I got my Rival V2 just last friday and by help of this video I’m very happy to gain even more driving fun out of it❗️ Thsnk you 👍🏼 and greetings from germany 👋🏼
Thanks. Just trying to provide some interesting content. BTW, I forgot that it was your truck that also broke an arm and thought it was JayTee that broke an arm, but he doesn't launch it as high!
Great man ... I'll give it a go. My MT10 can be a bit touchy to stop. It does great front flops as it scrapes the body and then rights itself. I call it the asphalt front flip. lol Thanks for sharing this is very helpful. 🏆🏆
I used to want a team associated really bad... but knowing that they lock you out of available features, and they actually took the time to dumb it down?🤔 Thanks for the video, it helped a lot:)
It's just a glitch with this ESC. You can always change the stock electronics. I run a Castle Sidewinder 4 ESC in my MT10. It's fully adjustable through your PC or the programming card.
Thanks man i really appreciate it solved the problem haha i hit the brakes when i first got it and it flipped like 3 times thats how sensitive they were 😂
I thought this, then I realised the way he's calibrated it: Throttle dual-rate has been adjusted so it's "out of 4". So having it set at 4 is effectively 4/4, so full throttle. Braking dual-rate has been adjusted so it's "out of 7". So having it limited at 4 (by having the dual-rate on the controller set at 4), means that it's effectively 4/7, or a little over half-brakes. If I'm understanding correctly. My question is, does this also affect the reversing speed?
So after doing this process, you then drive the car with the arrow pointing to 4 instead of max? So it will go flat out but only 50% brakes with the arrow on 4?
Awesome information. I'm sure this will work on the Arrma ESC's in my cars. Can't wait to try this out and stop the awkward landings and even front flips under strong braking. Might not go to 4 but will test around 5 maybe as you need a good amount of brake for the 6s cars. Thanks for this well explained tip!
cool, I think the Arrma ESCs are programmable using the Hobbywing LED card, so you can buy that and set your brakes in the ESC the proper way. This is more of a hack/workaround if the programming cards don't work.
So you still get full throttle at 4? And would the setting of an aftermarket controller solve this problem? I have a radiolink controller that has brake adjustment.
Just followed your hack and was running great but after about 15 minutes on 3s lost control at long range. Not sure what’s wrong will re charge and have another go tomorrow .
hey dude great video, worked perfect thanks, im having trouble where this esc lipo cuts off my batteries with about 50% charge left, any ideas on a hack to lower the cutoff voltage. thanks
Am looking at buying one of these or the Arrma vorteks . Been put off the vorteks because few folk said not very stable and easily tip compared to this that is solid and stays upright when turning . What do you think ?
What happens when you set this up as per the video then need to 'throttle down' the buggy to say two (half four) so your child can use it but not at full throttle, does it back the brake off as well?
This looks like it will solve my "flip'o'sarous" out. Pretty weak torque low down on these though, so wondering how bad it will be trying to reverse out of something. Although I probably won't end up flipping into the rough with this hack 😂
just to clarify at the end, does this mean that by limiting the brakes, we also have to have limited throttle because the dual rate can't go above where it was set when we're differentiating the throttle/brake values during this process? I couldn't do all this and then set the dual rate back to max and go full speed with the lessened brakes, because that would be like setting the brakes back to 100% and the throttle to 150%?
Thinking about it, Associated brought this truck back out from Helion and made it worse. Arms are breaking and now this. The Helion you could adjust the Drag brake force and the maximum brake force of the ESC. Looks like they took a good thing and made it worse unfortunately.
@@RazorRC I bought the Helion at the end of it's life for 200. Bought 1 then liked it so much bought 2 more. Then it was so durable sold 1. I still have 1 unused sitting on the shelf.
Ran it yesterday broke the axial wheel drive shaft again. 2nd one in a year not bad. I fabricate the Traxxas slash to fit and seem to hold up, ran a battery through it again today.
Hey razor I did what you said in the video but when I do what you say when I hit forward it goes reverse when I hit reverse it goes forward help please anyone
Do you lose throttle trigger range / modulation when you do this...meaning is full throttle now half way through the trigger pull? I'd like to very much try this out but modulating the throttle on my brushless Pro2 SC10 is already hard enough I don't want to make that any more difficult if the throttle sensitivity is changed via this.
no problems, modulation will be exactly how you think it should be. Btw, the radio is pretty poor on modulation in general, it's part of what makes the Pro2 so hard to drive.
Found my answer in an older comment . If you go less the 50% u loose reverse . I set dr throttle at 4 and lost reverse but breaking was better I try a higher DR until I get reverse working again
Do u have any recommended websites to buy lal the mechanical parts for rc cars? Planning on a really big project but don't know where to get good quality parts from as I'm new to the rc car side of stuff
i dont understand these ESC AMP ratings 12AWG wire wiich is biger than what you ESC is Equipped with only supports 20-30 amps depending on insulation some esc claim to be 120 amps or higher 100 amp wire is as big around as my pinky and i do not have small hands these amp ratings are BS. i love RC but im an electrician an i just dont get it.
How to add better brakes to the mt10, throw that radio in the trash (where it belongs) and get a radio with the brake switch on it. I upgraded to a DX3 and I get much better response (throttle, steer and brakes) and a brake adjustment directly on the remote. That xp120 remote is very cheaply made, mine went out in a week after unboxing the truck.
Also if you set full brake and full throttle to the same direction on the remote does half the motor turn one way and the other half the opposite way causing the motor to rip itself in half. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I got my Rival V2 just last friday and by help of this video I’m very happy to gain even more driving fun out of it❗️ Thsnk you 👍🏼 and greetings from germany 👋🏼
Just done mine, and what a difference it has made. Thanks for the intell👍
Fantastic tip... was trying to figure out how to reduce the brake on my pro sc10 with the same esc.
This makes the truck drivable!
Hey mate, we just linked to this video from out last video on the MT10. Alan is very grateful for this video. Thank you for creating it!
Did you end up losing any of the method wheel caps on your MT10 V2. Took mine out for frist time today and lost 2 already lol
@@chrisvda7277 we did actually, Alan now has zero caps lol
BRILLIANT! I had a feeling this was it when you mentioned a hack previously. I copped out and threw a programmable ESC in😁 Great info👍👍

