- The NMRA National Train Show was held in Grapevine TX (Dallas) at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center this year. It is also the 50th anniversary of NTrak modules which has grown into other scales like HO and O scale. This year, NRail setup a huge connected layout that incorporates three different standards, TTrak, NTrak, and Free-moN using helixes to connect them at different levels. Lots of manufacturers and vendors were available for questions and sales all weekend long.

This show was fairly well attended, the huge NRail layout setup that I was apart of with the Free-moN gang worked out pretty good, even with some issues. Fun show.
Care to describe issues in joining the free-moN and nrail systems?

@@KenN.OXN.805 Well, there was a bit of miscommunication with a group that didn't get the required wiring done to connect DCC with ours. Also, the helix double track had issues being setup to meet with Kato double trak and not Free-moN spacing of 1.125". It didn't matter anyway since the helix had a broke switch that only allowed one track to work, plus it had a short in it on Friday. Future attempts will require better DCC planning with each group to decide on one command station, proper grounding, and a compliant helix configuration. We learned a lot for the next time, if ever.

This is the 3rd show this year.
I wish the OKC show had more manufacturers coming. The OKC showw has really become a shell of its former self from the early 2000's
I agree. I know some manufacturers did come there but long time ago
A somewhat dying "hobby", though the displays & operation are quite impressive.
😢 man, I'm sorry I didn't make it down there. I had the opportunity to go and only pay for my food. 😢😢😢
Oh well, maybe next time. I am currently not planning on going to California next year, but who knows.
As I model British and Continental. It is interesting to see what is happening in the states.
I am looking forward to the n club International meeting in Stuttgart, Germany, this November.

Would have enjoyed it more if the camera was not being moved so fast.
I get it, but filming so much stuff would make this video 3 hours long if I walked at a snails pace. I left out about an hours worth as it is. But I will try and slow down a bit next time.

Maybe, it really depends on size, scale, and money. Also time to do it. It is a 8 hour drive.

@@user-fw9hm7be6b Are you looking to upgrade to a more "normal" layout vs running 5 trains in a circle? Flextrack, DCC, Point to point, switching with industries, that kind of thing? Normal railroad ways of doing things. Probably an around the room layout along the walls with possible ability to let the trains just run is what I would suggest.
