always felt bad for magnus... absolutely one of the most tragic primarchs. his sacrifices for his legion speak to a true love for his children. his attempt to warn the emperor, while misguided, were from a place of true love and loyalty. his willingness to allow the space wolves to burn his homeworld to the ground... he truly was one of the emperors most loyal sons. he didn't deserve to fall as far as he did
I'm new and I'm learning about all the Primarchs. Hearing Magnus' backstory has easily shot him to my favourite Primarch thus far. I 100% agree, he turned to chaos due to love and loyalty. To his people, his sons, to knowledge, and to his father, the Emperor. He also seems actually secular, studying Warp like a science, instead of the fanatic religion the Emperor called 'Secularity.'

you disappointed me when you did mentioned the quote that Magnus made, at the battle of The Fang. 'Do you remember what you said to me, brother? Do you remember what you said to me as we fought before the Pyramid of Photep? Do you remember the words you used? I do. As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. @@italianspartacus by far my favorite books of the horus heresy. I even got an uninitiated person in 40k to read thousand sons with only a 3 minute crash course to general 40k lore and they absolutely loved it. My buddy who I got to read the book was like, "you mean they are giant 8 foot tall demi-gods who are also for the most part masters in every badass psychic power you could imagine?!?!?!?!now you're telling me they really aren't that powerful in the big picture of things?!?!?!?"
magnus is probably the most tragic of all the primarchs, didnt join chaos of his own volition, but was forced into a desperate situation to save what he could consider his home and family, prospero coulda been seen as a world that humanity would have sought out as the goal for a truly enlightened step up from the barbaric origins, knowledge is power indeed, but power not used correctly can overwhelm its wielder, i sincerely hope that there is room for his redemption, even if he is a poor gullible wise dope, but i guess its just a matter of getting his soul back, which may mean the emperor would have to ascend possibly for that to happen...if that would happen
Things you had missed: Magnus never actually ascended to daemonhood like other Chaos Primarchs. His souls started fracturing when he took Tzeetnches power to break through the Emp's web-way seals and continued fracturing until Russ broke his spine. When Magnus took the deal with Tzeentch to save his legion, his body was destroyed and shards of his soul spread all over the Warp. The biggest, evilest and the most psychically powerful shard went with his legion to Sortarius and quickly started hunting and absorbing other shards in a quest to regain it's wholesomeness - this shard is later come to be known as a Crimson King. Other shards representing different aspects of Magnus's personality tethered themselves to places and people important to him - the one we see in "Scars" was left on Prospero, but was later rabsorbed into CK when Jagahatai banished him, one hid inside Ahriman's soul, one went to Terra and so on. Malkador later detected terran shard of Magnus (which represented his compassion and purity) and merged it with a loyalist TS Revuel Arvida into a gestalt consiousness who called itself Janus and become one of the foundong members of the Grey Knights. In M32 Ahriman led and invasion on Soritarius meant to overthrow insane incomplete Crimson King and undo the Rubrik, but he failed, although in the process CK sucked the shard of Magnus out of Ahriman's soul and become much less incomplete, much saner and considerably less evil. At this point when CK was close enough to original to call itself Magnus he made his first attack on Fenris and went back to hunting small wayward shards of his soul. At M42 Janus reamains the only shard Magnus haven't yet reabsorbed, as it's kept safe on Titan (and is probably the source of GK total incorruptibility). Gods only know what would happen to GK, TS and Magnus himself when and if he finally reabsorbs Janus and restors his "goodness". My money is Magny would make a face-heel turn and return to the mMperium, while the entirety of GK chapter suddenly collapses to corruption as their wards and seals break without the source that powered them and basically takes TS spot of Tzeentch's chosen.
Mezmerro I thought the Father shard (Ahrimans shard) and janus shard were destroyed. The first because CK didnt want to be influenced by it and only absorbed its power. And the secind was lost forever with the death of Janus.... As far as I remember.
Well, you're right about Ahriman's shard in a way - CK absorbed it but blocked it's effects on his psyche. As for Janus, he may have a tombstone on Titan, but there's no confirmation that he actually died at some point. Even if he did, shards of primarch's souls don't just fade - it may still be tethered to his corpse or something.
when you look at that as a whole, it seems blatantly clear that magnus was easily the most powerful imperial being behind big e with all these ostensibly incredibly formidable parts of a whole and with what we know about the deadly potential behind emps' psychic blasts, who seems to be the only true rival to the red's in the entire imperium - surely no other primarch could hope to lay a hand on him in a true balls-out encounter
I'll be honest, I always assumed some of the story in 40K would be bit... wacky. but Magnus' story is like something straight out of a Shakespearean tragedy. really enjoyed this one!

