I lost a family member and didn't smile for 6 months, then I finally found LCK. He has a sharper version of this joke in one of his specials and it's outstanding, first time I laughed in half a year.
Newish comic here and I’ve gotta say Louis ck is one of my biggest comedy role models. Genius writer and he’s influenced some of my material I’ve been working on.
The reason why the audience seems so quiet is because I'm pretty sure the camera crew didn't use ambient microphones or if they did they were turned way too low because you can hear the audience cracking up if you listen closely and he pauses for too long for people not to be laughing. I think the only microphone that is picking them up is the one he's holding.
I have heard this sketch for maybe ten times already and everytime I laugh out loud. It's just the way he brings it that makes me crack up every time. Genius.
We saw his Jan.4th show at Sac. Punchline and OMG! he is even more hysterical live than you can imagine! He did some new material that was killer funny as well. Highly recommended!!
Louis, how much did you like Billy Crystals black jazz musician act just before your set? That guy is hilarious and did a great job at pumping up the audience with laughs
I just saw one of his stand-up specials a couple weeks ago, I'd never really heard of him before that. He's so fucking hilarious and very original! I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard! I'm definitely a fan now! :)
You can't 1) tell how good or bad an audience is in these types of gala-style shows because 2) the audio isn't mixed the same way it is for a stand up's comedy special and 3) you can't expect a fervent response from an audience that's seeing something new every seven minutes.
people on youtube seem to care so much if the audience is laughing or not. its literally on every video of louis with a quiet audience microphone. Focus on laughing for yourself instead of others.
1) These types of shows are normally not produced well for TV, so the stage/ambient audience balance can give you the impression of a dead room. You know that bit of an Emmys show where they give an award to the guy who directed the Oscars or the Emmys? Those guys don't usually direct benefits. And 2) benefit audiences are not great. None of the stand up performers or musicians have time to get into a nice rhythm, it's like a showcase sampler.
anyone have the link for louis ck's bit about harlem? he says something like "welcome to harlem" and stab someone in the face lol something like that. it was on youtube, but i cant find it now
Louis CK, You probably will never read this... You _are_ fantastic!! You have fans still. Loyal & dedicated, even here online. You've never been charged with _ANYTHING!_ We have _NEVER_ heard your side of the story. The isn't fair OR right. In a court of law you would have your say. Your side of what happened. This is has been, _So fucking shitty for you. So sorry you have to go through it all & still are_ 🤗🌷
Comedians do that. They're called "routines". Being a comedian and coming up with new jokes for every recorded show isn't exactly easy. Heck, being a comedian for only one show, period, isn't easy.
I saw Louis one time and my friend asked me why I wasn't laughing. I was actually laughing so hard I couldn't breathe!
Same

Kind of the same happened to me after a bad break up. A true therapy.
You can call that LUCK
Robin Williams's laugh at the end, LOL. Unmistakable

Stoned Yee as should all comics. He digs deeepp ( not this particular bit) but his material is on a whole new level
You’ll never make it!
Keep working and keep studying… Lenny Bruce , George Carlin, bill hicks, Richard Pryor, bill Cosby, Sam kinison, bill burr
How it's that going? 3 years you must be doing bars now

The same thing happens with TED talks. I think they do have room mics, they're just too quiet.
I have heard this sketch for maybe ten times already and everytime I laugh out loud. It's just the way he brings it that makes me crack up every time. Genius.
Never gets old. I've heard this joke about five times.
One of Louie's best opening bits. I love this one.
I'm so happy to come (no pun intended) across this video again after so many years. Lmao.
Good god I love this guy, my all time favorite comedian.
Life with Louie was one of the best shows on HBO. Bring it back!

He’s brilliant

I first saw Louis on Conan where he would kill every time. You're one of my favorite comics.
Louis, how much did you like Billy Crystals black jazz musician act just before your set? That guy is hilarious and did a great job at pumping up the audience with laughs

totally awesome, I got a cramp in my stomach now
amazing.
That was a tough audience
they were sucking bags of dicks
Think it's just the audio or mic sensitivity or something
Yeah maybe the show didnt have microphones for the audience, I dunno
I’d love to whoopie introduce CK for this skit in 2024 😂
Love that part
good god, i love this guy!

I love louis' trademark "well, I cut him off because, I'm in a hurry, and, he's not me, so I don't give a shit about him, so..."

You sir, are a god among men.
Oh dang, i wanted to know what Robin Williams had to say about that.
I dig the imagery.
both are completely different and funny too.
you rule man
Is the Comic Relief special normally dirty?
that was a very nice story.......
3:48 left corner:
"I'm gettin' real sick of your shit, Louis."
lol I noticed that too
I would pay good money to be able to see Robin's reactions to Louis CK's jokes.
Yeah, I noticed that too... She rolled her eyes
Who's the second one :)?
@ther3volver how?
Well that was a lot better than the black and white movie
+Joe Piervincenti did you buy it?
+Dionys84 it's been some time since I made that comment I'm not even sure what we're talking about

+Dionys84 no, I didn't buy anything
Good job, this is the internet
word.
I was getting frustrated, "APPRECIATE THIS MAN NOW!"

Hes a genius.

LMFAO!!
"Fuck it, I'm getting one more before I call the police, one more time thats all..."
AHAHAHHAHAHA amazing
In his newest stand up he says that he and his wife are now divorced. So I guess that goes your first statement lol :S
I consider Louis C.K. the top guy.
Excellent...probably the best set of the event. Of course, Sarah Silverman aside, the other comics were shit. Keep posting your oeuvre, Mr. Szekely!
sounds like youve been with loads mate judging by your train videos

Louis CK fucken tore it up.
This guy is beyond a Pro!!!! To those that know understand!!!! Put Relish on it!
