I have read that the fruit should be picked before the veil breaks to release spores. The idea was the spores will send a signal to the mycelium to stop producing pins (thus mushrooms) and can ruin the prospects of a decent 2nd flush. I would imagine this means most shrooms harvested would be on the small side. I'm not sure if picking such small fruit simple to promote a second flush of similarly small fruit is better than allowing the mushrooms to grow to their full size. Interesting stuff to learn about.
Small shrooms will stay small. They wont get any bigger even if you let them grow after the veil breaks. Thats why you harvest them all at once if the first veils start breaking. So you dont waste the potential of a second/third/... flush. Exception to this is the strain Copelandia Hawaiian (Panaeolus cyanescens) where you actually wanna harvest after the veil breaks. A beautiful black/white looking shroom which is 5 times more potent than the typical Cubensis strains. Look it up ;)

0:42 you see tall 1 on right has barely started to split, you see little cracks and a gape forming between the veil and the cap, that's good start, the one on the left where the veil is come apart that would be the latest you could pick before it would release spores, it may have already released some with the amount its separated. You can see the spores in the gills (black colour). Some times you'll see black on the veil after it's separated that indicates the mushroom has started releasing spores and should pick. All just opinion I'm not 100% on anything but I think it's mostly to do with preserving the substrate for more flushes... I assume however spores thar fall on other mushrooms could probably start germinating on other mushrooms so just be vigilante when the first veil starts to seperate (I assume you're checking on them often at this point just wait until the veil starts to break away from the cap 100% and pick, assuming the other fruits are big n strong if they're not then go off the 2nd or 3rd mushroom veil. Just don't let loads of caps split.

I can't get mine to grow evenly.. some always seem to grow faster, and start spreading their spores. And then to top it of, my copelandia that I thought were dry enough, and which I put in a airtight plastic box with my cubensis got rotten and it was all covered in milk dew.. that was a sad discovery
Just harvest the fruiting bodies that just broke thier veil, rinse and repeat. Might be tedious but its worth it to get maximum yield and to avoid aborts. Those mushys you put in the airtight box probably still had moisture in them. Safe travels!
@@mortenfrosthansen84 use a fruit dehydrator. These things with multiple circular trays that will circulate warm air around the trays. About 40°C, for 8 hours and they will be bone dry. These machines dont cost much. When they are dried you can even vaccum seal them in plastic bags and then store them in the freezer. There, they can be stored for as long as you want

How your going well iv recently only got my first pins and if your started from spores don’t get disappointed because you see nothing happening it’s all a process it took me about 3 weeks before I saw my first sign of growth then from there it was fully done within a month and then took me 8days after opening it to see pins and now tbere growing happily just waiting for them to grow so I can pick them

How long did cultivation take? I bought a all in one but only a 2-4mm gap so no room for them to grow. First grow of gourmet mushrooms does the substrate dehydrate in time or something as I can not figure out otherwise how they'll have space to grow! Any advice appreciated

15g each time, it got me very high and gave me some information etc., but no visuals or anything deeper.
Friends of mine took 10g and they had everything.

@@freigeist777 nice I haven't tried truffles yet but I've heard good things. If you wanna have a manageable experience i recommend 2-3 gs but if you really wanna go deep definitely 4-5gs

I've read just before is the time, or right when it starts to.
0:42 you see tall 1 on right has barely started to split, you see little cracks and a gape forming between the veil and the cap, that's good start, the one on the left where the veil is come apart that would be the latest you could pick before it would release spores, it may have already released some with the amount its separated. You can see the spores in the gills (black colour). Some times you'll see black on the veil after it's separated that indicates the mushroom has started releasing spores and should pick. All just opinion I'm not 100% on anything but I think it's mostly to do with preserving the substrate for more flushes... I assume however spores thar fall on other mushrooms could probably start germinating on other mushrooms so just be vigilante when the first veil starts to seperate (I assume you're checking on them often at this point just wait until the veil starts to break away from the cap 100% and pick, assuming the other fruits are big n strong if they're not then go off the 2nd or 3rd mushroom veil. Just don't let loads of caps split.

I can't get mine to grow evenly.. some always seem to grow faster, and start spreading their spores.
And then to top it of, my copelandia that I thought were dry enough, and which I put in a airtight plastic box with my cubensis got rotten and it was all covered in milk dew.. that was a sad discovery
Just harvest the fruiting bodies that just broke thier veil, rinse and repeat. Might be tedious but its worth it to get maximum yield and to avoid aborts. Those mushys you put in the airtight box probably still had moisture in them. Safe travels!

@@mortenfrosthansen84 use a fruit dehydrator. These things with multiple circular trays that will circulate warm air around the trays. About 40°C, for 8 hours and they will be bone dry. These machines dont cost much. When they are dried you can even vaccum seal them in plastic bags and then store them in the freezer. There, they can be stored for as long as you want

How your going well iv recently only got my first pins and if your started from spores don’t get disappointed because you see nothing happening it’s all a process it took me about 3 weeks before I saw my first sign of growth then from there it was fully done within a month and then took me 8days after opening it to see pins and now tbere growing happily just waiting for them to grow so I can pick them

Mine is 10 days deep and I think its time to harvest later today. Rehydrated the substrate 10 days ago and wasn't expected it to grow so fast!! I used a heat mat and made sure the heat was constant

You want to harvest right before the veil breaks if your going for potency you can wait till they are about to drop spores so a little after the veil breaks if you want to go for weight
How long did cultivation take? I bought a all in one but only a 2-4mm gap so no room for them to grow. First grow of gourmet mushrooms does the substrate dehydrate in time or something as I can not figure out otherwise how they'll have space to grow! Any advice appreciated

@@Shurmash doesn't take long. The mycelium is prolific and aggressive. Responds well to 50/50 coir/Vermiculite mix with a dash of sterilized cow manure. As to affects, similar to psylocybe cyanescens. But stronger, and clearer mental processes.👍

i tried this for the first time in my life but i had a serious problem. i made a mistake, following the right advice of a pro only at the wrong time which lead to the pie smelling very very sour.
instead of tossing it like they say you should i decided to resort to my chemical knowledge and gave it a treatment and against my expectations (im not a biochemist) i actually managed to save something and right now as i post this i am filming a timelaps of my first ever selfgrown shroom, a tiny golden teacher

@@alex6629227 i somehow made it explode. lol. the golden teacher is totally off the rails. i have never seen more than 25 shrooms on a 2100ccm cake-surface and i now got like 200 shrooms growing on the same cake only that its even cut back a bit. i gave it an oxygen-dry-season treatment by cutting away the bad bits, then treating it with hydrogenperoxide and dialing back the waterinput. i am still filming, there are so many shrooms that there is almost no naked ground left to see. i wonder if thats normal and 80%+ abort to let the strongest ones grow, or if they all grow and this is some type of accident. ideas welcome