Thank you! I know this is an old video but I have recently starting to really dive into the lore and one thing I hear often is "Magus did nothing wrong!" Then an argument ensues. So thank you for explaining what he did (or didnt) do wrong.
I just found your channel the other day and I've been binging on the 40k content. I love it, man. You should do one on Roboute Guilliman since he's the only confirmed living primarch.
Pysker+ Physic mutant good parallel on your part. You can also hear your passion for this Primarch, a favorite of yours? After serving in the Navy I find that a ship is a living being, the crew being the blood and it takes on a life of the collective. So the Chapter vessels representing their chapter differences makes sense. Magnus was another like Conrad created there own destiny by trying to prevent it. He did get the bad end of the deal, I thought Fulgrim was the first Deamon Primarch though. Side note I want a video on Lord Cypher(I have a weird theory one him)
If I remember correctly, only one Legion (the 11th) had been sanctioned at the time of the Council of Nikea. There is a passage from Magnus's perspective at Nikea where he mentions that the Primarch of the 2nd Legion is present.
YA YA YA I love the tragedy of Magnus and what he became. I do also love the 40k Models as well as the 30k Models, they are such great sculps. Im kinda stoked for your take on Leman Russ. I bet hes wolfing things down. And stay the top dog that you are Ryan. Keep it up as always
Russ tried to spare Magus and pleaded with him to surrender and come to Terra despite tge orders to kill them but magnus did not reply sealing their fate. Russ even morned for magnus. Why morne someone you hate when your victorious? He distrusted psychers but doesn't hate them. Also a massive difference between psychers and sorcerers. The difference between them is magics were banned not psychic powers
My favorite primarch and legion with the best looking armor in the entire imperium and the most tragic legion now ghost seeking vengeance and retribution
That was awesome man thanks for the effort you put in, I played Iron Warriors for a while so looking forward to Puertebo (Spelling?) Unfortunately he was just a petulant little shit from what I remember but my knowledge stops around 5th or 6th

Great videos so far dude! I'm looking forward to the video on Angron. Have you thought of making a series on the right hand men of the Primarchs? Ahriman's decent into madness is super interesting to read.
i have and i haven't.. like i really enjoy them, but maybe it's better as one big, super videos. "First Captains of the Legions" and touch on every one of them. Some are pretty scant while others are these massive epochs haha. any suggestions!?
Depending on pre- or post-Heresy, if it's pre-Heresy maybe focus on the Organization along with notable members to fill in that gap of missing information. So for those chapters that have a huge amount of fluff it can be covered, but then you can still talk about the not so known legions (*ahem* Alpha Legion *ahem*). If you do post-Heresy, I'd focus on the aligned Champions separately. Then do a vid on the big boys of the undivided traitor legions. Luckily the pre-Heresy stuff for Loyalists is easy to find if you decide to do some videos of them as well. Regardless, I look forward to your future content!
I realy fill bad for magnus. and why didnt the Emperor try to help magnus with his situation with russ and mortarian afterall he also uses phycic powers too

