After Toronto, Montreal/Pointe Claire, Ottawa, I decided to settle in Cambridge 30 years ago. I like it here. It is a reasonably well run city although the administration is not fiscally astute. The parks and scenery are probably second to none and my chosen area, Preston, has some remarkably nice residential areas. One of them is Fountain Street South which attracts through traffic because of its variety of dwellings and gardening. The only thing I detest is the regional traffic management which is not the fault of the city. Hwy 8 in Kitchener, just before Cambridge, is a case in point. Traffic is severely impacted in both directions because of some minor work on the sidewalk area. To say nothing of the brainiac who ordered the concrete covering of the new wide median between each direction of lanes. Mature trees ought to have been transplanted into this median. Great cities have great trees and green space. Only the intellectually bereft cover everything in concrete. Then there is the lengthy closing of on and off ramps of Hwy 401 from Hwy 8. Again a very real brain dead decision with severe lack of planning. This is probably the provincial government's doings. But then all level of governments have pencil necked paper pushers impose their 2-bit opinions on the unsuspecting public with seriously detrimental effects. The public be damned.

@@Mikecarpinorealestate Indeed. Among my favourite restaurants is the Cambridge Mill; my wife and I had our reception there. Pricey but we go once a year to celebrate and they treat us really well. Then there is the Sunset Grill on Hespeler Road. Again the food is really good and we go there often for Brunch as they close in mid afternoon. We also like The Keg and several others whose name I can't remember.
I have yet to try the cambridge mill i have heard fantastic things about it. I guess im going to be treating the wife and myself to a nice meal there this summer. Thanks for your comments again See you around town!
Canadian real estate is definitely over inflated but if you compare Cambridge to many other cities it’s considered more affordable. You could also secure a condo here for 450 and you can’t say that about other places. Unfortunately prices have become difficult for first time buyers without a doubt

Only 700,000,00 maybe real-estate been good to you but for most Canadians it's beyond reach so take it elsewhere
