Got a chance to ride this line last May. Train 643 westbound. Backed out of PHL, went by Zoo Tower, then proceeded west via the "subway". I didn't mind one bit. Laid overnight in HBG. Had dinner at the Brownstone Cafe in Middletown. Excellent food.. Great trip!

I made a round trip Philadelphia to Harrisburg on Amtrak Keystone service. The return was on this train. Other trips on the Main Line were on PRR and later Septa trains. Relatives and friends lived in towns along this line.
Thanks for the memories. Great video!!😀😀💚💚

And another thing I share with everyone who watches this video the old clicker board that announced trains arriving at 30 Street Station in Philadelphia PA was replaced by an all digital announcement board that's found in 30 Street Station where amtrak and new jersey transit trains lower level

U.S. 30 in PA is the Lincoln Hwy, when cross the bridge over to Jersey U.S. 30 becomes the White Horse Pike. It goes from Camden NJ to Atlantic City. Rt. 168 in N.J. is the Black Horse Pike, that also starts in Camden N.J. and goes all the way to Atlantic City N.J..

When I heard that you we're going through the Overbrook section of Philly I thought of Wilt the Stilt. That's right Wilt Chamberlain grew up in the Overbrook section of Philly.

The "Route 30" you identified thru Thorndale and Downingtown is actually the Business Route 30; the main Route is a freeway located on the hillside visible in the middle distance.

Ha! Had I known you were in Harrisburg I would of tried to see you! I'm out here for a few days doing some training!
If you ever go to see the Harrisburg airport, there's a former Army Air Force plane that they used to use for training!
If you're ever need a good place to eat, check out Hoss's in Hummelstown.
I believe the switchers belong to Cleveland Cliffs which operates the Steelton Mill.
The Sheetz is technically on leased land from the Penn State University Harrison campus

I took an AMTRAK to Paoli - once - but boarded it in Washington - not Philly. The train (National Limited - successor to the 20th Century Limited) - no longer exists. Finding THAT out actually *hurt* - because I saw the original - black and white! - movie about that train - and it was sorta weird that I actually took the successor to that same train.

I wish a bunch of the stations in the Philly city limits would be opened again to serve the city folks.

@@3985uprr earlier in the operations of AMTRAK the Broadway Ltd. started in NYC down to Phil...then west to Chicago....in terms of going west of Pittsburgh the Pennsylvanian to Capital Ltd(Washington DC to Chicago) connection replaced it and is still in operation today...I believe there has been confirmation of a second Pittsburgh to Harrisburg train to begin in 2023.....I assume it will continue east and link up to the Keystone Corridor to Philadelphia and possibly then NYC....my best understanding and memory PEACE
