XLNT speaker! I could listen to him all day! - very orderly and disciplined presentation of facts lining up with the Biblical accounts. Very entertaining and enjoyable! I have loved Biblical archaeology since my teens when I first read James Michener's "The Source" - it pales in comparison with the real thing - but it was a start!
I will have to get Yosef Garfinkel's book "in the footsteps of King David". Much better!
The theological library looks very beautiful - a holy place, too, I feel.
I think it would be great to hear Eilat Mazar in person! I've seen her on UA-cam but it was recorded some years ago. It's wonderful that so many evidences for the Biblical historical accounts are being discovered - in our lifetime! What a blessing!
Thanks so much to Mark and all the associates and helpers!
Shalom to you all from Australia :)

I can only find one excavation that Garfinkel has done that is associated with the David of the OT. His publication of his results from that dig haven't been received well by academics who are a great deal more specialised in this field. He seems to have published mainly on neolithic and bronze age material.

Did u take issue with something specifically asserted in this lecture… or just generally casting shade on the speaker via unnamed experts and their unspecified criticism?

He very well explains why the "heroes" in academics ranging from Dawkins, to Hawking to Finkelstein should not be trusted, nor, especially, lionized.

I did not hear Garfinkel mention Dawkins or Hawking. Did I miss something?

The Tel Dan inscription is not proof that David existed. It was not contemporary with him and did not give a first hand account of him. This is one example that Garfinkel is trying to prove a point, not actual history.

Asking genuinely, what kind of archeological proof can you accept? Could you list some ideas, please?

Yes but we have other proof that canot be denied even outside Israel. The House of David inscription being one of the proofs. Also, Assyrian kings have also provided evidence of David

Higher Bible criticism = Higher Anti-Judaism?

Leftist Ashkenazi, very secular Jews have their own unique religion. Their god is their personal popularity amongst as many reprobates as they can possibly be adored by in a more and more degenerate Western world. Their search for a new religion began in the viciously anti-Jew atmosphere of Catholic and Lutheran Europe for 1000 years. Generation after Generation of pogroms and virtual attempts at genocide took their wear and tear. In the 19th Century they rebelled against the G'd of Israel and they sought out the Original new popularity god in Marxism, but since Bolshevism and Communism proved to be miserable failures in the area of providing prosperity, these Leftist Jews who were either haters of G-d or completely ambivalent to Him because of the constant drumbeat of continuous suffering, they settled for just being popular by as many fellow Western Leftists as possible. The Popularity god is a sweet drug. It keeps these leftists in perpetual high school where Popularity is the only god around. It helps them sleep well at night and mock people like Eilat Mazar, Adam Zertal, and Yossi Garfinkel.
I grew up with them in S. Louis. So I know them intimately and how they tick. I was not exposed to Orthodox Judaism until I was 18 yrs old. Thank G-d I found a way out of their world. Being immersed in their Popularity infatuated culture scarred me for life.
