We travelled on BA in April when we went to Florida abd the food was questionable . Not what you expect in Business class. The breakfast was a bacon and chutney roll . Mine had a lump missing and the crew served it to me ! My brand new suitcase was wrecked to. When we got back I complained . BA sent me £200 evoucher and a brand new suitcase. I did love the seating and enjoyed the privacy of the pods. Going virgin next time !
It’s tricky times at the moment, the food seems very hit and miss but the single tray tactic is going down really badly amongst the good card members at the moment and understandably so. Will be great to hear how Virgin goes, their new business class looks fab.
Yeah would agree on both fronts, possibly a challenge sleep wise for those much over 6ft as a result but then, it’s a fairly minor thing on the whole. Super upgrade indeed ✈️
I’m seriously considering doing the same flight and seat class in the form of LHR-DXB and back, so thank you for the information. If I may suggest though, please turn down the music a little; I had difficulty hearing you sometimes.
You’re very welcome. It’s a nice way to fly over to Dubai. If you can, I’d recommend booking premium economy and using Avios for the upgrade, it’s a great way to spend points. I used a track in this video which turned out to be a bit disruptive and had similar feedback from others also sadly. Appreciate the heads up!
Very good review. I like flying BA due to high safety but the service is always a hidden miss. I booked my flight to São Paulo on the new 777. I hope I’m hoping for a good night sleep I stopped having any expectations regarding the service provided.
Thanks so much. That sounds like a good choice, I’ve recently posted a much longer more up to date video on the channel on a flight from Heathrow through to Tokyo which I’d hope might be useful also!
Hi - curious to know which flight time was this? The LHR-DXB business class 777/787 flight always tends to be the ying yang set up opposed to what you’ve flown on. Last time I’ve flown this journey was June ‘22
Very good question. Looking back, this was the morning departure, boarded 08:50 so likely 09:20 ish departure (the BA schedule to Dubai has been changing a bit recently). The 777’s seem to be getting retrofitted fairly fast but the 787’s will likely be a little later from what I’ve heard as they have the most recent ying-Yang typically. To play it safe, just get yourself onto the A350 otherwise, it’s a bit of a lottery just now it seems…
@@Travelsbydreamer thank you so much! I had no idea BA uses the A350 to DXB! Always thought it was A380, 777 and 787. I’ll definitely take your advice with the 777
@@farhanjamal4676 Yeah the A350 featured really quickly for them on the Dubai route, the 380 seems a little seasonal. I'd try and get on the 350 if you can and if not then 777 next best and just hope for a newly refurbed aircraft!
Really good question, as standard I believe they do charge now, up to around $100 for certain business class seats. Both silver and gold tiered executive club members get to choose their seat for free upon booking and bronze from memory around a week before free of charge. Airlines charging for seat selection in business sadly is getting quite common…
Thanks for your reviews! I need to decide whether to go Business Class or Premium Economy on BA. Would you say Business class is worth the 2K more and provides a better night's sleep? This will be a 9-hour flight from Seattle to London.
Tricky one. With the modern premium product, I find myself being able to sleep really well. If that’s £2k or even $2k I don’t think it’s worth it, especially one way. Other thing to consider is that with the business seat you have to wait a while after takeoff to really get comfortable. By the time they’ve taken off the seatbelt signs and made up the bed, you’ve probably lost 40 minutes or so which is extra sleep you could’ve had in premium economy. You’re very welcome for the reviews, glad they were useful! ✈️
@@Travelsbydreamer Thanks again for the quick reply. I'm hoping to sort this out as soon as possible. It would be $1K more and I need to purchase two tickets. It sounds like it might be worth $1K more for the fully reclined seat, or were you able to sleep for more than a couple of hours on that night flight in the premium economy? Thanks again! New subscriber for sure...
@@quinnfitzpatrick7507 thanks very much for the sub! Dropped you a reply over on the other vid on the business class rate etc. Just on the point around the sleep in premium economy, I was historically a dreadful sleeper in economy products as I can’t really sleep at all in a seated position. That said, I find especially with the way the modern premium economy foot support comes up and the recline you get, you do get an almost Z bed type position. I find I can roll onto my side and sleep really well. All aided also by the quality of blanket you get in the BA premium economy product!
