    To be honest is the one of the useful videos in UA-cam about broadcasting degree. Thank you so much! Does this university department offer any scholarships?

    Thank you so much for this video omg it was sooo helpful! I’m very interested in studying broadcast journalism at UCF, and I was wondering when you can apply into the journalism major? Also, I was wondering can you only be a senior to participate in Knightly News or can you participate the day you step foot on campus? Thank you so much for taking the time for reading this message!💗

      You can definitely help out with Knightly News beforehand on the production end, but they won't let you be in front of the camera until you're in your Senior capstone. BUT they do have other shows you can participate in beforehand. For example, during my first semester at UCF I joined a sports show called Hitting The Field. You have to have a certain amount of credits to apply to the journalism major, but I'm honestly not sure how many exactly. I would definitely contact the Nicholsoon School of Journalism's advisors and ask them.

      Breanna Sorensen What are the other shows that you can participate on camera as a freshmen?

      @@NyahEvans I know they used to have an entertainment type show, a sports show, a late-night type comedy show like Jimmy Fallon, and I'm sure there's more.

    Hi! I'm going to UCF this fall as a Journalism major! I'm in the TV program at my school and am a director for a Skills USA High School Broadcast News Production Team. I noticed that they have Electronic Journalism or Print/Digital Journalism. Which one would I need to pursue in order to become a news director or producer? Also, do you have any recommendations for a minor to pursue on the side or a second major? Thank you so much I loved watching this video! Go Knights, Charge On!

    • @breannasorensen
      @breannasorensen  3 роки тому

      I would definitely contact the Nicholson School because they may end up saying RTV, but definitely electronic over print/digital. Electronic is for a tv news room and digital is all newspaper. Definitely minor in something you're passionate about. A lot of people do political science if they're interested in politics, sports business if you're interested in sports, etc. This usually helps if you end up covering something in that field. Charge on!!

    Hi! I absolutely loved this video! I am possibly interested in majoring in broadcast journalism in college. I am only in high school but it’s never to early to plan lol! Do you have any recommendations on what high school students should be doing if they want to major in broadcast journalism to help them get into harder programs? Just curious! Thanks!

      So glad you loved it! Thanks so much! Definitely get involved in a tv production program if you have one at your high school! That helped me so much. Also - if you have a local news station nearby - email the news director and ask if you can shadow a reporter for the day!

      Breanna Sorensen I was also wondering what I could do as a rising high school senior to get into these top programs such as UCF which is my #2 choice currently. I’ve only just decided I wanted to pursue broadcast journalism specifically in sports, so the only thing I’ve done in the past was field interviews for this project I had with a local college and I have my own podcast on the NBA but since there was no NBA until recently content has been sparse. Any thoughts on if I have made good progress so far?

    • @breannasorensen
      @breannasorensen  4 роки тому +1

      @@dhanijoseph6849 I think you're definitely up to a great start! Just continue with any creativity like a podcast, UA-cam channel, etc. for as much as possible! Also get involved with a tv production program if they have it at your high school. Also, make sure to keep your GPA in good standings so that the program will let you in! Also, the more extra-curricular activities/clubs that you can list on your resume, the better!

      Breanna Sorensen Thank you so much, I really appreciate the advice so much and I will cherish it and put it into action. I hope you have nothing but success in your young, yet impressive career, and hopefully our paths will be able to cross again. Your hard work has really inspired me.
