I think the role that new maps play is to help niche civs shine. This of course increases the amount of playability because it can help make every civ feel fun and worth playing.
they can split vikings as danish swedish norwegian; turks as ottomans seljuks; slavs as kivens and novgorod ;sarecens as mamluks abbasid or persians as akkoyunle karahannids or othersetc like they did with indians ...... but best would be instead of bring new civ just flash the olds better like why every militia line is same for every civ or cav line why persia has paladins instead chatpracts which the famous for
yeah i could get behind a rework of the Persian. get rid of their unique unit, maybe give them battle elephants or something and replace their unique unit with a cataphract unit with some difference from that of the Byzantines.
And another thing italian are not medio evo they need to fix that actually the italians that we have now are the republic of genova they need to do the same as they do whit Indians you can put the República of venice the kingdom of lombardia or tuzcany or the papal states with a massive monk bonusses etc
Bah i highly disagree with adding more factions (civs), in fact it ain't doing good to the game, it has got way more complicated and the numbers do not lie, more dlc (civs) being added haven't brought or increased the player's numbers and not many buyers of the base game have bought the latest dlc's, the majority of the costumers do not want moar factions it has always been vocal minorities who wanna see their nationalities being added, the game needs more stability in order to grow, ask any top competitive player about the game and he can tell you 5 aspects that game desperately needs to improve in order to lure more competitiveness to the scene, imagine being a new players and then having to learn 45 civs and their unique units, bonuses, tech trees, etc, there is a reason why the biggest RTS games have like 3 factions. This team in charge of the game is ruining the original game by copying aoe3/aoe4 and aoM mechanics, sandy would get a hearth attack if he would see what they have done to their original work and yeah none of the new added mechanics and functions from other games have had a positive impact in the game on the contrary most has been broken, buggy or highly imbalanced.
