This should be an Olympic event. Incredible skill and guts are needed. But getting enough people from enough countries with this kind of brave talent will probably be a challenge. Maybe not. But it's thrilling to watch.
TheTechFools hahah yeah the adrenaline helps alot! but the pain is there and very real haha it actually sucks because we camped out for a night right next to the hill, but only skated it 4 times (just the top 10km, its probably like a 40km total length) twice at sunset, and twice at sunrise during which we filmed this.
Very impressive skills. I am skeptical in case of crash, you seem not to be really protected. Anyway...!!! I recognise the road, this is the north road from Cime de la Bonnette, going down to Jausiers. Closest "big city" is Barcelonnette". I've been there twice, and I can assure you this is a place you definitely shoud go. La cime de la Bonnette is the highest road in Europe, and the Barcelonnette area is full of renown Cols where the Tour de France passes on a regular basis (Cols de Vars, Col de la Cayolle etc...) From the top of la Cime de la Bonnette, the mediterranean sea is a 2 hours drive.
Wow that's cool I'm sure there is probably a good reason why this can't be an Olympic sport has to be something else to it maybe because it's so awesome but so is martial arts just something about longboarding downhill at top speeds stopped the Olympics from letting it happen
+DiskUtility You've cat to be kitten me, ryt meow. This video is purrfect. But if he fell, it would of been a catastrophy. Had me cluching my claws the entire time.
Since this video was released, I was 15 years old! Today, at 23 years old, I continue to watch him simply because of the badass energy he has! Detail, I'm Brazilian Sao Luis Maranhão
I'm a 40 years+ guy. For what ever reason, I don't see the dangers here, I just see skills. I know my age bracket tends to shun this type of behavior, but hell, this vid is cool. Great song choice too. Talk about inspiration: Just picked up a sector 9 sentinel. I wont be doing any of this stuff, but the short slopes at my local park will do just fine. should be fun. Again, great video guys, thanks for posting.
I am learning with longboard at the moment, but one day, no matter how many injures or new desks, I will reach this skill. This video shows how to satisfy your life with speed and freedom at it's finest!
If you're regular stance its your right hand turns, if you're goofy stance its your left hand turns. Basically when you're leaning on your toes to slide.
Watching videos like this actually inspired me to longboard. I love the feeling of the ride, but there aren't a lot of empty rodes for me to ride on where I am from.
Beautiful video nice cinematography and great skills I don't have a long board yet but I plan to get one in the future but I don't know if I would have the balls to do what you do in a long time
+GT DOWNHILL MEDIA Thats a dope setup. Can you give me your opinion on my downhill setup and what I should change. Sector 9 Mini Daisy Louis Pilloni Pro Reverse Trucks Sector 9 70mm Race Formula. This isn't a super extreme going 60 mph board. The highest ive hit is like 45 mph.
it would be awesome if those roads had camber built into them... designing a mega snake run that was a couple miles long would also be extremely fun...
Holy shit im about to move to Colorado to start downhill long boarding Ive never been this happy I look forward to meeting all the skaters and hope you guys smoke Mary Jane lol I love life right now
How do you guys think I'd do in longboard sliding and stuff (maybe even downhill) if I'm fairly experienced snowboarder? I also have a freestyle longboard that I do some tricks on.
What kind of wheels are you using? I have sector 9 race formula, but I noticed you sliding some of those turns. Do you recommend different wheels so I don't tear up mine attempting those kind of slides?
Jun Hyun Park Pedo Bear actually, no. Ideally, the bushings never have to be tightened down more than just having them be pretensioned (under just enough pressure so there isnt any rattling, or slop). Then, depending on how "tight" you want your trucks to feel you can change the shape and duro of your bushings, and experiment with flat/cupped washers etc. Personally, i ride 90a Riptide barrels all around. Pretensioned, they offer me enough stability to go up to 55-60mph comfortably, and have enough turn to be able to freeride and carve smaller, slower hills without having to change anything about my bushing setup. It takes some time with experimenting, but once you find what works for you, there will be no need to change it out anymore Also, true stability at speed comes more from the balance of the rider, than of the tightness of the trucks. slowly going faster and faster as you get used to it is the best way to get the hang of it.
Pedo Bear i just started longboarding last year and i thought Tightening down bushings all the way was going to do the problem, Make sure you have harder bushings so you dont have to tighten down the bolt on the trucks to much for example i run 94a board side / 87 Roadside it feels awesome and i can hit about 40 On my board with it. My set up is a 2013 Landyatchz Wolfshark With 2nd Version Caliber 44's 94a BS / 87a RS, 72mm 78a Sector9 Race formula wheels with bones swiss bearings. its a great set up But any set up can be good just gotta test until you feel comfortable with what you like
It's good to know how to overpower speed wobbles. You should be fine with stock bushings. In-case you didn't already know if you start getting speed wobbles put more pressure on your toes especially your front foot and that will strengthen your ankles and help with speed wobbles. Tucking helps too but some people are more comfortable ridding stand up.
dudes you all forget one thing, your truck baseplate. you need to have your back trucks baseplate at a lower angle than your from truck this way you eliminate the speed wobbles
I've not found an indication where exactly the road is. Where does it start and end? Would be more interesting than mentionning which wheels are used. I have wheels but I don't have this road! :-)
I need help with my longboarding - Im getting a new longboard soon because my regular longboard (Sector 9 Riptide) has alot of speed wobbles, so I'm thinking that either I should get thicker bushings or get a new board (because my regular board is a cruiser when I thought it was a downhill board)
Got a Question: Soft bushing tighten up enough to be pretensioned (avoiding wobbles) but soft enough so when you put pressure they carve, or hard bushings and gently tighten up? Thanks!
Are there different types of longboards? like one with which you can do tricks and one where you mostly cruise with, and what would be the best type for a beginner?
Yes it give special longboards downhill cruising dancing etc. I think for a beginner it's best a jucker hawaii new hoku...:) And soory for my bad enlish :D
Idk about beginner's , mine was a sector 9, but I can tell u right now I ride a duster and it rides beautiful and slides really good... Hopefully that helps!
I just got a pin tail long board yesterday and I was just wondering how long it takes just to get comfortable with the board and be able to do simple tasks like riding down the street?
does anyone know how they film this? my guesses are either a car or someone sitting on a board following him... but i feel like both of those would make a shaky video
I have been watching this video over and over again for 6 years! And it is still really sick!
Same here
6 minutes and 39 seconds of pure freedom.
Donnie Darko beautiful freedom
This should be an Olympic event. Incredible skill and guts are needed. But getting enough people from enough countries with this kind of brave talent will probably be a challenge. Maybe not. But it's thrilling to watch.
I agree
Its a relatively new sport and quickly growing
I'm to young now but in ten years this will be me!
Getting this many people, pffft within the first week they'd get at least 200 applications already
Matthew Morgan your never too young to do dh longboarding, or any adrenaline sport
I have watched this video all the time when I was 13 and randomly remembered it now 6 years later. The nostalgia is real.
Still my all-time favorite long boarding video; very smooth slides, awesome editing, and perfect music!
Check out chrunchie's 'Fast and sketchy' video or his '91 kmph from the top' top video with Troy Pemberton
I can really appreciate the beauty of the ride
Where does one find a beautiful smooth road with no big cracks and potholes
ikrrrrr
Bridgette Hall French Alps obviously ;)
Bridgette Hall i know!!! freakin sucks lol
Bridgette Hall french alps I take 1 hour to go at the place
+Bridgette Hall The austrian alps have some pretty sweet spots. Sadly it's illegal to longboard on the road here so I can't really share specifics.
fuckin' good soundtrack mate
*m8
I hated it
+Peter Price how dude?
+Luke Tang The sound track here was alot better than some of the other over used or just plain awful stuff out there eh.
+Luke Tang I hate you.
STOP STALKING ME
Downhill longboarders are the most underrated heroes in the world, such courage, precision, focus and talent.
My legs get tired after a couple runs on my hill in Michigan, imagine this guys leg pains.
Yeah but the adrenaline makes him unaware basically.

