The precise etymology of "as all get out" is not known. The first known complete appearance of it in the modern form, in print, is in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which is noted for using more colloquial language than was common in most print sources in that era. There was an earlier form, "as get-out", and so we can guess with a reasonable degree of likelihood that the "all" was probably added purely to make the expression more emphatic, which is a common pattern (compare "as hell" vs "as all hell", see also "till all the cows come home", "do all the things", etc.), but that does not explain how "as get out" came to mean what it does. There are some conjectures about how that *might* have happened, but no actual evidence to help us decide between them as far as I can see.

I think sometimes he overplays his Englishness. The one in his thumbnail "I plead the Fifth" is well understood over here from films. It's not a term we'd use here because the "5th Amendment" is a US thing.
1 It's the same as back seat driver. "You didn't want to do that, I'd do it this way"

He has been away for years at this point. Maybe when he was growing up it wasn't wildly understood, at least not in his area.

All get out. No clue. It was a 90s thing. I took too much x in that decade.
