Someone will have to average 24.5 points a game and play all 82 games every season for 20 straight seasons if this record ever gets broken. It’s bonkers to think of how impossible this record will be to break.

@@jioc.1921Luka is already getting pudgy. He would really have to truly dedicate himself to his body. This record will really be tested once that said player reaches age 30. Being able to score at high levels in your mid 30s is the problem.
Guys age more like Jordan or Kobe in their 30s. Lebron aged like something else we have seen before. I think you’re being disingenuous by assuming Luka would continue these monster numbers in his mid to late 30s.

He is in the convo. Vegas odds for Wemby DPOY have skyrocketed this past month after he averaged 4.6 blocks in February. Gobert still the favorite, but if Wemby continues to put up the stocks (steals+blocks) like he has recently for the rest of the season, he could possibly win it, especially if the Spurs can win 40%+ of remaining games which they very well could, seeing as they are coming off two wins against playoff teams including the 1 seed in back to back games.

The Lakers and the Warriors are both dangerous teams in the playoffs. The only team that probably isn't worried about either of them is Denver but any other team is sweating bullets thinking one if not these two teams will make the playoffs as the 7th or 8th seed.

I don't think it's a stretch at all. When LeBron entered the league, did anyone foresee him playing at a high level for over 20 years? Yes of course the expectation was that he would be great but were there really people saying he could break 40k points? Of course not.
You say that with hindsight, but it's just not true. Based on the discourse back then, nobody saw him breaking Kareem's record let alone extending it to 40k.. probably because they didnt expect him to play for 23+ seasons while still being as good.

The one thing the Lakers have going for them is they can watch where Denver lands and avoid them until the Western Confrence Final. If Denver is the 2 or 3 Seed the lakers will avoid that the side of the bracket as much as possible.

Honestly, LeBron is so underpaid. I wish the NBA would eliminate the player's maximum contract (35% of the cap) and set the salary according to the market. Some players are underpaid (I'm not saying we should eliminate the salary cap. If one player receives more than 50% of the team's salary, other players receive less money.)

That's the exact opposite of the reality of steroids. Usually, they shorten careers. In baseball, after a few years of great production, the athletes experience a sudden falloff in skills, and are a shell of their former selves. LeBron has been the exception to that pattern. He has retooled and refined his game over the years, adding this or that skill as needed. He's beating teams and players twenty years younger by out working and outsmarting the opposition. Much respect to this unique superstar. And Wemby is the next one....