Me and all my cousins bought longboard's over a summer onetime. Was not disappointed. Best money ever spent.
This is by far my favorite downhill longboard video
haha this is like extreme snowboarding on land! awesome video! :D

I was thinking the same! someone mod longboards into skyrim!
antsolja or in Fallout? longboarding in post apocalyptia...
The Surreal Vapist Mutant longboarding race?! lol would be nice!!!
Yeah but I don't know if the physics would support racing.
The Surreal Vapist waiting for fallout 4, hope it will released this year or in the next...and then it ll come
this guy is super good at toesides....
Not only, lol
+TimeForDianne shut up
yan junbang I'm kinda new to the downhill longboarding stuff so I don't know what a toe side is. Can u explain it plz?
If you're regular stance its your right hand turns, if you're goofy stance its your left hand turns. Basically when you're leaning on your toes to slide.
Coleman slides too fuck
Sick footage awesome video wow this place really is paradise !!
Also a huge Thumbs up for the camera-person!
Yeah, i saw at the end.
Still, he didnt run the guy down lol
And kept him in frame
More like camera car

I can do that with a beer in both hands.
I probably would die but... I could do this :D
Im Not a Beer holder😐
Timothy Levi not a good idea to do this while intoxicated
r u okay bro? i'm worried as it a year passed already and no news from you
This inspires me to ride my longboard to this day purely because of the music used at the start
Love this video!! And I also love that I don't have to guess your setup because it's in the description.
This inspired me to buy a longboard and learn to ride thank you!!!!!!!!!
Loved the music man🔊🔊
This is my favourite long boarding video, and it's my life goal to longboard that run!

how can people dislike this? this is freaking awesome
how does he not get friction on his hands ? what gloves does he use?
the gloves have Velcro into which you stick a replaceable "puck" which is made of a very low friction plastic.
太酷了, so nice
You skated so smoothly you are pro! bty whats the name of the song?
Insane - Flume
Where is this and you did you guys make sure no one else was on the road? This is sick.
it would be awesome if those roads had camber built into them... designing a mega snake run that was a couple miles long would also be extremely fun...

I'm surprised there's no cars coming up. Was the cameraman also on a board?
timtimzi ni No, the camera man is in a car behind him, thats why the camera is in such a good position.
it literally shows the follow car in this vid
If you look at the time laps you can see there’s barely any cars on that alpine road
Yes or on a car or motobike watch iboro brothers and subscribe
What kind of wheels dou you need to drift like that?
skills
._,
Sector 9 butterball's
more of a powerslide, and you can do it with most wheels, harder is easier though
so if my wheels are soft, i still can do it. that all i wanted to now, thanks bro.
how loose/tight do your trucks have to be when going downhill? i always have the problem with speed wobbles lol

The landscape is beautiful, where was this filmed?
I just got a pin tail long board yesterday and I was just wondering how long it takes just to get comfortable with the board and be able to do simple tasks like riding down the street?
Depends on experience and balance. For me, I could do my street in a week. Just keep at it everyday and you'll get better and better. Have fun! :)
Hi Mate very cool video! Respect! I also want to use Insane by Flume for a video, did you pay any license for it?