I just made my way through "Perturabo" (Primarch series). What an emotional rollercoaster and what an ending. I think I might actually look more forward to his video than I do Sanguinius' (SUCH HERESY!)
It wasn't at all "Bolterporn", but it had some awesome and unusual action. Interesting new stuff about the 40k universe in general (Hrud seem terrifying now). And so much insight into the Iron Warriors and Perturabo. He seems a much more whole character after reading Perturabo than he did after I had read Angel Exterminatus. But. it is perhaps mostly a "feels" book. I still can't decide if i despise Perturabo or pity him. I think that might have been the point. I'd absolutely recommend it, especially if you want to really get a dig into his (and his legion's) personality and formative moments.
Loved it. But one tiny gripe Italianspartacus. In the book a thousand sons. When he break through the web way and comes in to throne room of the Emporer. He his not angry. He is really disappointed in him. Thats when Magnus realises that he messed up. Been sometime since i read it. But thats what i remember.
In the 1st image, Is that drop pod equivalent for the rubics? *drops lasgun* If the webway project is successful, does it mean Imperium at large denies any chaos materialism? (except the ones close to eye of terror)
It's a silver tower of Tzeentch, each Exalted Sorcerer has their personal one and in the Siege of the Fenris system they drive hundreds of them into it's surface to unload traitor hordes, Daemons and Tzaangors, they also bombard Fenris with them. And kind of, it limits it but the birth of Slaanesh tells us that even the webway does not starve chaos completely, it however unites humanity and skips the risks of warp based travel.
not necessarily.. the way that the webway project was supposed to go was that man would get access to the webway and the imperium would never deal with dabbling with the immaterium, this would significantly reduce the Ruinous Powers' strength until the Emperor could deal with them
I think Fulgrim was the first Daemon Primarch, cause he betrayed Perturabo in that whole Angel Exterminatus thing. Him or Angron during the Shadow Crusade
well i was of that mindset too .. i mean you read when he kills Ferrus Manus- that's NOT HIM, but i guess i'm calling Daemon Primarch someone who has fully ascended to Daemon Prince, which Fulgrim most assuredly had not!.... YET!
Nate Cummings I thought it happened when Magnus bargained to have Tzeentch save his life (he was gravely injured and rendered immobile by Russ), his sons and Prospero. Tzeentch’s price was that Magnus became a daemon because at that point the chaos god has complete control of the primarch. Once Mag accepted he and Tizca and the remaining TSons were on a planet in the Eye of Terror and Magnus was fully healed as a daemon prince.
Prospero is not a death world but it does have an infestation of minor warp creatures that feed on psychic energy that couldn't be seen with a naked eye but they could be sensed by powerful psykers. Magnus had managed block them off from the materium. And of course they returned after Prospero was burned. Though minor warp creatures they could be lethal.
The daemon of Chaos undivided names Samus took control of Loken’s comrade Jubal got possessed by the daemon making him go insane and kill 6 Astartes, and after Loken killed him, I think he rose again, killing some of the remembrancer and almost killing one of the more notable, being Euphrati Keeler. 54 books halfway through the first book; got a long way to go, but it looks like I’m in for a real treat. Glad I got to a spot tat wasn’t spoiled.
My question is when did the Thousand Son's go from red armor to the blue armor. Like was it when Magnus and the rest of his Legion got teleported to the World of Sorcerers or before then?
Sparty, important question that needs an important and proper answer before I start blowing up houses at random in your neighbourhood.. Ahem - One of my many foolish brothers claim that the Black Templars don't use psykers at all? That they claim them all to be witches? D: I mean I know that they hate them and all, but surely they'd put their powers to use like the other chapters?
nope the templars are more insane emperor worshipping than the inquisition and sisters of battle combined they still follow the decree of nicea and because they are sons of dorn they have a stick up their arse so large it touches their brain so they are not going to break that decree for anything short of their father or the emperor himself.
unfortunately, in recent lore, the black templars NO LONGER use psykers.. they went from being just an overly zealous chapter of the Imperial Fists that was trying to atone for the self-imposed failures of the Legion by going on a non-stop crusade.... to an extension of.... the office of the imerium i can't think of... that believes, just as you said, that psykers are witches to be burned :/

