To be fair every cartoon or comedy has a moment where it’s very heavy and potent, these shows teach kids valuable life lessons wether they’re cheery or dark.
Did you know? Back in 1992, Bill Cosby spoke on television. Asking the looters and rioters, to stop the vandalism, rioting, and any attempted attack on civilians. This happened when the final episode of The Cosby Show was airing. That was during the 1992 LA Riots.
This episode wrecked me as a child and I was hoping it was a false memory, to be honest. It's the most upsetting when you're a child expecting comedy in an innocent cartoon and boom, there's horrible adult tragedy with no warning.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe this originally aired in prime time and it did have a disclaimer at the beginning. I know they did that for the prison episode.
I remember watching an episode in which Bill Cosby in the beginning announces that the episode contains strong language and advises those kids to watch with their parents. The episode in question featured Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids visiting a prison and meeting real life inmates.
@@meyerj75 This reminds me of the time that I watched a different episode of Fat Albert in Kindergarten of 2010. We had to watch this one episode as a way to learn about how drugs/alcohol are bad. The episode was about when the Cosby Kids befriend a boy who secretly drank whiskey, and I remember when Fat Albert saw him buying it by hiding behind a wall or something. Man, that episode was less darker when I watched it as a kid than it is now.
Y'all can correct me but if y'all thought that wrecked some of y'all as a child, have you watched the anti bullying short film Broken Toy? I remember watching it twice in second and fourth grade. That film fricked up my childhood so brutally that it's the reason why gore and horror movies don't bother me as badly as it did as a kid. But is the horror goes to the point that it goes too far and creepy, I'm up and out of here. Sometimes they still do.
This was *years* before he got caught for his sexual transgressions. However, being sexually deviant doesn't mean you value life so poorly that you'd kill it if it didn't sleep with you.
honestly this is one of the greatest anti violence episodes ive ever seen. Like unironically this sends a clear cut message that people amd kids can understand
I remember me and my little brother breaking down crying as kids when we watched this episode. Valuable life lesson that i have never forgotten. But upsetting nonetheless.
It often touched on real life situations that teenagers and older children may find themselves in, particularly in an urban environment. Issues such as racism, violence, family problems and solicitation by strangers were all things that Fat Albert touched upon in order to try to send a positive message to its viewers.
jason moran it was about kids that had to live in that environment. Seeing them trying to make the best out of where they are. Teaching, or trying to teach, kids that are also in thsst situation that they can try to make it. It was in hopes to not have what Chicago is today. But you could also see how so,e people's lives were just worst than their own. So it had more than one message. See what happens here. See t hst there are good people trying. And even when good people try, so,times it's not enough. So try helping them when you can. Also understand, they are human. Some people just can't be helped. Or won't take it. But go back to seeing how they start off. Can you blame them sometimes? Educate everyone, and maybe everyone will give helping hands to eliminate the bad situations. America had a race problem LONG before the recent 2000s
I think this is exactly why he was setup. He was ruining the elites divide and conquer policies before they gained complete control. And when they did, they framed him.
CJ. Tell me about it, back when PC was nonexistence. Maybe if we hadn't censored so much stuff. We wouldn't have all these mass shootings or issues today.
Kids cartoons then: Hey we killed off a character. Kids cartoons now: *NO! WE CAN’T PUT GUNS OR WE’LL BE BLAMED FOR SHOOTINGS! DON’T SAY ANYTHING REMOTELY RELATED TO DEATH NOOOO! YOUR SHOW’S TOO GOOD TO AIR HERE!!!*
Meanwhile in real life Fernandos killer is never found because no one talks to the police. Mainly because the citizens are afraid of the gangs killing them if they rat. His brother then gets irritated with the corrupt PD and gets revenge anyways.

Actually, a pretty cool example of tackling gun violence in a modern cartoon is 'OK K.O.!, Let's Be Heroes,' where they had an episode on gun violence, though they didn't explicitly use guns, instead opting for something that fit better into the cartoony superhero canon. The episode is called 'Let's Not Be Skeletons.'

