Biloxi is my other home. Keesler was my first duty station and lived there for a while. I was there when Hurricane Katrina battered the coast. Even after leaving MS, every chance i get i still visit Biloxi because people are nice and greet you with southern hospitality.

I live in Mississippi, and yeah, there are some really bad things about it, but the state is beautiful, specifically the gulf coast, and the people are nice to you. The food is awesome, and there is something rather exotic about the southern parts of the United States that you just don't get in the north.

The "exotic" thing is kindness. I'm from the North and say most Northerners have forgotten what kindness is. Moving south within the year. We have a saying here in the north. People here are like the weather, cold, unpredictable and just plain mean.

That 10 story on the right at 5:30 use to be an apartment. We lived there on the 7th floor beach side before the Beau Rivage was started. Watched the Beau built and moved to a beach condo on Pitcher Point in Long Beach. A few years later Katrina ran us out of town...and took the condo out to sea. But...we are about to return!

+Ravyn Anastasia Guiliani This is where I lived every Summer growing up-- at the 2:30 mark is the Catholic Church--it looks like a giant shell and it is right next to Harrah's now! At 5:17 is the Oak Manor--the motel we stayed in every year, I learned to swim in their pool. At the 12:00 mark is Beauvoir Rd. just past Beauvoir-post-war home of the former President of the Confederate States of America, Jefferson Davis; and two blocks down is Holy Trinty Greek Orthodox Church. I miss it so much down there! I wonder if I will ever get to see it again? ua-cam.com/video/UNCYFFeWAdk/v-deo.html

The vehicle with the yellow Alaska license plate at 5:00 in the video, right?
Alaska to Biloxi, MS: 7K+ km, more than double the distance from Toronto or Montreal to Key West, FL which is less than 3K km.
On the east coast, so mostly Eastern Time Zone, extremely rare to see a vehicle with an AK license plate, as the matter of fact in some 25 years on the road in North America, that was the 2nd time I saw an AK license plate in front of me and that was in Toronto some 10 years ago maybe.
Obviously that's not the case on the Pacific Coast of Canada or USA, BC, WA, OR, California, I guess lots of AK license plates but I do not live in that area so cannot confirm it.
Now, to correct your comment, you cannot drive from Alaska to any other 48 states (State of Hawaii is a Pacific Island) w/o leaving USA, entering Canada (Yukon) then driving thru BC or AB, etc., and then reentering USA, therefore in order to reach Continental USA (48 states) coming from Alaska, you MUST leave USA and transit thru Canada until you reenter USA.
Same thing applies to the other way around, from any Continental USA state to Alaska, driving of course.
That's why Alaska is also called The Last Frontier (on the license plate as well).
Russia is closer to Alaska than Continental USA.
      Be safe.

+Chris RoadWarrior Hi Chris , thanks for the info on millage that's a long way to go but what a beautiful drive. I love driving to vacations just to see our great land. I did know that that Alaskans must leave the US go into Cda and then re-enter US (just had a brain fart when making my first comment) 😆 With your further info on only seeing Alaska plates so rarely, you reminded me Believe it or Not - I saw an Alaska plate in my area of the world about a month or so ago ??!! Wonder if we found the same traveller.
One last thought- you educated me on The Last Frontier. Did not know that is why it was called that. I always thought it was the last to be united. (Which I should have looked up for the proper info rather than presuming)
Safe travels and thanks for all these beautiful videos along with the great educated info.

THE SILENCE was eerie and every night I woke up in the five-hundred dollar a night hotel room at President Casino Broadwater Resort overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, one month after Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005, made me question my sanity, and now ten years later, I'm fixing to tell yall what really happened. Boots on the ground (maybe flip flops) eye-witness first-hand account. When people didn't check out thru the front desk Fire and Rescue had to kick the doors in because the electric locks weren't working. They had to verify no one is in there because the computer said they never checked out. Usually, two or three whacks with an ax and the could reach in an unlock them. Two or three on each floor. I found one on the top floor front and center, and like another twenty thousand vacant motel rooms: no human's allowed and even the birds were gone. No squirrels, bees, not a bug on the ground and it looked just like a bomb went off and this is what's left. Shit scattered everywhere. All I could think of was the novel I read when I was a kid by Robert Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land because absent any sign of life other than the gentle constant sway of ragged and torn small plastic shopping bags caught where the moss should have been hanging from the ancient Oak Trees, it was dead silence and totally creepy. Most folks would have been way too scared but I'd been living on the streets nearly all my life, and I kinda liked it. It was a lot like being in a real world Twilight Zone. #MarkAnthonyGiven #HomelessInHeaven #DopeSickAngel #AnotherHotGrand #SplitDeposit

