I love seeing him leading worship, with his musician's history, and as a guitarist, seeing a stack of Marshall amps behind him ... Taking a great song and making it great for God. Kudos.
So as gracious as Leonard was to Lincoln, I wonder if Lincoln would accept a third verse I wrote just for use in our church. It goes like this: Jesus, you have paid the price You've saved me by your sacrifice And I will ever raise my worship to you They hung you high, they pierced your side The day grew dark and the angels cried But in three days they sang out, Hallelujah!
Realize that Lincoln Brewster changed the lyrics of the song which is completely different from the original written by Leonard Cohen. Maybe you should get your facts straight before posting comments...
The comment was, "This is not a Christian song". In the first verse he mentions the biblical David. David wan't a Christian, he was a Jew. But, if you research the meaning of this song, it is about sex. Not a Christian song at all.
i dont know if you listened the whole original song of this... which at the last david came back stronger... The original song can be a sex BUT that is the Story of David and Bathsheba...

Hi. Would you mind if I used this verse. I'm not sure if we will ever use it in church, but a 3rd verse would be great.

He changed the lyrics, to make it a Christian song,
the original lyrics is biblical... because that is the song about David...
