    Super detailed! Awesome..I did this with my uncle on my 98 Buick century custom back in 2014 I believe...now I drive a 2000 century..the stock cd player works well but I'd like to have some fun and put a modern one in and upgrade the speakers ..how is the job of upgrading the front door speakers and the speakers in the back? And also having a basic amp/sub? Nothing to get me arrested just something where I can listen to music loud and clear while driving with the windows rolled down in the summer

    • @stevensgarage7284
      @stevensgarage7284  4 роки тому

      Glad you liked the video! The front speakers aren’t too hard to do. But the rears are kinda a pain. For the fronts you just need to pull the door panel off. For the rears you have to pull out the entire back seat as well as the fabric back dash. Then you also have to climb inside the trunk to unhook the speakers as well as release the clips

    • @deanhalleck5738
      @deanhalleck5738 2 роки тому +2

      actually it's not to hard at all and you don't have to climb in the trunk , , Your Best bet is to find the video on the 2002 Buick Century - ua-cam.com/video/DZRJ65Z1dY4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Zombie-7
      - And then video on changing the back speakers out of a 1999 Buick Grand Prix - (GRANDPRIXGT1999) - ua-cam.com/video/kSQw9ZEcPQY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=GRANDPRIXGT1999 - I think it is almost exactly the same as the Buick Century and that guy did the best job of showing the Easiest way of doing the job - ( the others weren't filmed quite as well and are harder to see what the people are doing) .
      - ALSO - There is a video on how to pull out the back seat that's very good if still not clear on how to do that, it is called - Remove seat in Buick Century & GM cars - ua-cam.com/video/K-4SQDXh4cw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MatthewJeschke
      -- Quick rundown on how to -
      - After you pull out the bottom the bottom of the back seat there are two bolts to take out down at the bottom of each corner , then pop the back of the seat up and out , then there are 3 big Plastic clips to pull out that hold the fabric/plastic on top of the back deck that cover the speakers there - ( DON'T try and get the plastic speaker covers off they will probably break ) - the black plastic clips are similar to the kind of clips that hold the front door panels on, but a lot bigger. Then you pull out the fabric/plastic cover on the top of the back deck. After that then just remove the 4 small screws on each speaker that hold them in the plastic speaker adapters - then just unclip the wire from the harness and your done.

    How do you remove the clip from the radio? I’ve been googling for a hour and everyone seems to skip this. They are no way I can see behind it to see what clip it has and can barely fit my hand behind it.

    • @stevensgarage7284
      @stevensgarage7284  3 роки тому +1

      The black plastic holder for the stock stereo that holds it in place? Snap it off. There’s no proper way to remove it. The reason why I didn’t include it was because I know I would get a lot of hate for “breaking” it off

  • @AdamChadwick

    I just did mine with a Blaupunkt NJ8820. A few problems: The steering wheel controls don’t work to control the stereo. The stereo’s LEDs do not tie in to the rest of the dashboard dimming system, like the factory stereo does. What is this your experience as well, and if so, do you have any solutions? Thanks for your video.

    • @stevensgarage7284
      @stevensgarage7284  4 роки тому +2

      They sell an adapter that you have to wire in to get the steering wheel controls to work. As for the dimmer. It all depends on if the adapter and the stereo have the comparability. Some do some don’t.

    Thanks for your video. So I Bought the wiring harness that looked the exact same as yours. The mounting kit was the same also. Them I took ou the Stock stereo and there were two harnesses that were connected to mine, plus the antenna connector. Go everything color-coded that matched spliced into the new harness the only problem was that it leaves this secondary two wire black Delfi harness that comes off the back of the stock stereo that's right next to the big wide one that the harness plugs into. So I tried it without that black one and I get no power to it even though the ground and power wires are connected in the harness. No one shows the removal of the stock radio in full and or the install in full from plugging in the wires and then plugging in the aftermarket radio. I notice that you have some wires going off to the side of your harness that you don't explain, Maybe that's what I'm missing, maybe not. I have pictures and all that if I could email you or something id really appreciate any help you could bring.

      Good luck with your install! And one thing I didn’t mention in the video. If you install an older stereo like I did. You’ll need to trim the plastic bar that’s inside the dash behind the old stereo. It’s easy to do. I just used snips and cut it out.