2000's Cartoon for Adults: Haha a scientist turning into a pickle so funny blblblblblblblb
Edit: Stop getting angry by random comment on yt lol
An elegant cartoon, from a more civilized age
Keep in mind that same show is just as fucked up.
No sense...
Inmature. Asshole
Oh god not you people again
To be fair every cartoon or comedy has a moment where it’s very heavy and potent, these shows teach kids valuable life lessons wether they’re cheery or dark.
"Why did they kill my brother?"
"This is Philadelphia. Shit happens here."
Zoinks! Looks like Shaggys serving a life sentence for that one!
-
And the sirens from the police car sounded like ghosts from Pac Man
That was not Shaggy. He does not have a contract to appear in any Filmation cartoons in any case.
That is not Norville Rogers
Cop: here's your call
Fred: Hello?
Shaggy: Fred you gotta help me man! I shot a child in the head and i'm going to the electric chair man!
I was super sheltered as a kid, but for some reason I was allowed to watch this show and not rug rats.
What's wrong with rugrats?
RedAwesomeBatman 5000 I wouldn't know. I never got to watch it lol
Can’t you watch it now?
Nani the hecc yeah but I don't feel like it 😂
There were some inappropriate jokes in rug rats
Did you know? Back in 1992, Bill Cosby spoke on television. Asking the looters and rioters, to stop the vandalism, rioting, and any attempted attack on civilians. This happened when the final episode of The Cosby Show was airing. That was during the 1992 LA Riots.
03:00 ok TV tropes you were right. That was pretty absurd.
@@brianschwartz1372 Well, the ten year olds in my class did not see it.
Thank god he just blamed him for killing his brother right after he died
TechnoSinister why?
TechnoSinister what anime is your pfp from?
AlmightyKillz he was part of a gang himself and since the rival gang was going to kill him Fernando ran to save his brother costing his life
GET OUT OF MY CAR RIGHT FUCKING NOW. I have no idea but I get recommended the opening for it like everyday
Big Mac Sauce really? Do you know the ops name?
I wish I grew up watching fat Albert. He is a legend
Damn, you wouldn't expect a show as easy going as Fat Albert to tackle such heavy topics.
That's something you won't see in modern kids cartoons
Dubspez you seen Steven universe ?
Yea but I feel like this show's theme is more explicit in comparison to how Steven's Universe goes about it. Idk maybe it's just me
Dubspez yeah this is more explicit but the surprise death still happens in the rare kids show today
Steven Universe deal with underage crime gangs?
Dot Radio No, not Steven Universe
0:45 If only people learned this today
It’s very sad that Fernando had to die. He was innocent.
Say what you will about Bill, you cant tell me this lesson isnt wholesome af
Oh boy this anime is so good
Constructive Criticism Oh come now! That's a funny meme. Buts it's also ded.. Just like Fernando.
Parappa The Rapper stop being a fart nigga

Parappa The Rapper im necrophilic so i like it if its ded anyways

It’s kind of funny seeing Bill Cosby give a speech about human life...
This was *years* before he got caught for his sexual transgressions.
However, being sexually deviant doesn't mean you value life so poorly that you'd kill it if it didn't sleep with you.
(Sniffles) yeah 😔🤧
Far as I know, Bill Cosby didn't kill anyone.
@@DeeTimmyfan

honestly this is one of the greatest anti violence episodes ive ever seen. Like unironically this sends a clear cut message that people amd kids can understand
I remember me and my little brother breaking down crying as kids when we watched this episode. Valuable life lesson that i have never forgotten. But upsetting nonetheless.
I can't believe shaggy fucking killed Fernando
Jeff the bot LoL
Jeff the bot don't you mean bootleg shaggy?
Winner Star nah. That's Shaggy as a mf

