    I have some questions, what happens after you hand screw those bolts in? Does someone tighten them up more securely? Also what are those long steel things for?

    • @simpleman7446
      @simpleman7446 5 років тому

      Two connecting bolts with a full nut is all you need when you make a connection, bolt up comes behind finishing the bolt out of the connection.those long steel things is a sleever bar used for leverage and helps with control of prying in steel 30 in. Otc or 36in klein bar for bigger iron anything bigger than that you need a come along

    • @Youbet3562

    • @JensUlven

      Brand new. The hardest part of making bolts is filing the threads precisely so the nut will go on.

    I cannot believe you are using those kevlar chockers to connect iron nylons are for women

    • @JensUlven
      @JensUlven  7 років тому

      Hahaha! Should have been a 3/8 with a wrap with the bent plate on a piece that weighed under 100lbs! Way more gooder!

    • @simpleman7446
      @simpleman7446 5 років тому

      Nylons dont kink useful in rigging to a degree i prolly would have run a 6'half inch on a straight pull with a shackle through that center hole just to be safe.. Ive seen w4's w6's come out the 3/8 due to not enough weight causing not enough bite...nylons perform best up there with grey and black
      Real rigging..get you somee 50 ton shackles 20 ton chain falls pneumatic then u really doin something...pipe is another tricky bastard..good times chasin the hook.. Nothing like it

    • @Youbet3562
      @Youbet3562 5 років тому

      Nylons are for women? You clearly never done any big iron jobs! The biggest iron is always down with nylons. But to put it on bread with bent plate is ridiculous. 3/8”s with a wrap unless you’re hanging a cantilever over the street, then shackle in.

    • @drunkmike9943
      @drunkmike9943 5 років тому +1

      @@Youbet3562 You never use nylons on structural steel because the sharp corners will cut them seen it happen many times maby not on this tiny iron these guys are hanging but its just good practice never to use. If you are doing heavy rigging on a paper machine or something were some cantilever beams weigh right under 100,000 you only use nylons because you don't want to risk any damage to the equipment that a wire would do. I have never come across a cantilever beam that you would have to choke or basket they always have pad eyes or eye bolts on top witch would obviously be rigged with a shackle and a nylon on the over head crane on separate hooks on a strait pull.

  • @drunkmike9943

    Why is it commercial construction or maybe its just union construction is so lax when it comes to proper training and safety??? Industrial construction every tool must have a lanyard so its impossible to drop, Always use wire chokers on iron never use endless nylon or polyester chokers on iron , Always use softeners, Always use shackles it only makes it easier on the connectors and choker never comes off the hook, The guy two floors below flagging the crane is a big no no one of the connectors should have a radio flagging the crane other wise there is a delay in the signal to the crane operator and a lot of shit can go wrong in that short amount of time. That's just a few things you guys are doing wrong and are some of the BASIC things you learn coming up as a NON union Iron Worker other wise you guys are doing a decent job on that little iron would like to see how you do on some heavy industrial iron were you will run in to girter beams weighing 60,000 lbs and you can walk in the web of the beams.

      @@Youbet3562 Dude you have no clue. Reputable LOL its easy when you have one crew of 10 guys doing the iron on the whole job and the combined workforce on the job is 100 guys maby a few more, maby to be "reputable". Lets see how "reputable" your union is when they get on a job where the iron depot alone has 150 crews with up to 12 guys on each and trying to work around 13,000 workers in other crafts SMH. That's what its like where I just came from the US Mega Project the biggest Industrial Project in the Western Hemisphere Non Union of course since there is no union with the man power or "SKILLED" workforce to man a job of that size. LOL you haven't even set foot in the real world yet LOL the biggest job a union is doing right now has 5'000 workers and are being supported and bailed out by a non union company CB&I/McDermott with all the pre fabed Iron, Pipe, Modular components eta.....and is $28 billion over budget and theres still about 3 more years of work SMH why don't you go get a taste of that and help your worthless union brothers out and turn that job around so it will be "reputable" for the union LMAO.
