You did great! If you use the flyaway attachment first, it will tame all those flyaways you're seeing. If you want beach waves, hold the end of the hair section and wrap it around the barrel manually (so bypass the coanda effect.) Then turn on the airflow and heat. Don't let go of the end so it comes out straight while the rest of the section is wavy. Also, you don't have to hold the barrel upside down anymore to get the opposite directional curl. You can simply twist the little button at the top to change the direction now. Don't dismiss the smoothing brush attachment as something that you may already have. I did that as well but once I tried it, it quickly became my favorite Dyson attachment of all. The coanda effect on the smoothing brushes is magical. It allows you to brush dry your hair with very little tension as the air flow from the coanda keeps the hair against the brush, thus resulting in much less damage and smoothing down the hair cuticle. I was incredulous of the Dyson price and had purchased and used the Shark system for several months. Their curling barrels are great but their brushes (which do not use the coanda effect) pulled out and damaged so much of my hair I ended up at a dermatologist thinking I had hairloss. The Dyson has saved me.
Oh wow Christy, thank you SO much for the advice. I'm all over it! It'll start with the manual wrapping and tomorrow I'll try the smoothing brush 👍 Are there any particular products that will help hold the curls?
@@SkinObsessedMary Honestly I just apply a pea size amount of blowdry cream before styling like Olaplex 6 or BrioGio Farewell Frizz. I don't pin the curls or anything else. I don't even use the cool shot and my curls hold. I think it depends on the hair type. I wait for them to cool and run my fingers thru my hair at the end. Never brush too much or they will fall out.
@@SkinObsessedMary Also when you do the manual wrap, try to not have the hair wrap on top of itself but more spread out on the barrel. If that makes sense. ua-cam.com/video/ZHA-pcN4M9Y/v-deo.html
Thank you for the video. I was in Nordstroms Houston TX and the saleswoman used it on a section of my fine, barely to the shoulder, hair. Wow. I walked away knowing it would haunt me until I bought it. Haven’t yet. Been combing thru all the UA-cam vids of it and so many had thick, long hair that it was useless info until today and I saw yours! My birthday is next month and this will be my gift to myself. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to seeing more. Would you travel with it out of the country? I have a European trip coming up and I’m unsure what to do about hair tools.
I was exactly the same! It took me a year to commit and I poured over UA-cam for how-to videos and there were only gals with already beautiful, thick, long hair. It works for us thin hair girls too! NO you cannot travel to Europe with it - it's not dual voltage (US is 120 and Europe is 240). It'll blow up. Before I buy any unit (particularly from the US) I make sure. The only hair device I travel with is my L'Ange Le Duo because it both straightens and curls go.shopmy.us/p-1133453 But it's not going to dry. I used to travel with me Revlon One Shot (I have 1 for the US and 1 for EU) but I've just gone to air dry and straighten or curl (or use hotel, air b&b dryer). Can't be bothered 😣
I gifted it to my 40th birthday and at first i was disappointed but then i checked some tutorials and fell in love with it. And i love that it doesn't dry out my hair, they are healthy and glowy. But of course you need to use heat protection, me personally i love davines, it is just perfect for my hair.
You look beautiful! In terms of getting curls to last I use smaller sections, also when the barrel wraps the hair pull it a few times back and forth from the top of the head to create tension. I find tension and smaller pieces helps curls last for longer :)
That's such an interesting question and I had to think about it....yes, I think the Dyson gives a bit more of bounce (even with the better .8" barrell) and the L'Ange more of a beachy wave.
You look gorgeous before and simply amazingly stunning at the end. How long did it take you ? How long did it last ! Well done and enjoy your new toy 😆
Thank you so much! The whole thing took about 15 minutes. That's not bad... However, it didn't last long 😣 Just a few hours. Need to work on the product side of things I think 🤔
Hi Mary. I have JUST come across your Dyson Tutorial 😊and your channel. I just subscribed to your channel. I have hair that falls flat, I don't get volume and my curls don't last. How have you found the Dyson now that you have had it for a few months? Is it worth it?
Thank you so much for subscribing 😊 That's a very good question! I can say that I use it every time I blow dry my hair. It's interesting...I though I'd use the barrels more but it's actually the straightening brush I use the most (and the round brush for my new fringe/bangs). Perhaps because it's the fastest. I did purchase the smaller barrel (.8") that is MUCH better for the beach waves that I love. But do I think it's worth it? Let's just say, I wouldn't be paying close to €600. I used gift certificates I got for Christmas that brought the price down to about €120. I definitely thing it's worth that. I have learned that the curls stay much longer with a mousse. It definitely helps. The thing I like the most is that it's kinder to my hair. I'm struggling with menopausal hair that's breaking and thinning. But another option is the Zuvi, which I'm testing right now. Super kind on the hair but it doesn't have any fancy attachments....it's just a hair dryer. But it's a kind hair dryer. What kind of dryer are you needing?
No it doesn't have a straightening capability aside from the smoothing brush, which is designed for that. Otherwise you'd have to get the Dyson Corrale...
Mine is the regular, only because they didn't have the long when I went to purchase. I went back and bought the long barrels separately because the big blow-out isn't what I'm going for myself..

Looks so good! Love your excitement and amazement every time you look at Gary 😊 xx
Thank you! And that's very sweet ☺️
Absolutely gorgeous hairstyle on you, Mary. So much volume, I'm very impressed 🙂
Thank you so much! I was shocked 😯
That is absolutely gorgeous!! I could never buy it at this point, but...maybe one day in the future....far, far, far future!!🙃
That's exactly what I said! I just got lucky this year :)

Fingers crossed 🤞
Please come back and let me know how it goes 🙏

Thank you!! I'm pretty impressed myself ☺️

Oooh I'l check out Davines, thanks. Do you use any other products to help keep the curl?
I have medium length, full, fairly wavy hair and I would LOVE to try this.
Go for it!
Which size is recommended for medium length(chest size hair length) little longer than yours.
Can somebody tell me when the these barrels get restocked in USA they are constantly out of stock for months
They have it Sephora!

Wow! Looks beautiful. I hope you will give us an update as to how long the curls last. An hour or all day. Love the curl.
Thank you so much!
Downside...it didn't last long. Only a few hours (which is no big surprise). Now it's time to experiment with products, I think

That's fantastic - thank you so much!
So gorgeous hairstyle. Thanks for sharing. Do you think there is any difference of the bounce and shine between Dyson and L‘ange? Thanks!

Hi, is your Dyson the long one or normal one?
Mine is the regular, only because they didn't have the long when I went to purchase.
I went back and bought the long barrels separately because the big blow-out isn't what I'm going for myself..
I’ve got same set today too 🥰
Woohoo!! Let me know what you think! I did pick up the .8" barrell which is way better for getting those beachy waves...
Definitely use the smallest curling wand-I find that the bigger wand only gives a blow out
Great - thank you!
I swore I’d never get their dryer but… 😮
😂😂 did you get it??

Ooo I want one
Hahaha you can borrow it 😉
May I just say… FUCKING GORGEOUS!!!
Hahaha thank you 😊
I lie the way your hair looks with the Lange Duo
Me too! I haven't figured out how to get that with the Dyson but I'll keep trying. So far I'm liking it for everything else though 👍
