Experience the Northern Lights in Singapore with 'Borealis', a new immersive light and sound installation at Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove.
Created by Switzerland-based artist Dan Acher, Borealis is an outdoor art installation that combines layers of light and cloud particles where the magical splendour of the Northern Lights, also known as aurora borealis, is recreated to illuminate the night skies of Supertree Grove. Accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois, variations in wind, humidity and temperature make this installation a fascinating blend of art and technology, an ever-changing experience, where each encounter is unique and where nature holds the final say.
Borealis has travelled to more than 40 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia and the US, and the experience at Gardens by the Bay will mark its first time in Singapore.

This Aurora Borealis is the next best thing if we can't afford to visit the Nordic countries to see and experience it in person. This aurora show at the Gardens by the Bay is very well received and you can see from the video, that thousands of people were watching it there. This show is best viewed without the crowds, in order to enjoy the surreal atmosphere. I might revisit the show when everybody has seen it and stop going there.

The place was too crowded. The experience would be better with no crowds. Many people lie on the ground to enjoy the 'northern lights'.

Seeing an aurora at the equator is certainly a new experience! We have had good sightings of the real aurora (Australis) here in parts of New Zealand in the last few days, but I didn't get to see it myself.
It's very expensive to travel to the Nordic countries to watch the Aurora. So watching the man-made one here is the next best thing. It's also reported in the news that Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) can be seen in Australia and New Zealand. This is awesome. Hope you get to see it.

what a spectacular aurora display at the gardens by the bay! i'm planning to watch this display in july as part of my singapore trip. last weekend's real aurura was so mesmerising in both the us, canada and europe as well as australia and new zealand because of the powerful solar storm. let's hope that the management will include other aurora colours like the southern aurora australis which will be changed in the 2nd half of its 30-minute display.
The Aurora Borealis display is only on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays from May till further notice. I hope you will get to see it in July. The Aurora Australis has red and yellow colours. Hope this can be reflected in the show too.

This 'northern lights' is accompanied by beautiful music which was drowned by the huge crowd. I will visit again in a couple of months to enjoy this when the novelty wears off and it's not crowded.

except the real thing appears as VERTICAL curving curtains of light, not horizontal sheets.
