The DreamSMP is a server created by the Dream Team on Minecraft. People usually just play regular survival Minecraft but I decided I wanted to create a geo-political war. Uh-oh.

Golzaye ok so basically a couple of weeks ago tommy killed dream and then dream stole tommys discs that he worked really hard to get, so tommy declared war on dream and he ended up getting the discs back and winning the war. then this whole thing happened and tommy gave up the discs to dream for freedom.

The L'manburg saga was what first introduced me to the Dream smp and to Wilbur. I just randomly decided to watch this Minecraft Hamilton Role play everyone was talking about. Who knew it would later become one of my main sources for inspiration in music and art and introduce me to an amazing (for the most part) community and start like 12 friendships. Rewatching it now is strangely nostalgic, not only because this was the glory days of lore before Wilbur went insane and his character was still a somewhat good person, but also because it is personally what inspired countless art projects, cosplays, fanfics, and music compositions that have helped me through quarantine. Who would've guessed that a Minecraft Hamilton Role play would have such a huge impact on my life. The chances that Wilbur will see this comment are very low but if he does happen to read it, thank you so fucking much. Not only from me, but from the hundreds of people you have inspired and saved.

Okay but like, can we talk about the fact that Tommy is a nice, passionate and somewhat serious though incredibly comedic person in this? I like to think that the Tommy we see in the DSMP now is a fragment of this due to his trauma and the break down of his personality over the years of war and solitude. I hate to say this since I'm a Tommyinnit apologist but I honestly miss this version of him, in and out of roleplay. I love him now, but I feel like through this time, he's created a clear barrier between Tom Simons and Tommyinnit, acting exactly like his usual self (though a bit more showy) and acting outrageously and jokingly, respectively. In this video, you see a mix of both, because at this point he didn't separate the two so badly. The separation was "Tom Simons", as in Tom, and just that, in his daily life. And the other was TommmyInnit, which was his online persona but a little more him than now.
Of course, the better tone to his character can't only be attributed to how he acted. While scripting your roleplay is lovely, you can see a noticeable difference between this war and all the others. This one was random, just game play with groups formed. Everything is unexpected, everything is in-the-moment, and our beloved streamers' articulation really shows at how they can instantly come up with bone-chilling lines and funny quips. There was so much surprise here when Dream's TNT blew up all of L'manberg. Now compare that to when Wilbur blew up L'manberg. It was all expected, and so was Philza's entrance.
What set Tommy's character here apart from the current Tommy was when he negotiated with Dream *twice.* Without a script to tie him down, he was intent on winning L'manberg's independence, so he did anything it would take. And that's why I personally enjoy this Tommy more than our current one. His real personality shines through in this, meanwhile, now, he's cut himself out of his roleplays and effectively made the DSMP a story.
I do it all the time too, and it honestly hurts but I can't control myself from making a loose script.
You'll notice that bone-chilling lines are more scarce in SADist's animations than in the one made for this war. Because of the scripting. The shock of the moment is taken away, effectively stripping the roleplayers of their ability to say genuine, shocking lines without rehearsing beforehand, and if they did rehearse their lines beforehand, then they would come off stale. The only exception to this is Technoblade, because he's the best.👌 English majors be like that ig.
