yeah, it's a shame that UA-cam let this channel down and let some nonsense bullshit content grow in popularity, the creator must have given up because there are to few views on his videos
Evans0219, I must say you have captured every essence of the night at Village Vanguard in June 25, 1961 when Bill Evans sat down and start playing in front of Orrin Keepnews, Max Gordon and handful of audiences who don't know they were witnessing one of the greatest moment in jazz, together with Paul and Scott. You handled nuance and rubato impeccably. Mr. Frederick Moyer had led The Jazz Arts Trio to re-create this moment as well. You can find their performance in UA-cam and their CD. If possible, I'd like to see you seek bass and drum players to do the full rendition of this masterpiece. I will write you more later. Thank you Al What city are you located in Japanif I may ask?
Hey, incredible playing. This song is my grandma's and grandfather's song. My grandfather recently passed, and I played your version to my grandmother and she started crying. I really want to be able to play this for her myself, but I can't find this version of the score. Do you have this particular sheet music?
Thanks 0219. My wife and I listened to your rendition the other evening reverently in awe of your ability. May I suggest that you are too modest in stating "Copy of Bill Evans". When pianists play a classical piece, the word 'copy' is far removed. Your interpretation is outstanding regardless if the fact that most of the actual composition belongs to the composer BE
Totally agree, though your interpretation may be very influenced by Bill E, you did some nice things with it and I think it deserves more dignity than to call it a copy. Regardless of what you call it though, I thought it was/is superb.
@@jacktaylor1516 He might have said that because he transcribed it or learned it from a transcription. Naturally, every piece played by someone will have some type of interpretation, whether intentional or not.
Absolutely beautiful. It’s even more moving to see how your hands move to make those wonderful sounds that I’ve listened to for years on Bill’s Village Vanguard classic. Economy of movement, beautiful voicings - a perfect interpretation of a truly great recording. Thank you.
Hey, I've had a lot of changes. Whenever I feel a tough day, listen to your cover. It's comforting. I wish to be with this cover in the next time. Thanks.
For those looking for "sheet music:" this Victor Young classic is in most jazz fake books. For those who want a transcription, try Bill Evans Plays Standards, transcribed by Ricardo Tuttobene published by Hal-Leonard. Tuttobene's version is in A like Bill played it (and in this video), but many of the chord voicings are rootless. (Easy enough to add your own bass line.) To the pianist -- great job on a great sounding Yammy. Thanks. "--the key word is desire." -- Bill Evans
Hi, I'm thinking of buying that book for this song. But first I would like to ask you, is it the same as the version of this video? If "many chords are rootles", does that mean you have to improvise yes or yes?
Hi, it's very beautiful. Can you tell me if you were you playing it with all notes written or in a true jazz style with only melody and chord symbols and you did what you want with it?
I can hear the bass and drums in my head
Sacré Benjamin
Scott Lafaro FOREVER
That bass lick! You know which part I'm talking about.
Absolutely
Justice served, sir. Awesome!