Plus, I always go there on vacation with my parents. we almost moved there when I was little, but my mom didn't like the fact that there was a grave yard in the back, so we decided not to, but plan on moving out there in the future. I was there in 1996. I don't remember these views of it. When I was there, I remember there were 12, (most were luxurious), casinos almost side by side along a stretch of the coast line. The scenery was Magnificent to the eyes!
I remember thinking that those trees that lined the middle of the hwy look like pineapples on top!🤣🤣🤣 Somebody later told me that they were palm trees!
I'm from Greenville MS, but we were there for a few days, and we stayed at the Grand Casino Hotel in Biloxi. There was a restaurant in that casino called Sister's, and I've NEVER, EVER, EVER tasted turtle cheesecake anywhere else that can touch the turtle cheesecake at Sister's! The food at that place was second to none!!!
On our last day there, we ate at a restaurant inside the Grand Casino in Gulfport MS. I can't remember the name of the restaurant but it was situated over the water as if that wing of the restaurant was somehow encased with huge plate glass windows, suspended over the edge of the water, where you could look out and see the water beneath u! It was evening and the sun was setting and it was absolutely beautiful!!! I remember seeing the shrimp boats coming in on the shore. Somebody told me that you could actually buy the shrimp from those ppl fresh out of the water! Now my wonderous restaurants are gone!!! Does anyone remember this place and the name of that restaurant? If so, plz share????? I think it was called Hattie's...❓ Annie's... maybe??? I can't remember the name of the place for nothing!!!!!🤔❓❓❓
We went in thinking that since it was The Grand, that it would have a Sister's Restaurant too like the Grand in Biloxi, it didn't, but I remember the waitress telling us that that restaurant was their Sister's "equivalent".
I loved the ambiance and the look and feel of that restaurant and the food was wonderful too, but it was no Sister's "equivalent"! I don't think I'll ever allow another restaurant to take Sister's Restaurant's place in my heart! I LOOOOOVED being/eating there!
I'm 51 years old and I've eaten in a few fine restaurants over my lifetime, but of all of the great food that I've ever had in my life, there are only 2 restaurants on my list that reign Pristine and Supreme, and unrivaled by any other, (to me at least), and they are #1 Sister's Restaurant inside the Grand Casino in Biloxi MS, and #2 The Secret Garden Restaurant in Onalaska WI and they both no longer exists!!!!😮🤔😊 Go figure?
When I say FINE DINING! These 2 restaurants are the epitome of what a Fine Dining experience should be, and can rival ANY genre of world class fine dining/cuisine HANDS DOWN!!!!!!

Hi I have a question, my family and I are going down to Biloxi for our spring break, we have heard from other sources that the water is filthily down there, this really concerns us, can someone explain to me if it's safe to swim in the water?, if it's just a little brown in color it's fine with me (we swim in lakes all the time) but we're still very confused if anyone could clear it up that would be great.

+Chris RoadWarrior Maybe it was because of the highway drive, but it seemed very clean (i.e. no litter). I'm sure there are still Katrina-ravaged areas in the Biloxi area, but it seems like the local Public Works has done a good job in cleaning up the area.
I noticed a lot of big homes on the right side, which seem to offer great ocean views. Looks like a nice place to visit and/or live.

You can't swim in the water because of the flesh-eating bacteria(vibrio) levels caused by sewage run-off and by the crazy temperates in the water....
That doesn't include what's left over from the oil spill they didn't clean up....