Amazing video great explanation!
if 4 is full throttle what happens if you go higher on the notch once its set?
Exactly
What does he mean with don’t mess with it afterwards!?
Whsts the point when adjusting the breaks and than can’t go up to max 7 full throttle!?
@RazorRC pleas help 🫡
I thought this, then I realised the way he's calibrated it:

If I'm understanding correctly.

It works! And even set to 4 the brakes are strong!
Awesome my friend, this truck needs this hack for sure
So after doing this process, you then drive the car with the arrow pointing to 4 instead of max? So it will go flat out but only 50% brakes with the arrow on 4?
Good info. Never heard anyone doing this. I will try this for sure. Thanks
Thanks, I'll try this with my DB10. Good trick!
Yes Razor, now a running video of stock best and this setting 😎 let's see what happened
I took some footage, but it didn't come out very good, so you'll just have to use your imagination. 👍
Nice little tweak!
Awesome thank you for your time
awsome idea budy ! can i do the french and german version with the link to you'r channel ? :)

If you set it to one the program it to go full speed, does that mean if you then set it to 70 afterwards it will be 7x faster 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
it worked for Spinal Tap, so why not?

I wouldn’t recommend it because if you drain the Lithium batteries too low then they will no longer charge
Awesome! Very informative! Thank you!
You're welcome 😊
Good way of doing it
Hi could you tell me if this would work on the DR10
Am looking at buying one of these or the Arrma vorteks . Been put off the vorteks because few folk said not very stable and easily tip compared to this that is solid and stays upright when turning .
What do you think ?
I think they have no idea what they're talking about.
They recently came out with the MT10 V2. It looks badass.
What happens when you set this up as per the video then need to 'throttle down' the buggy to say two (half four) so your child can use it but not at full throttle, does it back the brake off as well?
Thanks dude !!!
Does this work if you replace the Transmitter/Receiver for say a GT5?
DR is to do with how much it steers no?
Im easily confused.
After doing this will you still be able to slow it down with the knob , say for young kids
Cool info. Thanks man
awesome hack,great video

to cool I like it.
My radio is working in opposite. Is this normal?
impressed!
Can this be done with the dumbo rc controller?
Hey Razor, followed the steps In the video and I lost reverse Any ideas?
Garth Vader did you lower brakes below 50%? I forgot about that, I think if you go too low the ESC won’t go in reverse. Try a higher number.
@@RazorRC I used the same settings as per the video, will try again in the morning. Cheers for the advice.
Thks saved my butt, thanks:)
Thank you!!

Or did you just mean don't mess with it again until the process is completely done?
Cool ,Thanks
Great tip 👍
if you break the Arms try these made from RPM : www.rpmrcproducts.com/shop/a-arms/rear-a-arms/rear-a-arms-for-the-associated-rival-mt10/
That ESC IS programmable. Its a re-branded Hobbywing ESC. Just use a Hobbywing programmer.
it's not programmable, Reedy locked it out for some reason.
Will this hack work if I used my dumborc controller ?
yes, it should
Thinking about it, Associated brought this truck back out from Helion and made it worse. Arms are breaking and now this. The Helion you could adjust the Drag brake force and the maximum brake force of the ESC. Looks like they took a good thing and made it worse unfortunately.
that does suck, though I think the Helion was originally $400? I asked Associated about the arms, but they haven't responded to me yet.

Hi bro, can i do the same techniques to wp1040 brushed esc?
Please let me know
I’m pretty sure that you have to program every esc, so yes, as long as you can adjust your throttle rate I see no reason why it should not work
Nice hack bro!
STEVO D 313 thanks, hope things are well!
Hi could you help I turned my car off without turning the transmitter off then turn the car back on and all's I get is steering no throttle or reverse
Are all of your electronics plugged in? If so, maybe it’s a bad battery.
Hey razor I did what you said in the video but when I do what you say when I hit forward it goes reverse when I hit reverse it goes forward help please anyone
You probably have one of your motor wires plugged in wrong. Switch two of them.

Do u have any recommended websites to buy lal the mechanical parts for rc cars? Planning on a really big project but don't know where to get good quality parts from as I'm new to the rc car side of stuff
I like amain.com if you live in the U.S., and eurorc.com if you live in Europe.
@@RazorRC thanks
Is this applicable in HSP Tx/Rx?
It will work with any radio with throttle dual-rate (DR)
Just program it with a Hobbywing Program card...less confusion
the Reedy branded ESC's are locked out. You can't program them.
Super like 😀👍
