Wow! Huge score with that Betty Davis! Not familiar with Grizzly Bear. I do like Fleet Foxes. I can’t believe thise first records you showed were at Goodwill being so recent. John Hammond! I have a couple of his LPs from a recommendation you gave a couple of years ago. I have that Waylon Hits record. Perfect collection of tunes! ✌️
Wow! You got a great deal on that Betty Davis album. I'm surprised you found it at Goodwill. I never see any new titles at thrift shops. "General public" titles are tricky, but give it a couple more listens. There are so many great titles.Cheers
Nice video and nice vinyl finds. What caused you to move from NY to Maine? I love Maine and lobster.
@@kylenovak97 My wife got a job at LL Bean helping design clothes, 32 years ago. Best decision we ever made.
She must've had a great resume! @@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071
Some good stuff there, Jonathan. I remember quite liking Grizzly Bear, but clearly not enough to buy any of their records. I always thought the Fleet Foxes were overrated. I mean they're pleasant enough, just not as good as other, less successful, artists who were producing a similar sound The good thing about the over of Will The Circle Be Unbroken is it looks better the more tatty and threadbare it becomes. It starts to look like a remnant from the Civil War period. Hed
Damn!! That General Image looks amazing!! I love that haircut that guy has!! Hahaha ☘️
@@ShamrocknRecords - It was “right place, right time” kind of day
So many great albums there. That Betty Davis album is a great find. It's on my wants list. I already have that John Mayall album behind you though, and that Brubeck 2LP. Fleet Foxes are tremendous. Definitely worth persevering with. 'Still Crazy' is fantastic.
Right place, right time ! Thanks for watching
Jonathan, 😮😮😮😁😁. If only records could talk. Those Pablo albums are always great to pick up. You hit that thrift store on the right day. Cheers.
@@vinylmartini3377 - They can’t talk, but they sure can sing. Thanks for watching
Sweet Trane ! .. And a good deal on it. 👍 Curtan Call, Im sure it's a cooker, the great Hank Mobley. Im pleased you found a couple of quality titles Jon, and thanks for showing them and shouting me out !
Congratulations Jonathan!
Great deals Jonathan! Congrats on the contest.
Jorgensen played in the Desert Rose Band with Chris Hillman, also toured with Mike Nesmith. Great finds!
@@samstjohn1994 - I have that Desert Rose band LP. This is definitely more his own thing. A great player
I have one of the Desert Roses, I need a few more!
Magic Dingus Box. New band name.
Only familiar with John Jorgenson as a sideman. Foster and Lloyd really good pop-country. Nice thrift stores up there. Thanks, Chris
@@christopherkibler511 - This is very much in the Django Reinhardt vein. Great stuff and thanks for watching
That early Bela Fleck album was a good find, too.
You found some good music. Enjoyed the video. My Goodwills have not so many albums as they once have. I think they are putting them online or passing them to other goodwills
@@twofromthetrunk9932 - I talked to the manager of this Goodwill. He said he’s so short staffed he has no time to go through the records and see what’s valuable and what’s not. He just slaps a $2 price sticker on them and puts them out. Works for me.
@@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071 that’s awesome. Id go back often.
Do the vinyl from goodwill online come in good condition?
@@brentbr - It definitely varies. If it’s not good I leave it there. These need a good deep cleaning, but I think they should be fine.
Some sweet finds. Pretty upscale Goodwills your way.
@@aspringwind - It varies, but recently finding some winners. And for less than $2 hard to leave them behind. Thanks for watching
Foster and Lloyd are fantastic. They were a group that were way beyond their time. I was lucky enough to see them live.
That early Bela looks awesome. I’ll have to look for that! Cheers☘️
Great stuff bud
From Bob In Denver, I'm Back, great stuff. The Fagan makes me drool. What a cool pick up. bh
Interesting collection each Sinatra fan has their own personal favourites. Two of my favourite albums not included, "The September of My Years" and "Where are You" both would be in my top ten .Another gem ""A Man Alone"
@@peterholwill1170 - Each to their own. “A Man Alone” & “Watertown” are my least two favorites of his. Really dislike Rod McKuen’s sappy lyrics and no matter how hard Frank tries he can save this album. I still say his Capitol years was the best ! But hey if you enjoy it, that’s great
@@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071 Thanks for your comments I enjoy 'A Man Alone' it resonates with me.I agree with you his best albums were his Capitol years. My top 5 'Wee small hours' 'No one Cares' 'Only the Lonely" 'Songs for ' Swingin Lovers + Swingin Affair.' First Count Basie album excellent, also Jobim album and 'Where are You ? ' also a favourite. His rendition of 'Lonely Town' superb.Leonard Bernstein who composed the song felt no other singer got close to Sinatra's rendition.Agree re Watertown.Happy Listening.
Unbelievable pickups Jonathan. I started attending the Philadelphia Folk Festival regularly in 1972. I had the great privilege of seeing almost all of these artists in performance there over the years. Yes, the hot labels were definitely Flying Fish and Rounder. In 1972 I saw David Bromberg headline a show and in 1973, Steve Goodman. In 1974 I saw a workshop where Prime and Goodman traded songs at a workshop where they got drunk out of their minds. Ah, the good old days.
@@davidrosner3799 - I went to the Newport Folk Festival a couple of times but never made it to the Philadelphia one. An old friend from college sang backup for Bromberg back in the day. Great memories. Thanks for watching
Jonathan, that Country Gazette album is a really good find. I have the US version of that album called Out To Lunch released the following year. Thanks, Chris
@@christopherkibler511 - I picked up a 1986 album by them “Bluegrass Tonight” about 2 weeks ago. Good stuff. Thanks for watching
Nice video, quite the haul. The Danny Gatton record is a great find. He's from my neck of the woods(DMV). I think you'll be impressed, he's one of those "greatest guitarist that nobody's ever heard of" kind of guitarists. Plays all genres with a dazzling technique. Unfortunately, his story is a sad one, ending with suicide back in '94, but man, the guy could play.
@@DavidStimson-p3t - Just finished listening to it and I’m a convert. A little late to discover him, but man could he play. Sad ending. Thanks for watching
@@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071 No problem. Strange coincidence that another great guitarist from this area, Roy Buchanan, would suffer the same fate.
@@DavidStimson-p3t - I thought Danny shot himself and Roy died mysteriously in prison. Both gone too soon.
@@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071 I meant similar in that they both committed suicide. You're right about Danny Gatton. Buchanan, on the other hand, was arrested for drunk and disorderly back in '88 and taken to the Fairfax County jail, where he eventually hung himself. Never got the chance to see Danny Gatton, but did see Buchanan a couple of times back in the early to mid 70s when he was at the height of his popularity.
I din’t have any Newgrass albums but have seen several bands play live on PBS. That is a good batch of records.
@@vinylrichie007 - A good day today.
Christmas came early at the Goodwill!