Magnus is probably my favourite primarch and his tragic fall into chaos...
Side note I want a video on Lord Cypher(I have a weird theory one him)
That E40 quote LOL im dead. Nice vid bro, still hyped for the rest to come!
+Dbison Hahahaha.. More to come indeeeeeed with more bad jokes
If I remember correctly, only one Legion (the 11th) had been sanctioned at the time of the Council of Nikea. There is a passage from Magnus's perspective at Nikea where he mentions that the Primarch of the 2nd Legion is present.
Great video, thanks for that
Absolutely! Thanks for watching
Enjoying your breakdown on Magnus and the Sons. good job.
Nice vid Spartacus, and have a great new year! Looking forward to the rest of this series (FOR SANGUINIUS AND THE EMPEROR!)
HAPPY NEW YEAR, LEH! and thank you very much :)
Magnus: Father, I have returned..
Emperor: with chicken wings!
LOOOOOOL!
YA YA YA I love the tragedy of Magnus and what he became. I do also love the 40k Models as well as the 30k Models, they are such great sculps. Im kinda stoked for your take on Leman Russ. I bet hes wolfing things down. And stay the top dog that you are Ryan. Keep it up as always
thanks phoenix! :D you know i'll do the wolf lord proud as he's my OG first primarch
Your E40 quote was golden, and that's why I love you Sparty
hahaha my gift to you my dude
With all the scheme he has for him and everything, seems like Tzeench really took a liking to Magnus
Yes he did
These are great. Thanks for doing these!
Perturabo gets REALLY weird in his lore, but i''ll definitely bake something up nice for ya :)
Thanks so much for watching, Sam!
ItalianSpartacus no worries man, thanks for making awesome content hope it can become your only job some day.
Did you know that Magnus has a bike?
He stole my bike
So your bike was the one the Emperor himself gave him? Huh, seems the Emperor is more senile than expected.
That E40 comment was underrated 🤣🤙 bravo.

@@italianspartacus watching em all and then will do my best to spread the word whacking links on arches vids etc etc, thers stuff i didnt know in these vids and they funny as hell 👍👍👍
Add this to your Primarch playlist!
THANK YOU DONE!
"Full of no shortage" is going in my quotes for you. Right beside "The sweet breast milk of knowledge."
Hahaha did I say that?!
@@italianspartacus Lol, I do believe the breastmilk comment was in the Mortarian video. I've been waiting for a chance to use it in conversation myself.
*MAGNUS DID NOTHING WRONG*
LEAVE MAGNUS ALONE!
Of course not, he just shattered the hope of using the Webway through his own hubris and almost single-handedly ensured chaos will inevitably win. He's not as bad as Lorgar, Horus, or Nagash, but he's no saint either

what'd i say? i forgot!
This needs to be added to your Primarchs playlist ;)
oh damn! thanks man! adding it now
Triumph of Ullanor happens before the Council of Nikaea, and the visions of Horus’ downfall occurs in the chamber assigned to the TS party
I just recently learned that Rowboat Girliman admired Magnus.

