Which of San Francisco Oakland and San Jose have the best access to beaches, forests and mountains etc?
Northern California is not known for its great beaches. Probably the best beaches in the area or in Santa Cruz or Capitola. San Jose is closest to those cities. As far as getting to the mountains Oakland is closest to Lake Tahoe and Reno area. San Francisco is best for going to your words and other locations along the northern California coast
I already live in California but considering a move to Oakland for need of a studio or 1 bedroom apartment, better public transportation and Amtrak to Chicago. What's it like for older partially retired people?
