No lies were told. I don’t have a whole house one but a portable and it works. I’m in Florida and my downstairs unit just can’t keep up with upstairs. Got a dehumidifier rated for 5000sqft and I was good. I still had a tech come out. It was low on Freon. Now my AC is only on a few times a day bc they are working more efficiently
We bought a older wet basement, so before we put anything in it. I did a perimeter drain/sump pit dry locked the block walls and purchased a high end dehumidifier. My wife thought I was nuts AGAIN but it has been the best appliance we own. 5 times more than a box store unit but 6 times more efficient. Good things are worth the cost. When looking for a dehumidifier what your looking for is pints per kilowatt. Don't get to caught up in the most efficient get the one that is the best fit for your application. Mine claims it's good for 4500 Sq. feet. I only have 1450 but having it for 10 plus years I wouldn't consider less capacity.

I installed an Aprilaire E80 with and Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced to operate it. Put it next to my attic AC handler, used the same drain as my AC. Installed a dedicated supply vent with filter. Fed the dry air into the supply AC duct work. Wired with a relay to turn on the AC fan. Ordered a custom overflow pan, installed a float switch. Love the setup.

Probably the best video ever on air quality and/or how to build your hvac out correctly. He nailed every point. Go after the why and how something in the air is growing.
If you live in the south dehumidifier is a must no buts or questions.
A separate dehumdifier system will be in my next replacement. It’s more critical than the cooling. This was less of a problem with the older systems as they were designed to run most of the time just less efficiently when not need for cooling. But the high efficiency cycling systems with large coils designed for short run times need separate low speed air dehumidifying.

A dehumidifier is a must if you live in the south. Makes the house smell a whole lot better and it makes you feel a whole lot better. Your air conditioner will also perform better.
i thot that adding central ac would fix the humidity problem when i totally gutted and redid my house...nope. same problems. friend brought over her portable dehumidifier and that made such a big difference. when ac needs replacing i will have one with unit built in. deep south, hot and humid!!!
They are so needed in humid climates! We are in Kansas and it is also very humid in the summertime.
They don't tell u that it sucks alot of energy and causes alot of heat
What kind of system is that?
It depends on climate, where i live, my house humidity level is always between 40-50 with the exception when the electric heater is on in winter, it's very dry in 20-30 range, I had to use humidifier sometimes to prevent drying nose. LOL...
In your video you seem to not have the dehumidifier connected to the duct work. Is it okay to leave these units not connected to the duct work at the inlet/outlet connections?
When it’s leaking what do you do when leaking into the basement
Does it have to be tied into the ducted system? Or can you simply run it in your basement (where the furnace and air handler are located).

What is the best humidity setting for a dehumidifier? I am thinking about running one upstairs and one downstairs just to not make the air conditioner work as hard like you said your conditioner is meant to cool your house not Dehumidifier your house
I keep mine at 50% Before I got the unit, the humidity in my 1100 sqft apartment stayed in the mid 60s. I got one rated at 35 pints and it does a great job. It is much more comfortable and I was able to turn the temperature up from 69 degrees to 72 degrees.
Just get a portable one and save a bunch
Not for a basement at 65% constantly. You would have to empty that cheap walmart unit every 3 hrs.

@@magic2506 Don't get a super cheap unit, spend $200 and get a 50 pint that drains automatically into a floor drain or sink or something like that. You can even drain it into your sewer system
