  • I'll show you how I replaced both of the struts on my 2012 Dodge Journey without needing to remove the back seats in full or any plastic trim. You will need to cut an access hole, but it will be below the seat and never seen. You can find plenty of videos on UA-cam if you want to it the "right way", but this is for those of you looking for a quick and easy shortcut.

    THANK YOU! 👍🏼
    I ended up cutting a wider flap with a Dremel, wrapping around towards the Seat Belt Bolt and removing the Bolt. The Rear Nut is the difficult one.

    I went to Pep Boys to get an estimate to replace rear struts on a 2011 Dodge Journey the estimate was about $1400: $800+ for the struts $70 labor warranty $70 wheel alignment $400+ labor. 🤔😳😮🤬 That doing it myself thanks to your video making it so much easier. I bought the struts with springs off eBay for $100. 🤔😳🤣

      Oddly (or not) the 2 row seat version (at least on the 2010) does have access panels under the floor cover.

    Thank you. This is exactly what I'm going to do on my 2010 and cover the panel with black gorilla tape when done.

    Good job. I do 95% of my own work. What I have to do is change the control arms some call it. My tires are bald on the inside outer edge thread. Good video.

    Great minds think alike. This is exactly what I was going to do to mine. You just need 1.5-2" flap and use a ratcheting wrench to get the nuts off.

    it waas also a good chance to change links once struts are off the vehicle

      If you mean the rear toe links, yes... they were shot at well. I had to grind and saw the adjustment bolt out because they had seized inside the bushing. Real pain...

    I just did this last Friday on mine luckily for me i didnt have the 3rd row so i used the panels and it worked great! I did have to cut and replace one of the lower boldts out because it just kept spinning in place but other than that success.

    I have a 2012 3.6l journey. Needs rear struts. Only 2 row seating. Where would the access panel be?

      @ShawnWhetsel  Рік тому +1

      So far as I am aware, the same place. You may need to remove the floor pan. I saw a video online that showed it, that's how I got the idea.

    This is the way. Would hate to go through the long way, only to find out one of the struts is faulty and you need to redo it all over again lol

    I looked at doing mine this way! WRONG way to do it. It may take 3 times longer to pull the whole interior out of the back of the car……. but the job is much Moro professionally done
