Christ in us and his redemption. This sounds very much like positive thinking which has its place, but true transformation and freedom comes from Christ and Christ alone and the only renewing of our mind that is going to change us to what we were meant to be is the truth of scripture and love of Christ. Changing your thinking can only go so far without the Holy Spirit in you! So I'm curious to hear what Dr. Leaf has to say about this. In her scientific theology where does salvation come in?
I hope I can help clarify because you are so close. I also know I won't get this all right because I am learning. I ask for your forgiveness for what I mess up but I will try. I encourage you to study more. God is a God of LOVE. I believe that Dr. Leaf would answer that we are designed in the image of God and that our nature is the Perfect You that God has designed. She would also add that yes we are in a fallen world and that fact creates toxic trees in our brain that we didn't choose. But we also make choices that create toxic trees. Dr. Leaf teaches that we have the responsibility to choose and reach up to Christ to receive His grace and when a toxic tree comes into our mind, we should capture that thought and bring it into subjection to Christ. She teaches a process of receiving Christ's grace to remove the toxic trees that are not aligned with His preferred way. Sorry, this is so short, but I need to run. There is a beautiful connection between what you have expressed, Christ's victory, and Dr. Leaf.
Good observation...Jesus said He could do nothing/no-thing in His own strength and He said we can do nothing/no-thing on our own. The word "Receive" is in the New Testament (KJV) 257x....so we should be learning how to receive Jesus' love, receive Jesus' healing and forgiveness, receive Jesus' mind/thoughts, receive Jesus' spirit of surrender. Proverbs tells us that words have the power of death and life...as we speak words of receiving what Jesus has already done, 2,000 years ago, in the past, we can be speaking words of life. I love what she is saying, I love the way she integrates scripture and science. And assuming that people understand we need to depend on God and Jesus, can leave the door open to "self-help" and "self-will" where we end up trying harder to do what we are already unable to do. I have major depression and anxiety with underlying depression since childhood and trauma and I am tired and don't want to try anymore. Even medications don't help much. I don't know what to look forward to anymore. What is life all about? I have been saved for many years and still struggle with depression and now don't want to work anymore. Sometimes I wish that God would take me home. I don't want to get old and experience anymore loss. I took care of so many family members and now don't even want to help myself.
Oh my gosh this message burns so hard into my heart! This past year I went through a Neurocycle and was completely 100% depression free by week six of her 10 week program!

My father has gone from his brother's home at winter night,no one knows where he is. His phone was left, sometimes he had some mental issues. So we''ve been calling police, and I was searching him with my friend, after 4 ours(temperature was about -20 Celsius ), I can't explain what I felt...After another turn,I've seen my father headed straight forward,he was trying to find our home(we live separately) .Our Lord is wonderful, and His Love is so strong!
I see it as emphasis on self's identity as child of God. And if we have identified and remember that we are the children of God, we have no fear and we would bring our thoughts back to the words of God. So the issue is that we know our identity as children of God... Many times, in situations of panic and despair and when life gets tough, it is easy to let fear overtake our minds and we forget our identity as God's children and therefore our salvation.

I think the issue is not about knowing who we are, but knowing who God is and his identity. Too much emphasis on SELF vs emphasis on God.
I see it as emphasis on self's identity as child of God. And if we have identified and remember that we are the children of God, we have no fear and we would bring our thoughts back to the words of God. So the issue is that we know our identity as children of God... Many times, in situations of panic and despair and when life gets tough, it is easy to let fear overtake our minds and we forget our identity as God's children and therefore our salvation.
Supermike ...may i say it is difficult to fathom God / the Wisdom of God but to just know that God loves you by reading and understanding the Guidelines that cän be read in the Bible then you can understand your identity that you are created by the loving and powerful Mercy of God.
Mari Brunnsteiner I think the scripture is pretty clear on what it says. Scripture isn’t in question the teaching in this video is in question. Nowhere in Scripture can you find the emphasis put on self like the Teachings in this video.

This is what I'm talking about, I'm am a spiritual soul full of knowledge and full of bliss internal I'm not this body, the reason why we have a material body is that we have forgotten who we are. and science tells me that I'm in this body and this is illusion thinking I'm this body. God wants us to follow his commandments, even his son asks us to follow his father's laws. science tells us for every action there is a reaction.