@Quinn Fitzpatrick Also think "if I will actually be sleeping as much as I think" the first 2 hrs your sitting up, eating wearing yourself down to get to sleep, then they wake you up to feed & coffee you 2 death😂. So your lying down how much really ?
Im solo travelling to florida from uk and was thinking i could go businesses one way to make the flight alone more enjoyable as its first time alone flying, is it worth it for that?
First time flying business class is always really special, especially if you can get a new onboard product like this. Whether it’s worth it does come down to cost a little and whether you can perhaps upgrade with avios etc…
@@Travelsbydreamer thanks for the reply, so it’s about 2600£ for 3 weeks in florida with hotel and flight, bussiness one way and ecconemy back: i thought thats decent?
@@TheGamersPerspective yeah that sounds pretty epic, would be interesting to see the economy return price also to see how much extra for the business cabin but does sound good…
Thankfully they’re doing the rollout based on aircraft type so does give you a chance at least to roughly know. The A350’s and 787-10’s are all brand new so have the product. BA then prioritised the 777’s for rollout with many of these now done you’ll have a good chance on one. The 787-8 and 787-9 have the older seat, as do the A380’s (these will be overhauled next). The NYC flights are quite high profile so would hope you’d be ok but never really know in the aviation world, especially with last minute equipment changes…
@@Travelsbydreamer Thanks, I did some trial bookings and it seems that Gatwick does NOT have the new 777, just the old one. Coming from Mallorca, LGW is really the only option for us. But no way would I pay good money for the old business, I mean 2-4-2, really?!
@@CyclespeedTours ahhhhh yes sorry, didn’t mention that the LGW fleet haven’t been touched, no idea when they will be, they’re low priority for now. Maybe worth a quick taxi up to LHR for the better cabin if that’s an option for you!
777 little wider so arguably better but the A350 is quieter. Much if a much was though. Toilet situation probably a little better on the 777 though due to the small galley and toilet situation at the front of the A350!
For couples, no seat confit is absolutely ideal with this one as there’s so much privacy built into each seat. I think you’ll have F and K currently as there’s no G on the 777 new seat format as I’d assume (looking at the 350 seat maps with the new design). If you’re going to be in this layout, 2 window seats may not be the worst ideal. Going for the traditional couples isle option doesn’t really work in this format due to the design. Just check the seat map to ensure it’s not the old club world as seat G does feature in that which makes me a little nervous. That layout ironically was always better for couples however
That sounds like it should be a decent west, always nice to get the window, just make sure you avoid the seat I had as the view is a little limited. BA do tend to have onboard Wi-Fi yep and tends to work very nicely often. Have a super flight ✈️
Excellent video thank you. You have a very positive manner. I developed a soft spot for BA because they got rid of masks first, and were less militant than some other airlines during Covid.
Thanks so much! It’s really coincidental reading your comment this morning as late last night I did wonder whether the persistence of the mask policy amongst the likes of Qatar Airways and Emirates might be a really good thing for BA and other carriers who are more relaxed on that front. Will be interesting to see how it plays out!
Better than Emirates that’s for sure. Their brand new business class is in an abysmal 2-3-2 layout. That is the same layout as BA’s Premium Economy/WT+
The EK 777 is indeed a long way behind in terms of the west design, something they’ll likely rectify as part of the $2 billion fleet upgrade programme due soon. A380 especially the newer design does look good!
@@Travelsbydreamer hmm I prefer the classy and elegant look of the darker greys of BA over the noisy mahogany and flashy gold of EK but that’s my opinion 😅
Excellent review. I’m not absolutely convinced by the new suites, I was a big fan of the old product. The storage in the old club world was never a big problem especially upstairs in the 747 or a380 with the big window bins. Many bang on about the privacy being improved which is all very well if you’re travelling alone but if your travelling as a couple or family they are down right anti social & absolutely no good for keeping an eye of younger kids. In this respect the old product blows the suite’s out the water. I do take on board that climbing over peoples legs to get to the aisle wasn’t ideal, the IFE was needing an update & there was a lack of charging points etc in the old product though. My family & I are booked on the 777 in club world from London to LA next summer, so I’ll find out then if my concerns are justified.
Thanks so much! Some really interesting points you make. I recently toured the Negus 747 at Kemble and made similar points about the storage on the upper deck actually making it a decent product. The suites are a step back for those travelling in groups but their biggest issue currently is for sure the soft product. Will be good to hear how you get on during the trip to LA ✈️
