On the eve of the anniversary of his murder, Rolan's parents have been speaking exclusively to the News about their son and their fight for justice - and, in a week where the whole issue of policing has been in the spotlight, why they say now is not the time to give police more powers.

Rolan was NOT a trouble maker or a rude Boy. To Kill him on the A Bridge was a weak and cowardice move from the Killer. I won't mention names. But Rolan had NOTHING to do with the AW vs TM turf wars. Thats what they were. Not a race thing. If it was a race thing they would of got on the bus and gone to Woolwich where the ''Woolwich Mafia'' hang out outside the Equitable. But they never went there did they?? Only to get their shopping. But Rolan ... He was an innocent young lad. And a lovely young lad too. I taught him Drama for a few lessons at Abbey Wood School. Was a good kid from a good Family. Hope you still resting easy Rolan.

Grew up there during the 90's, was always a sh*thole and full of crime, but you don't realise these things when you're young. Ironically though, these days, the area has a huge black/African population and still suffers the same issues with gangs/drugs/petty crime and murder.

It still has a fearsome reputation except the white gangs have been replaced by blacks.