Redneck Jazz 🤔 Yeah I'd have picked that one up too
Wow what a score! Every one of those records are gems. Congratulations!

Those Kentucky cornels I never see thought looks like stuff I would love to check
Those Kentucky cornels I never see thoughs

Where can we find your Discogs-adress!?
@@mrcapac I don’t sell on Discogs.
Great entry and nice to still have the banana on the cover. I love that Chuck Berry cover and still need to get that album. You had some great picks with some vibrant covers.
@@RandyforRoyals - It was a fun exercise. Glad you liked it and thanks for watching
What a deal you've managed! Once again I'm envious. I've been diving into South African/Cape Jazz recently so the Dollar Brand album got my attention. You probably know that jazz was protest music in South Africa, especially in the 70s, an important expression of resistance against Apartheid. At a Goodwill a couple years ago, I was lucky to pick up the Dollar Brand album Mannenberg, which is called Cape Town Fringe on the US release. It has one long track on each side, with a form that's very repetitive but let's each soloist really stretch out their melodic ideas. It's one of my all time favorite Goodwill record finds. The African Space Program album is a very different style, more wild free jazz, but the emphasis is clearly on the "freedom" for these repressed artists in Apartheid South Africa. You probably also know that Dollar Brand also went by Abdullah Ibrahim, and is one of our jazz giants still alive today (age 90). And that's just one of the gems you found there. Congratulations again! I wish I wasn't too far away to pop into the record show and say hi.
@@whateverthing71 - It was definitely a good score. Only became aware of Dollar Brand a couple of years ago. I’m not much into “free jazz” but this is a keeper. Thanks for watching
@@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071 - Do give a listen to his "Mannenberg" if you can. I think you'd enjoy it more than "Space Program."
@@whateverthing71 - I’ll look into it. I have African Marketplace & African Piano in my collection.
@@cheapcheerfulrecordcollect8071 - Great albums! (The parts I've heard of them online.)
Hi Jonathan! That Chuck Berry album is one I’ve never seen until you showed it. I just entered JT’s contest as well. ✌️
@@MGKBOSTON - Unfortunately that Chuck Berry is pretty beat. Good luck in the contest.
Cool story of that Barenberg record coming full circle back to you Jonathan. I like the look of that Great Guitars album. Quite a find with that Dylan. ✌️
@@MGKBOSTON - What goes around comes around. I was excited about that Dylan
that is an amazing haul, especially the Bob Dylan album. Fantastic. That alone made the trip worthwhile.
@@twofromthetrunk9932 - I was really surprised to find that one

Thanks for the kind words and the shoutout Jonathan. Great entry and good luck in the contest. Love the jello mold on that LF album. Cheers.
@@vinylmartini3377 - Not a problem, hope you get some more subs.
I saw Little Feat and had never heard of them! They were on a bill with an unknown at the time Doobie Bros, Ry Cooder and Captain Beefheart (who I had gone to see). Good luck on the contest. My banana is 90% peeled.

I've been watching these and not commenting. Every video has had great finds! I would have to drive all day to maybe get to a Goodwill with anything even playable. The 2 that I ever go to are good for jeans but records are trashed. Those stores are 3 and 4 hours away.