Beautiful. They make this seem like a backwards state or place or too many blacks is the thing they like to say to stop people from going to MS, but nope, nothing indicates that here or any kind of bad stuff. I welcome the idea of living in the deep south. At least its quiet and not getting herds of people from all over. I like how this place looks a lot.

I Am from New Hampshire and considering moving down to Mississippi. I am conservative, extremely Christian and love the idea of southern hospitality. However it worries me when I hear former missisippians say things like “we aren’t backwards” but in the same sentence say “they try to stop people from coming to Mississippi by saying there’s to many blacks”... why would African Americans stop anyone from going to a place.. unless you have some underlying racist mindset? Idk I am a mixed girl and this makes me have serious doubts about moving down to mississippi.

Better than Jackson -- but that's not saying much. Jackson is the armpit of the south, which is the armpit of the USA.....
I'm always amused though by the people who live in the Jackson suburbs or in Hattiesburg. They're so convinced at how great their areas are -- but Lakeland Drive isn't all that great and Madison is basically a giant strip mall with expensive facades. As for Jackson itself -- it looks like one of those cities you see in pictures after WW2 where buildings are blown out from all the bombing. I took Greyhound thru Jackson a few yrs ago and saw downtown. The buildings looked like they were half demolished....

Its worse off now than before tothe storm.
Even if things have gotten better from the immediate aftermath of the hurricane many many people can still not find work. I've met several people who have told me they can't believe it when I tell them the average job around here pays 9 bucks an hour or less. You can make 2-3x as much doing basic jobs just by going 2 states over to Florida/Georgia/Texas.
It hasn't recovered and never will. Many of the people who moved in after the storm to take advantage of our desperation stayed and poached jobs or worse, went on welfare -- this artificially is driving rent and utility rates up and its causing it to be harder to find work. This is true from Mobile to Slidell.
In a few years I'm heading to Texas to try my luck there. I know QUITE A FEW PEOPLE who have moved there and they've done quite well. If you're looking to get out -- do so while you still can.

I live in Biloxi ms.I’m a target of organized community stalking here at the Lexington apartment homes,2620 le juene dr,39531-3740! The whole apartment staff,Kessler Air Force base personnel, casino, McDonald’s,city, ems, firefighters and even an 80 something year old white lady that drive a van for the beau rivage casino (her silver metallic older model pt cruiser’s says “lol now”,quite ironic).
Att techs hacked our WiFi and gave it to other residents in the building, apts 9307,9305,9303,9205,9206,9207 and others also! Twice I’ve paid to change the IP address and att reconnected the stalkers to it! Here is what Law enforcement does in Biloxi!
    - pay hackers to invade our privacy inside of our own home.
    - paid drug dealer to vandalized and destroy my car and cameras.
    - steal,redirect,temper with our mail!
    - paid drug dealer and maintenance staff to break in our apartment and gas light us!
    - pay residents with free rent, section 8s,gift cards to:
    - attack us with ultra sonic
    - hack our communications
    - vandalize property
    - cause constant noise campaigns
    - leave car with cameras (after they vandalized the ones on mine)in the hope to catch me retaliating on order to arrest me.
    - pay low lives to follow me around 24/7
    - defame,slander,false investigations,tell shop keepers that I’m under investigation as a murderer,terrorist,violent,crazy!
    - black listed with potential employers!
    - tell businesses to provide bad services!
    - payd sprint and T-Mobile to hack my phones!
    - payd dr Theresa jones of Gulfport to illegally implant a chip in my gum without my knowledge nor consent, three weeks later started trembling constantly!
This is what Biloxi,Jackson county and d’iberville police have done to me so far! And also attempted to intimidate me by following me around, didn’t work! I’m no criminal they and their low life inbred stalkers are! This red necks and their house boys are running amok here and it’s all done for money! Rich people are paying them to add people’s names to the terror list and they are doing exactly that! Then they get more grants from the fusion centers on top of that,it’s a sick business that the inbred trump, infragard and the evangelicals are running throughout of the whole world now! I was stalked in another country also! If you live in Biloxi stay away from the Lexington apartment homes specially buildings 8 and 9! Filled with inbred low lives working for the organized community stalking program! A bunch of low lives, and the police are the ones hiring and paying them!
