I can’t believe the sakura blossoms at sahogawa river isn’t more known!
5 whole km of tightly packed sakura trees along a clear river, and most importantly, no crowds. Only locals seemed to stroll leisurely along the paths lined with white and pink blossoms, the occasional child’s laughter ringing through the peace.
We had a picnic sitting under the sakura petal blossoms and it was one of the most magical moments of my life.
Getting here is not easy though. We rented a bike (for free under the kansai wide area pass!), braved traffic and weaved through narrow lanes. Turns out I cannot multitask reading navigation while on a bike - but you can just tell the pay off is worth it.

What a lovely video. I was wondering if I should put Nara on the list for the upcoming sakura viewing trip. After watching your video, I was sold. Nara it is. Could you please describe how you walk the rented bike along the riverbank sakura path? I would love to rent a bike, too. I'm just not so sure how to deal with the bike while strolling the riverbank path. Thanks.
It’s a very quiet neighbourhood area, so I parked my bikes at the entrance under some trees. The shot of walking with the bike on the path was just staged for photos haha.
