It is so strange how forestry in America works. Here in Germany clearcutting was only practiced for some decades, before and after sustainable forest management was and is the norm.
I don’t think “management” is the solution to forests. You just have to leave them alone. Forests aren’t even the problem, it’s finance and the economy. Maybe try managing that from top to bottom.
Better than clear cutting, but to be honest deadwood is critical to forest ecology, so saying that you’re improving the forest by removing unsuitable trees is not true. The best managed forest is the one with the least human intervention.
