The statement of Jonas' departure was 1 week after this release. Sad to see him leave, but we still got the music to remember
Just to be clear, he is not leaving the band. He will just stop touring and doing live shows. He will still be writing and recording with the band in the studio.
Tom confirmed that Jonas will write with the band, but will not record in the studio, stating that they think it would only be fair for Simen to be able to record with them if he's going to commit to touring and be a full time member of the band. As sad as it makes me, I'm happy for Jonas and happy that he will still be involved in songwriting for Evergrey
52 year old metalhead here. Only just discovered Evergrey and am very impressed and moved by their music. I love the guitar tone and this track rips some fantastic solos, the groovy bass lines, held back but perfect drumming and the voice man is immense. I say that from a traditional heavy metal vocalist fan (Dickinson/Tate/Dio/Halford/Kiske). Whilst not in that vein his voice has so much emotion and soul. Indeed it reminds me of John Payne who sang on some of Asia's albums in the 90s. Great band.
I have much respect for the band for giving Jonas the opportunity to thank the fans. Hated to hear he's leaving, but he's got to do what's right for him. He is a killer drummer and i will miss his playing in the band.
I remember when Jonas first joined the band (not when he and Henrik came back, but when he FIRST joined). I believe he started out as the drum tech for their original drummer?

The year is 2003. I'd been a fan of Evergrey since their very first album in 1998 and I'd gotten to know the guys. I visited them in Göteborg when they released their In Search of Truth album in 2001 and had a release concert in their hometown at a venue called Sticky Fingers. Their drummer then was Patrick Carlsson. Then comes 2003 and a kid had joined the band as the new drummer. Jonas had just joined the band when I booked the band in Iceland in the fall. They did 2 shows, we did sightseeing etc. the works. Made friends for life. It's a bit remarkable that Jonas didn't really seem to age... I mean, the guy looks like he's 25 or something, haha.
The end moment in this video when he's leaving the venue, saying goodbye. It fucking hit me.
Anyway, I get a bit of a Deep Purple Vibe from this song, that I haven't gotten heard before from them...
Jonas departure was all class and all credit to Evergrey in allowing Jonas to do it his way. Sounds like Jonas may still be involved with Evergrey behind the scenes with writing and production as he been heavily involved in production on previous albums. Maybe they might have the drum tech move into the drum seat. Those familiar with Evergrey's history will know that Jonas was originally Patrick Carlsson's drum tech before moving into the role of drummer when he left
Guitar tone sounds different in this one. Reminds me of CKYs fuzzy guitar tone.
I dont know but imo "The Atlantic" was something else. Albums after that are not on the same level.

The issue I have with this channel and the reactions is that you guys almost always only talk about the video. Please focus more on the music please!!!
That is not accurate and you can go watch yesterday’s video to see this is not true. Every video we do has its own story if you will.
You obviously don't actually watch the videos all the way through. They ALWAYS talk about the song. Such a clueless thing to say.
