Happy New Year Jonathan! I’ve had a copy of “In Spite of Ourselves” for many years but on compact disc. I saw Isbell in Boston last August. Very good concert! Nice John Lee Hooker LP. ✌️
Hey Jonathan. I hope you've had a nice non-denominational festive period, and continue to have a good new year. I like Goose Creek Symphony. Solid rural country rock with much banjo and mouth harp. They're a little tongue in cheek, and that knowing inauthenticity probably stopped them making it big. You've got their second album there from 1971. Can't go wrong with those Tom Waits reissues. Hed
I didn't know "in spite of ouselves" had been reissued. I've been looking for a vinyl copy for ages (it's an absolute favourite CD of mine) so I'll be all over it once I've finished watching your video. Thanks for the tip and I hope you have a truly wonderful New Year
Happy New Year Johnathon! I’m glad you held out for a better deal. I bet it was cool to visit England. Nice Tom Waits scores. Missed Dylan going electric. Damn.
Nice that you have Bone Machine, I have it on CD but not the vinyl. I love that Uncle Tupelo album, Acuff Rose is an incredible tune. In Spite of Ourselves, fantastic! Awesome Dylan electric story, wow what a shame you missed it.
Hi Jonathan. Excellent choices with your 'free money.' (BTW: it's a big jump from $30 to $162. You gotta know what your albums are worth before taking them into a shop, that's for sure! Awesome John Lee Hooker LP. Also, the Memphis Slim and Willie Dixon is a great find. One of my local records stores has an OG of that, but they want $100 for it. I grabbed the re-issue for $30 instead. Thanks for sharing your Folk Festival story. Have a happy New Year! Cheers!
The thumbnail is what got me. I bought "Bone Machine" on cd when it came out and I have only early Tom Waits on vinyl. What a bummer that you missed Dylan going electric.
That's complete bullshit that they only offer you ten percent of the value of the albums at the first store. I hate it when stuff like that happens people should just be honest.

Same to you and yours. I have been looking for that John Prine on vinyl forever. Here’s to more buying and spinning records in 2024

You got to know what things are really worth so you don’t get taken.
