Hi Koos, great to listen to your life, much respect. Thank you for hosting Legacy Conversations, you are doing a great justice to those that served the once great country we lived in.
Violence is an understatement. My wife and daughter had suvived 6 hijacks, some at gun point. Myself - very greatful for the army training as I was able to help save a Grandma, Mother and 2 year old at the traffic lights near the Marlboro Gautrain station. It was instinct and shots were fired. I shouted for my wife to stop the car and jump out while it was still moving. We saved them, but lost the vehicle. My wife went bonkers and shouted at me histrically "You never do that to me again". I just shrugged and went silent. Memories of township duties ran through my head, necklacing etc. Seeing my little girl sobbing after a hijack. I felt so helpless.😭
Hi Koos Fantastic program, the respect and openness you bring forward , allowing the participants to tell their stories, with pride , yet with humbleness . Koos i notice that most talks on the military ( all sections and saps ) are mainly PF . What about the ordinary young man whom was conscripted for the national service. Many a young man during their military stint , lost their lives . They had parents, families, wives and children , they were also in the war , doing yearly " camps " ( 3 weeks and 3 months ) taken from their homes and work , sent to the " border " did 1 or 2 weeks intense training at places like Oshivello and then sent to war .
@Eric Lello - all are welcome here including NSM - many of whom arrived and were recorded - look under SADF Playlist and you will find them. It is immaterial to me if they were PF or NSM, Koos
@@brendonalison2472 My wife is in Zurich right now with her mom who lives there - Swiss German. I have no plans except for Geneva Airport and out of here.
Thanks Koos. I love the history of Rhodesia and South Africa. Being born in Rhodesia and spending alot of time in S.A might have something to do with it. The books written by ex service personnel really are very important for future generations. I will organise to come to your neck of the woods as I would like to get signed copies if possible.
@@brendonalison2472 I don't have any of the paper books with me. When I left SA I gave it all away. Those are good books, my own, but you might like the GMJ ones more since they deal with Rhodesia/Zimbabwe often enough. Thinking of Code Name Missa 72 and others. We expose a lot of history in them. Contact me at 4xsamil@gmail.com for a free electronic copy. Is not a problem. And you are welcome if in the area.

Hello, yes, they are on Amazon. I think at www.amazon.com/dp/B009CPM340 is the Mean Streets ones. Not sure if Amazon delivers printed versions here.
Thanks will try. Are you at anytime travelling to Zurich.
