Wonderful presentation, Gary. You looked like you were really having fun even though you were working. I looked forward to seeing this video and thoroughly enjoyed it. So many amazing people working on recumbents. Really fun to watch!
It is long, Gary, but really worth the time. Many thanks to you and the team. If you promise to do it again next year, I could limit my presence to the brick yard beer garden and later just watch the show ...
That is high praise coming from you, Josef! I would hope that you would still attend Spezi next year my video or not😉It was wonderful to see you again.
Hello Gary, please put more emphasis on product visual. Have your cameraman walk around the bikes with you giving mechanical details description. Also, it would be extremely interesting to see the individual machines at work immediately after each description. I wish I could come over at Spezi one day...
Hi MultiChaga-Thanks for watching and for your suggestions. We specifically tried to get more close ups of the bikes this year. You have to understand that we do this during a very busy trade show. Our time with each exhibitor is limited and that does make this and seeing the bikes in action right afterwards somewhat of a problem. We'll try to do better 😊
Fantastic report Gary, I wanted to go to Gemersheim this year but unfortunately I could not get there. So your video helps me to enjoy this show waiting for the next edition!
The VARIBIKE model that has both hand and leg pedaling is perfect for a controlled cardiovascular work out. I see this as potentially one of the models that can catch on with the senior community in Florida. Getting in and back out of it remains problematic for individuals with balance and/or strength issues. Maintenance issues are unknown for such a new design as well. Stay tuned.
Thanks Gary! And just to make it clear: I am a big Fan of your show and follow each released Show with high attention. Please keep on doing it! Rgds: thies
Gary, I'm looking for a very good quality hand powered trike. Would be very good to also have the same bike feet powered. Could you make some recommendations?
Hi Dan-I don't know a great deal about this but as you might have noticed ICE Trikes showed a prototype hand cycle at Spezi this year. Not sure about where they are with this right now but it's worth you contacting them to find out. Good luck!
Thanks so much for watching! David at CJVF was asked for an interview but said they had nothing new to talk about. I don't know what you mean by DF and his Alpha 7...
Gary Solomon DF is Daniel Fenn, the creator of the DF (and Evo R,K,Ks...) and he was showing his last superlight velomobil (16Kg) but outside the Spezi. I know cycles Jv had plan for a carbon full suspended lemans but it was obviusly not ready. David was maybe busy with his wedding to come with the Katanga daughter!
Yes, I know about Daniel Fenn but didn't see him there. I did see both David and his fiancee Veronique and was excited to hear the details about their upcoming wedding.
Hello Gary, very good and informative video! However there is one issue that I personally find a little bit annoying: On presenting the Models You and your Interview-partner very often stand in Front of the Model so that one can hardly see anything of the object that is beeing presented. Just stand behind the Model and apply some mote close-ups when particular components are explained. Apparat from this: excellent Show! Greetings from Germany: Thies
Hi Thies and thanks for watching. This is a very legitimate criticism. As you might notice most of the time we are behind the model but sometimes in front. Usually this is when the interviewee wants to demonstrate something and feels that reaching around from the back won't work. In the future I'll try to work out a better plan.
Have you considered allowing patreon supporters also give a description in their native language & then translating it into english in the subtitles as an "add on" segment either at the end or as a separate UA-cam video? I enjoy it in english but feel they might not be able to explain as much as they'd like too due to limited language skills.
I'm Alive this is a real issue on my international event videos. I've have given it a great deal of thought. Not only are some interviews stunted because the person is not the best English speaker some interviews never happen at all because of this. I have had to pass by interesting exhibitors or individuals because they didn't feel confident enough to speak English on camera. I totally understand this but we both lose. Adding a section at the end of the video in the original language is an option but presents many problems as well. Among them is my inability to edit the clip due to my language limitations. I'll keep working on a solution and I thank you for your suggestion 😊
Gary, you're on a Spike? I searched 'Spikes' on YT and this vid came up. I'm getting my Spike 380 on Wednesday! Yay! "Tank" steering? Is that what he said? I like that description. That's direct, right? (I'm new...)
Hi Mary! How exciting is that? You will love your Trident. I don't recall the Spike having tank steering but I could be wrong. Tank steering means the handlebars are moved in opposite directions to steer. Direct steering means the handlebars are connected directly to the kingpins and indirect means they are attached with rods the the wheels. All are fine and just a matter of preference. Have fun!!
@@GarySolomon Thanks. I have no idea what to expect, but the Spike 380 compared quite favorably in all features with others in my purpose and price range. I've been riding a Funcycle, so I know I will love this.
Of course. Thomas Seide used a Wild One as a trampoline and was our first interview on Sunday. Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/UNDYarVVkFw/v-deo.htmlh11m35s
Bikes need to be fun but when bikes get to be $6,000 minimum then that took all the fun out of it . Even with bikes being above $400 it's not fun to the common rider .
Varibiken...that old idea again. It makes no sense as your leg muscles can easily use up all the oxygen and fuel your body can throw at them - there isn’t spare capacity to go into your arms. The inefficient drive train and extra weight robs power too...oh - you like a complete div while you are riding it too!
All wonderful models. Applausse for all exponents, and for this fantastic event organizators!!
Thank you all so much. Great show!
Glad you watched!
Wonderful presentation, Gary. You looked like you were really having fun even though you were working. I looked forward to seeing this video and thoroughly enjoyed it. So many amazing people working on recumbents. Really fun to watch!
The fun is why I do this and I always hope that comes through in my videos. Thanks for the very kind words and for watching 😊
Please next with German and/or Spanish subtittles.
Congtats for all this inventors, organizators and for this good video!!
Hi Cristian-Won't the CC (closed captioning) work for you on UA-cam? Those translations should be at least helpful.
That was fab Gary, thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching, John!

superb video showed such a diverse range of recumbent trikes and bikes
Thank you very much for those kind words 😊

That's means a lot to me Thies, thanks 😊
Thank You So Much
Thanks for watching, Ben 😊
Great report! Thanks!
Thanks, Saukki! That means a lot coming from you😊
Very nice report. Very sorry I missed the show. Wondering what happend to M5 though ...
Thank you, Captain! Don't know why M5 wasn't there but I would've liked to talk to them.
Guess I'll have to pay them a visit. I'm really interested in their Carbon High Racer model. And their 2-spoke rims :-)
The interview with the Brits was cool; nice cycling couple.
Also, would help if mentioning the bike maker and a website at the tail end of the interview.
Every vendor that we interview has their name and website linked in the video descriptions below the watch screen.
Thank you!
I'm still waiting for a competition back to back tandem velomobile.
Pod bike looks awesome--'futuristic
Trike$$$$---Have to start saving 😁
It was really cool sitting inside that Podbike. It felt very secure and futuristic 😊
Very interesting helpful, thanks!
I'm especially happy to hear you found this helpful, George. Thanks for watching!

Oh there is no interview with Lieba Velomobile. I saw the owner there in one of videos.
Yes, they were next to Intercity Bike. Sorry we missed them 😔

Молодцы!!
Спасибо за просмотр видео!
Too bad about blocking the featured bike by standing in front of it rather than behind it. I agree wholeheartedly with the comment by Thies Kardel.
Not sure which bike I was standing in front of but that is generally not a good practice for video. Thanks for pointing it out.

Must be probbed.. may be its more efficient. In all case its good for do a complete body gimnastic, during transport.
