  • In Episode 348 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with Kamran Bokhari. Kamran is the Senior Director of the Eurasian Security & Prosperity Portfolio at the New Lines Institute for Strategy & Policy. He has served at the U.S. State Department and as a Senior Consultant with the World Bank.
Kamran came on the podcast three months ago to discuss the violence ignited by Hamas’ October 7th attacks against Israel and the nature and scope of Iran’s involvement. Demetri asked him back on to re-examine how the war in Gaza is going and whether he still thinks that we could be headed for another major war in the Middle East.
They spent the first hour discussing Israel’s bombardment and offensive in Gaza, the strategic objectives of Israel’s leaders, and whether they’re achieving those objectives. They also discuss Netanyahu’s political future and that of his governing coalition, the future of Israeli politics, and whether any hope remains for a negotiated peace process that could lead to a viable and independent Palestinian state.
In the second hour, they broaden their focus to encompass the larger Middle East, including Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the Houthis, and Hezbollah. They discuss how all of these different actors are repositioning themselves by exploiting the growing disorder for their own advantage as the Biden administration struggles to stabilize a region that may be on the verge of another major war.

Glad the intro music is back. Sounds like Big Trouble in Little China soundtrack. Thank you.

This was a very rich discussion. He defiantly has a clear point of view when it comes to Iran. I'd love to hear his thought on India as well and if he thinks there is an underlying affinity between India and Iran due to the historical relationships going back to the Indo-Persian cultural lineage

Somewhat biased podcast. I'd expect you to bring also someone from the israeli side to present his point of view.
    1. Israel has said it will take a long time, could be a year.
    2. The israelis say the Azaties will not go back to there homes, as the hostages captured by Hammas do not go to thier homes
    3. Hostages were denied any visit by the red cross
As in all previous wars starting from 1948, israel is attacked, israel retaliates and fights back, israel wins, the arabs loose(land, people, resources), the arabs whine over there loses, the progressive global community aids the arabs.
Israel left all the Gaza strip in 2005, they had democratic elections their, the choose Hammas over the Fatah, the Hammas new regime butchered all there Fatah rivals to get total control.
They chose Hammas in open elections, and they have to bare the consequences of their choices.
As long as US and UN and EU take the Palestinean side, they prolong the suffering of both sides, and the lack solution. When the Palestineans will know no one comes to their aid, and they will not be rescued by no external force, they will get better decisions, and we can advance towards some solution.

By 6 minutes in I lost the ability to listen with all the whining and tear jerking about the Palestinians. When someone tries to coerce me like that you are trying to attack me using my pity. I just imagine a cartoon character crying comical amount of tears blubbering about genocide.
Those civilians will support the enemy. The little babies he is whining about will grow up to become soldiers. The women birth them. The old are their spirtual leaders. And why the hell as an American should I not support this? What the hell have they ever done for us apart from pray for our death?

This guy talks about Biden like he actually thinks about these things and is cognitive. What a joke, guy lost all credibility!
