This is the most precious song I have heard played on a zither, it's like a big German music box to me and the music makes me very happy, good job playing it.

By complete fluke I happen to be in Brimfield antiques market yesterday in Brimfield Massachusetts (USA. 5000 dealers), and saw one of these for sale. I had never seen one before and out of nowhere while searching UA-cam for lottery scratch tickets of all things, I see a zither in the sidebar. I never typed anything in about a Zither. So either the government is watching everything I do and think, OR, this might just be Gods way of saying, you should really learn to play one of those. LOL!. Thank you so much. I LOVED the sound of this and your playing of such a beautiful song.

Listening to these wonderful pieces so well played, it amazes me why all we hear today are guitars and keyboards.......Perhaps its the difference between pop radio and classical music radio and I'm just getting old, or the homogenized society to which we belong where we are told we have so much choice where so little exists, but I know I appreciate a tune like this much more these days than the endless tripe spewed by the mainstream culture. I applaud you sir, for not only showing us that a single person can achieve such a sound on a single instrument, but your obvious feeling for the piece being played. Merci beaucoup.
Thank you for your appreciation. I wished this instrument could gain more popularity. One of the down sides is that the original tuning of a 5 chord zither is inadequate for the 21st century: The original 5 chords are all major and 2 of them are not related to the other 3.
The choice of melody notes is also not suitable. I use a different tuning which allows these pieces to be played. The other limitation is the tuning. Even with the chromatic tuners (and free tuning apps) we have these days, it takes time and patience to tune 62 strings (double melody strings) or 41 strings (single melody strings). I hope that my UA-cam videos will inspire more people to take up the chord zither seriously.

Cimberly engel I am not sure how old this zither is. It is in perfect condition but it may have been made in the 60s or 70s.

Bonjour, je pense m'acheter une cithare, mais il y a beaucoup de choix entre les 6, 5 chords ou bien même les 5/7 chords, pourriez-vous me conseiller ? aussi j'envisage de faire de la scène avec, auriez-vous des conseils d'amplification ?

Hello Dianna, Ma preference est 5 accords, sinon 6 accords. Il faut surtout eviter les accords de 7 cordes. Ils doivent avoir 4 cordes.

beautiful, how do you find stings to work for it?
I use a mixture of steel guitar strings, piano wire and I get the bass of the chords made to size by Lenzner in Germany. Cheers.

You need to look online for a 2nd hand instrument: What you are looking for is a 5 or 6 chord (5 preferably) zither. Chords should have 4 strings each (not 7). Melody notes can be single or double (it makes no difference how you play it). Pay EUR 100 to EUR 200. Please note that I use a different tuning to the original.
