As I've always said as a 13 year veteran of living on a floating home and growing up on lakefront property: a floating home is the least expensive waterfront property you can buy! Yes it comes with some caveats like a 20% min. down payment from limited lenders and even more limited expensive insurance options. The lifestyle however is worth every penny.
One pays slip rent OR HOA fees, never both. I don't think you meant to imply that but at 3:40+ it sounded like you were talking about slip rent and an HOA as an additional fee. One either rents their slip (slip rent), or owns it (HOA). I live on a floating home and so do my parents. I can attest to it being a fabulous way to live! Nice video.

I'm curious about things like battling mold or what other things are different lifestyle wise if you live on a floating platform house like this

Thanks Stan, I appreciate you sharing your insights. Do you have a preferred marina in the area?
Willamette much prettier than the Columbia not to mention being in the pdx flight path. Yes sellwood has the nicest everything
EVERYTHING has a tradeoff. Not nearly as many newer, high quality, larger homes on the Willamette. A LOT more expensive being so close to downtown.

Thanks Amy. What a fun way to live!
@@relocatingtoportlandoregonindeed it is. Check out my book, a buyers guide to floating homes. 😊
your video is amazing
LOL! How much did the city have to pay for this?
Ummm. Boats are money pits so I guess this might be too. Still interesting.
Only 5 million
Hi Jason. You're right that the list price starts with a "5" but it's considerably less than $5m! 🙃
A very marked British accent.
I have been living in the US for 18 years, but still have the British accent!
