    Needs price adjustment. $6,999 ~ $7,499 max.

I just don’t think RED upgraded enough from DSMC2 to justify buying a Komodo X. A Gemini is a better buy today than Komodo/X and those can be found at good prices with accessories.

      Silly

Nah, not silly. Cleaner footage way less digital noise in low light. The Komodo is terrible as a doc/event cam and the frame rates are abysmal if you shoot sports. The Komodo X has the frame rates but image difference is negligible, having shot both I’d even say Gemini is better or equal, R3D is R3D and that global sensor isn’t exactly fantastic in low light.
Only reason to pick the new one, budget and project. Otherwise Gemini has better lens options, frame rates, low light, but yeah it’s not brand new. But for a film maker on a budget and only one RED to buy the Gemini is tough to beat. Even when stacked against the new ones.

@@UndertheHandWraps Size, and weight is a huge factor. Having the option to put this on a handheld gimbal is awesome. Usability is way easier, using your phone as a wireless monitor and controlling all setting is a legit benefit. Autofocus and power efficiency are big features i have no need to expand on. The Komodo X saves you money on set and is faster deployments. Gemini is going to cost more money in the long run, from serviceability a demand. Only benefit is the dual native iso and Sensor format for Gemini. A speedbooster on the X can put the lowlight on par and has more lens options to take advantage of. You have an opinion

@@JitDawgBruhDang Well, you know what they say about opinions lol. They’re both good, I think we can agree on that. It’s more about the shooter than the camera ultimately.

This channel has gotten a bit bad. I feel they have gotten obsessed with the idea that you need the next best thing. There are successful filmmakers using 10 year old cameras and he is here asking if a 1 year old camera is still worth it. And before he was like can I do a job with only my phone and proceeded to purchase thousands of dollars worth of accessories to help with the shoot. Can't take him seriously at all.

I appreciate the feedback. I would recommend watching the full video. The video is tailored for helping someone who is in the market for the camera. I fully understand your position on the channel. I’ve been a bit all over as I am not just making content for me but for others. But maybe I should just focus on me. As when I try to help others it gets lost in translation.

Help other people isn't really the issue. And showing cool cameras and there features is fine. Just be careful. And the original premise of the cellphone video was really good, its just the execution that made people leave fun comments. Maybe do that challenge again but this time with only the phone no other accessories. If sound is required a cheap mic. Show people what you can do with minimal equipment. I do find your equipment review helpful, especially the video wireless stuffs.

You'll be blown away by what I shot recently on a Canon 700D/Rebel T5i. And I absolutely mean it, it will blow your socks right off. It doesn't do native 4K but sure looks quite close to it.
It's absolutely NUTS. No need to spend anywhere near that amount. You can get 97% there with my rig that cost me about 800€ all together including the camera. If you forget the rig and just include a tripod and an ND, it's 40x times cheaper than a barebones komodo x and just as reliable.
      It's coming out on 31.5