The Big Wumpus your funny

@@mabufang2217 wooooosh
Have you ever seen what they did to the latest season? Thats the real depressing stuff
This is clearly little bill.
"Every human life is precious, and should none should be wasted."
The sad part is this still applies maybe even more so now
As an Australian. We never got Fat Albert. (Only the movie) Was it always this emotional?
Kinda
It often touched on real life situations that teenagers and older children may find themselves in, particularly in an urban environment. Issues such as racism, violence, family problems and solicitation by strangers were all things that Fat Albert touched upon in order to try to send a positive message to its viewers.
It was preachy and they show the cartoon sometimes in American classrooms when the subject matter dealt with drugs or domestic violence.
I only remember that they lived in the trash dump and had a band where they played garbage...
jason moran it was about kids that had to live in that environment.
0:05 The siren is just the noise Pac-Man makes when the ghosts become edible
Those are normal sirens.
That would be funny if someone edited the ghost death noises when shaggy and his street gang get cuffed.
Yoooooo😂😂😂
Wise show.
So sad Bill betrayed us. He was a positive influence for a long time.
I think this is exactly why he was setup. He was ruining the elites divide and conquer policies before they gained complete control. And when they did, they framed him.
Betrayed us? Who are you?
He's still a positive influence for me, idk what world you're living in.
@@fire418 he drugged and raped unconscious women. That is a positive role model for you?
Not just accused. Bill admitted it!
@@fire418 Bill SA’d women. That is not a positive influence!
Bill Coby:Every Human life is precious and none should be wasted"
He sure took that lesson to heart and made the most out of everyone he met
Why didn't they put Fernando's name on the sign instead of just a hat?
h e l l o I wonder the same
They had a budget
modernism
h e l l o I think I know why. Its because a blue cap is what Fernando always wore
It's funny because the ending seemed like they were honoring his hat.😂😂😂😂
bill cosby talking about doing the right thing is very ironic LOL
Even the adults call Fat Albert, Fat Albert. That can't be good for his self esteem.
He loves people calling his name.
0:57 why does that look so terrifying
Genexolev Ashtiani his like I wants and needs ya and I wants ya

It's so funny hearing the mayor introduce 'Fat Albert' to the crowd.
Saturday Morning cartoons had some balls back then!
Damn I thought this was kid show. This shit is dark but also real.
CJ. Tell me about it, back when PC was nonexistence. Maybe if we hadn't censored so much stuff. We wouldn't have all these mass shootings or issues today.
Like real life and cosby going to prison :^)
CJ this is a kids show
diego herrera who the hell is josh?
This happened in real life back in 75 Chicago is rough
We went from this to Steven Universe.
Exactly
wtf are you talking about, su is a fantasy show, ofc its gonna be a lot different
Funny thing, that latter point is why the 90's Spider-Man cartoon had laser guns. And yet *Fat fuckin' Albert* had realistic gang wars.
Meanwhile in real life Fernandos killer is never found because no one talks to the police. Mainly because the citizens are afraid of the gangs killing them if they rat. His brother then gets irritated with the corrupt PD and gets revenge anyways.
EarlFaulk so it's Gta San Andreas
No its just any former industrial American city where the police are incompetent. Detroit, Philly, Newark, etc.
Don’t worry Paul kersey will take care of them

It's a shame Fat Albert is a fictional character. He'd make a fantastic civic leader.
This is dark and one of the few shows back then that covered death and addressed it. Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street also did it as well
Didn't fraggle rock talk about death in one episode too?
Albert was the most based guy in TV history.
Bill Cosby was the ghetto Mr Rodgers.

I am glad that no one rebooted this show when it is perfect the way it is.
Gotta love how old cartoons cried one tear at a time.
The fact that no one is gonna talk about the blue hat dude escaping the cops
Some kids 20 years from now.
"Where do you want to meet up?"
"Iunno wanna meet up at blue hat park?"
Cartoons these days never tackle serious issues like gun violence' and to those of you who read this do not call me a moron and spark conflict' it happened to me before and after I deleted my comment the last time I noticed that there where so many shootings I lost track' for those of you who read this spread the word about how gun violence is bad talk to your parents or guardians about it and stay safe out there it might save you own life.
But older cartoons were racist soooo...

@@inspectorjavert9868 I never said it was moron I said OLDER CARTOONS.
@@inspectorjavert9868 idiot
Actually, a pretty cool example of tackling gun violence in a modern cartoon is 'OK K.O.!, Let's Be Heroes,' where they had an episode on gun violence, though they didn't explicitly use guns, instead opting for something that fit better into the cartoony superhero canon. The episode is called 'Let's Not Be Skeletons.'
Fat Albert like: 'you gonna eat that dead guy?'
At the end Fernando became world-famous since I am watching this video from Argentina and get into know all this stuff from the 80's...
