This music holds so many melancholy yet beautiful memories. It reminds us of when we were young and had the freedom to just imagine. Every single note takes us back to those magical days of our childhood, where ripples in a blue pool were scaly creatures of the deep, and rustles in the long grass were leafy, winged reptiles. It takes us back to the days where the soft clouds in the sky seemed so close to our outstretched fingers, almost within reach, and endless daydreams hid just beyond the horizon. For those of us who yearn and ache to be a part of this world instead of our own, the bittersweet mix of pain and exhilaration we feel from the movies and this soundtrack is almost unbearable. Even still I find myself glancing out of windows and pretending, waiting, willing a dragon to soar through the clouds. If anyone reading this in time to come feels the same, you are not alone. The feeling is called anemoia- a deep desire for a place you have never known. We feel homesick for the land of Berk, because it's the place where we grew up. But always remember that you have not lost the ability to return, in your mind, on your screens, with the music. Always remember the memories of when there were dragons, but think of the memories still to come. And when the dragons can return in peace. Whatever you are going through right now, know it will pass. This night will pass. For now, close your eyes, take a deep breath, listen to the music, let those tears flow. And just fly.