Great video. I'd love to hear your take on Angron or Ferrus Manus.
thanks so much for watching dude! i did a video on angron, hopefully you got a chacne to catch it :)
@@italianspartacus yeah I found it after I posted this. Looking forward to ferrus Manus in the future.
"THE FURRY FUCK DID NOT SUCCEED!"
did i say that?? hahah i really don't remember saying that
I realy fill bad for magnus. and why didnt the Emperor try to help magnus with his situation with russ and mortarian afterall he also uses phycic powers too
the emperor knew that psychic everything lead to the Warp so he only fostered it to a certain point
16:50 LOL. That incredible barrier that you a master of Space Magic can't seem to get thru,,,,,,,,,,yeah, I could help you with that,,,,,no problem. Who am I ? Oh, just some trivial warp entity, nothing note worthy >:-)
Just finding your videos. They’re really well done! Thank you for the lore.
Also, WarhammerTV pronounces Bobby-G’s name as: Row-boo-tay Gill-ee-mun. I hope those phonetics transfer well. Anyways, fantastic videos!
I just made my way through "Perturabo" (Primarch series). What an emotional rollercoaster and what an ending. I think I might actually look more forward to his video than I do Sanguinius' (SUCH HERESY!)
oh damn! was it that good!?!? i haven't cracked into those just yet!
Looking forward to Corax 🔥
hell yeah man, hell yeah. he will be soon!
**space viking... i mean wolf** that was perfect
Tchar'zanek and Albodi give Tzeentch the true norscan look that he really deserves!
Tragic Story, Magnus Magnus....
*drops lasgun*
If the webway project is successful, does it mean Imperium at large denies any chaos materialism? (except the ones close to eye of terror)
It's a silver tower of Tzeentch, each Exalted Sorcerer has their personal one and in the Siege of the Fenris system they drive hundreds of them into it's surface to unload traitor hordes, Daemons and Tzaangors, they also bombard Fenris with them.
And kind of, it limits it but the birth of Slaanesh tells us that even the webway does not starve chaos completely, it however unites humanity and skips the risks of warp based travel.
not necessarily.. the way that the webway project was supposed to go was that man would get access to the webway and the imperium would never deal with dabbling with the immaterium, this would significantly reduce the Ruinous Powers' strength until the Emperor could deal with them
Emperor: Russ, FETCH! Horus: Russ, KILL! :(
I love Magnus, such a tragic story.
Once Mag accepted he and Tizca and the remaining TSons were on a planet in the Eye of Terror and Magnus was fully healed as a daemon prince.
yup that's what i'm sayin :D
Also, I was off by a lot time-wise anyway. So my point doesn't stand up anyway
Tzeench is all his indecisive mollusk glory: Magnus! I gave you the power to save your legion! Or maybe I didn't!
Prospero is not a death world but it does have an infestation of minor warp creatures that feed on psychic energy that couldn't be seen with a naked eye but they could be sensed by powerful psykers. Magnus had managed block them off from the materium. And of course they returned after Prospero was burned.
Though minor warp creatures they could be lethal.

listen to some of the audiobooks/ audiodramas, will help you a bunch on your pronunciation.
even those fluctuate :(
Truth, they're all over the place depending on the narrator.
I’d love a novel about Magnus being split from his psychic powers and chagatai taking him through the warp
Magnus and fulgrim are by far my fav primarchs
My question is when did the Thousand Son's go from red armor to the blue armor. Like was it when Magnus and the rest of his Legion got teleported to the World of Sorcerers or before then?
Ah yes, my favorite son.
Thanks brotha
Thank YOU my dude
I love your sense of humor, Mr Italian.
Sparty, important question that needs an important and proper answer before I start blowing up houses at random in your neighbourhood.. Ahem - One of my many foolish brothers claim that the Black Templars don't use psykers at all? That they claim them all to be witches? D: I mean I know that they hate them and all, but surely they'd put their powers to use like the other chapters?
nope
the templars are more insane emperor worshipping than the inquisition and sisters of battle combined
they still follow the decree of nicea and because they are sons of dorn they have a stick up their arse so large it touches their brain so they are not going to break that decree for anything short of their father or the emperor himself.
unfortunately, in recent lore, the black templars NO LONGER use psykers.. they went from being just an overly zealous chapter of the Imperial Fists that was trying to atone for the self-imposed failures of the Legion by going on a non-stop crusade.... to an extension of.... the office of the imerium i can't think of... that believes, just as you said, that psykers are witches to be burned :/
Awh man.. But they're my favs! ;-; But.. Psykers are neat.. And-.. Meeeh... Gimme the number of the dude in charge of Warhammer lore.. I got some grown-up words for him.
@Victor Kurske NON NOBIS DEUM IMPERATOR NON NOBIS SED NOMINI TUO DA GLORIAM
